Welcome down the Sabaton rabbithole guys! So glad you took a chance and watched this. There are so many good songs to choose from, but I would recommend 1916(Motörhead cover),Christmas truce, To hell and back (about Audie Murphy) Carolus Rex,No bullets fly and En livstid I krig (live in Gothenburg, make sure to put on CC since it's in swedish) and Lady of the Dark. And I'm sure someone already told you but Hannes van Dahl the drummer in Sabaton is actually married to Floor Jansen :) Oh,and btw, never cut a Sabaton video short, there are often more stuff coming!

The CGI recreation is pretty damn accurate. The first battle is Bismarck Vs HMS Hood, ship design is spot on. Swordfish Bi planes launched from the Ark Royal and the lone torpedo impact on Bismarck's stern disabling his rudder. The final frames of Bismarck match the exact battle damage from pictures taken during the battle.

There is no similarity between Nightwish and Sabaton. Nightwish's music is hard rock and opera.
Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band from Falun, which was formed in 1999. The band's songs are inspired by various historical wars. Even the band name is military inspired, as Sabaton is also the name of the part of the armor that covers the foot.
The Sabaton band takes care of everything themselves and they have a total of 100 employees who help with everything and they drive the 12 long-tracks that are used when they tune. Thanks to the band booking gigs, ticket sales, booking hotels and more, they can keep prices low. They handle the sales of clothes, records and souvenirs themselves.
Even all these music videos on TH-cam are put up by the band themselves.

One of the most interesting things about the story of the Bismarck was its battle against Britain's flagship, the HMS Hood. The first shell to hit the Hood caused the ship to violently explode and sink in a matter of minutes, killing all but a handful of the crew. It got one-shot, and based on a documentary I saw where they went and investigated the wreck of the Hood to figure out how it sank, it was such a lucky one-in-a-million shot. The shell went through the deck armour, through a relatively small gap in the armour, and straight into the room with all of the ammunition charges for the front guns. Those charges were meant to propel the shells from the cannons. So a ton of explosive charges stored in one armoured compartment. From any other angle, there would have been too much armour around the ammunition storage for that shell to reach it. And the Hood was turning when it was hit. Not only was it a moving target from a long distance, but it was in the process of turning from sailing straight towards the Bismarck to lining up a broadside, so it was changing direction, too. Such a tragically lucky shot.

One of my favorite Sabaton songs is Primo Victoria, about D-Day.
Power Metal also includes groups like Dragonforce, Gloryhammer, Powerwolf, and Imperial Age.
The Bismarck was a German battleship that broke out of the North Sea, and terrorized the English fleet, mostly with the destruction of the HMS Hood. It could take damage, had 15 or 16 inch main battery, and was the target of the full UK Navy search. A torpedo jammed its rudder causing it to move in circles, and allow the English fleet to focus on it and target it.

The video was paid for by Wargaming, as a tie in to their game "World of Warships". The studio (located in Kiev, in case you were curious) did all the ship animations and tried to get the CGI as accurate to history as possible. The final shot of Bismarck burning, for example, is exactly accurate to the last photos of Bismarck before he sank.

The "Bismarck" , and his sister ship "Tirpitz", were the 2 largest battleships ever built in Europe (250 meters long, 36 meters wide, and displacing more than 50.000 tones) and they were the pride of the kriegsmarine (Germany's militari navy) during ww2. The "Bismarck" set sail in May 1941 to reach the Atlantic and destroy merchant convoys, but he was intercepted by the British and during a brief fight, destroyed the former flagship of the British fleet and pride of the Royal Navy, the worldwide famous battlecruiser "Hood", by penetrating her armor and detonating her aft main ammunition magazine and killing all 1400 members of her crew except for 3 men, and heavily damaged the battleship "Prince of Wales". This enraged the prime minister Winston Churcil who ordered all his ships in the Atlantic to abandon their operations and destroy the Bismarck. In total more than 40 ships participated to the hunt, making it the biggest naval hunt in history. Meanwhile Bismarck, who had received a hit during the first battle, was leaking fuel and was trying to reach the French port of Saint Nazaire, in occupied France, for repair. After 3 days of playing cat and mouse with the British, Bismarck was attacked by airplanes launched from the aircraft carrier "Ark Royal" and hit by a torpedo in the stern, which jammed his rudders during evasive manuvers, meaning that he was forced to sail in circles, just a few miles away from reaching air cover. In the end battleships "King George V" and "Rodney", along side the heavy cruisers "Norfolk" and "Dorsedshire" fought the already doomed battleship and, during the following 90 minutes completely destroyed it. However, despite having all his guns destroyed, and having received more than 400 hits (out of the 2800 shells that the British had fired at it) his armor was still mostly intact and the ship was still afloat. So the british launched another 4 torpedoes and he disappeared beneath the waves. After inspection of the wreck however it had been discovered that the torpedoes did no significant damage thanks to the battleship's extensive underwater protection, and that Bismarck had probably been scuttled by his crew (although it should be noted that many historians believe that it would have eventually sunk due to the damage received). Of the 2200 men that served on it only 114 survived

Actually, Vanguard is just slightly bigger than the Bismarck Class ships were. About 1000 tons heavier, making Vanguard the largest battleship ever built in Europe.
It's also important to note that Drachenifel has released a video covering some misconceptions about Bismark's sinking. The reason underwater damage cannot be confirmed is not because it isn't there, it's because her hull is sunk deep into the mud. Even then there are several probable 14 inch or 16 inch penetrations in her belt that would have led to heavy flooding.
Bismarck was dead by the Royal Navy's hand. The scuttling charges might have sped her along, but expert analysis (from the Cameron Expedition that everyone really likes to use as evidence for scuttled not sank) shows she stood enough visible damage that she would have gone down before the end of the day, scuttled or not.
Finally, it's also important to note that the Bismarck class and Vanguard are both terribly inefficient designs. Over 50000 tons full load for 8 15 inch guns at about 30 knots is insanely overbuilt, especially with the lighter protection that Bismarck had (no, Turtleback is not as effective as WOWS would like you to think). Richelieu and Jean Bart had the same main battery and similar protection and were much lighter, at about 42000 tons full load. She was also faster. South Dakota at 42000 tons has arguably heavier protection, and a much heavier 16 inch main battery, and only loses a few knots of speed. The Iowas are 5-6000 tons heavier and have a similarly heavier main battery and protection scheme, and are faster than Bismarck and Vanguard.
Germany should have been able to produce an 8x 15 inch ship at 42000 tons easy. But Krupps sliding breech blocks made the ships beamier than they needed to be, requiring greater length. Having 4 turrets lengthened the armor belt, and not adopting an All-Or-Nothing scheme added lots of weight as well.

@@Atlasworkinprogress when i wrote this comments i had just begun learning, and was trying to help others do so, i know that some of the things i said are not exactly accurate and i thank you for pointing it out.
Also yeah I know drachinifel, i've binge watched many of his videos by now
In regards to vanguard being bigger, technically speaking in terms of size bismarck and tirpitz are 2 meters wider and 10 meters longer, vanguard is around 1000 tons heavier than bismarck, but tirpitz is in return 1000 tonnes heavier than vanguard at full load displacement, making her the largest and heaviest european battleship ever built.
As a final note, i would like to remember that despite the inefficiency of the bismarck's design, those 2 battleships were still quite fearsome opponents, capable of going toe to toe with battleships such as richelieu, kgv, north carolina and south dakota, and that the main problem, as you said, was that the germans, due to a combination of inexperience and design choices, had to make them bigger to be able to achieve that combat capability.
The reason i think it's important to point this out is that a lot of the times people keep beating the bismarck class to a pulp because of their design, forgetting their actual capabilities, and acting like they were the only design which had some problems... which is far from the truth

Sabaton often incorporates riff sounds from a certain type of culture, 4:25 is an example of a german sounding riff, they also have made balkan influenced, swedish, asian and middle eastern, i think it's a pretty cool idea.

Not sure what the official definition is of Power metal, but for me it's very melodic with clear lyrics (usualy alot of high notes) and a big focus on the guitar.
This music video was made in collaberation with a Video Game developer, who made the game "World of Warships" as well as "World of Tanks" and "World of Warplanes"

Power metal is extremely melodic and often allso often showing connections to folk music. Sabaton is borderline power metal. Bands like helloween and rhapsody are living the power metal

There are a lot of amazing metal bands from Sweden and from Finland. Many of them have collaborations. Nightwish had a problem in the US when their singer got sick, and the singers from other metal bands (Elize and Alizza, backup singing for Kamelot, but also in Amaranthe and The Agonist) stepped up and took her place. It's like one big metal family. Competition, sure, but everyone knows that the fans spread word about other good bands, and in the end there will be more for everyone.

Sabaton is a huge rabbithole of music, history!! Their cover of 1916 is a cover of motörhead and the musicvideo is something else in the world of musicvideo. Christmas Truce is heart breaking and also a big recomendation also The Lion from the North. And the song A life time of war makes the audience sing with like nothing else then they do it in Swedish here at home. They are a live band in a whole new level so I would recomend some reaction on live performances to for some sings!! Guess its kind of clear iam a huge Sabaton fan 🤣🤟🏼

I also recommend watching "SABATON - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg)", it's an emotional song in Swedish with amazing crowd, and if you react to it turn captions on so you can understand what he sings, the english version is "A Lifetime of War" but the lyrics aren't the same and in my opinion doesn't pack the same punch in terms of emotions.

oh the aircraft are swordfish, lovingly nicknamed the stringback because there was nothing they couldnt' carry. ww1 aircraft used into ww2 as the brit naval airforce had nothing better at the time due to arguements with the engine makers. a vc was awarded to a pilot of the stringbag who was ordered to attack the sharnhorst during its run up the english channel. their aircover never arrived in the spitfires, but the crew pressed on regardless knowing it was a suicide run. they were mercilessly cut down by the luftwaffe, but the captain of the scharny said it was the most magnificent thing he had ever seen. these men charging in knowing it was death but going anyway. and sadly it was swordfish who gave the japanese the idea and tech for pearl harbor after they did it first at taranto in italy torping the italian fleet in its harbour. an american lt realised the danger and warned the head command and was ignored. the japanese on the other side went to the harbour and got as much info as they could and from it pearl harbour was borne.

The more interesting part is that every single scene tells an actual thing that happened in that hunt for the Bismarck. Some not even in very obvious ways. Like, when that flying boat passes above them instead of the Bismarck, yeah, the British first mis-identified another ship as the Bismarck. Or when the ship turns over and turrets fall off, yeah, they found them separated from the main wreck. Etc. Very little is just for cinema sake.
The only things wrong as I see are:
    - the same British admiral seems to be in charge the whole time. This was not the case.
    - the shell that detonated the Hood is shown plunging into the water near the ship, which was the older theory of how it hit below the belt armour. A newer one is slightly different. But you can't fault Sabaton for not knowing what the historians would reconstruct AFTER the song was released.

One thing that's worth pointing out for you future Sabaton-adventures - never, EVER, stop a video until it's completely over by itself. Sabaton videos usually (almost always) isnt truly over til the video ends itself. Just fyi. And it's worth it. This particular video was somewhat alright to stop before it was actually fully over, you did "only" miss one more sentence in that final text on the screen.
So in short, never ever stop a Sabaton video because you *think* it's over. Let their videos play til the video literally ends itself . Welcome aboard the Sabaton train. Fun fact, Sabaton's current drummer is the husband of Floor (vocalist of nightwish), they're expecting their 2nd child atm (iirc).
