Fun fact, The Red Baron's Squadron was called "The Flying Circus" which was was where Monty Pythons Flying Circus, got the last part of their name, more precise The title Monty Python's Flying Circus was partly the result of the group's reputation at the BBC. Michael Mills, the BBC's Head of Comedy, wanted their name to include the word "circus" because the BBC referred to the six members wandering around the building as a circus, The group added "flying" to make it sound less like an actual circus and more like something from World War I. The group was coming up with their name at a time when the 1966 Royal Guardsmen song Snoopy vs. the Red Baron had been at a peak. Freiherr Manfred von Richthofen, the World War I German flying ace known as The Red Baron, commanded the Jagdgeschwader 1 squadron of planes known as "The Flying Circus." The words "Monty Python" were added because they claimed it sounded like a really bad theatrical agent, the sort of person who would have brought them together, with John Cleese suggesting "Python" as something slimy and slithery, and Eric Idle suggesting "Monty". They later explained that the name Monty means Lord Montgomery, the great general of the Second World War".

@@fenrisulfur842 yep. The Flying Circus' planes were colored that way to distinguish them as friendlies since there were a lot of friendly fire during dogfights. Richtofen painted his plane red so that his squad would always know where he was at all times.
Manfred(red baron) is the second greatest pilot of having most shot down planes in the world. 80 that is accounted for. Which is impressive for that time periods plane.
@@Razzlion well wouldn’t really say same to americans or brittish or even french. Sure German was advanced, had really good tanks and awesome guns. But their soldiers were prime elites too.

Great reaction and another banger from Sabaton. When Sabaton plays this live, they actually have a small red Fokker triplane on stage that has a Hammond organ built into it. Interestingly, during von Richthofen's last flight he violated several of the combat rules he taught and insisted his pilots follow, including flying too low, flying too far behind enemy lines, and focusing too long on a single target. At the end, the German military wanted to remove him from combat due to his value in public relations, but he refused, feeling it was his duty to fight on. He was almost certainly suffering from combat fatigue, and maybe even brain damage after being shot down with a bullet to the head (he survived by bailing out since he was one of the few fighter pilots who carried a parachute).
when i look back in time of our country (germany).. sometimes i think we were special people. We did so much for this world and advanced it brutally in many aspects.. I could see how people back pre WW2 era think that we are superior not gonna lie tbh. Today this spirit barely lives, our minds got broken after ww2, we got robbed the biggest advancements we ever made got stolen by the US and USSR, they still use it today. The biggest plundering in human history and it was against the law what they did, literally war crime, but eh, winners write the tale. Times changed alot and all this stuff is long ago. Richthofen is a legend in itself.
Are you talking about Operation Paperclip? Because many of the people the allies took would've been executed for warcrimes, otherwise. There was also a lot of discussion after the war about simply *burning* a lot of the research because of how the information was obtained, primarily the human experimentation. By the way, aren't there several pieces of art that are still missing because the Germans *stole them?*
Dude's legend lives on in other media as well. In the 90's cartoon S.W.A.T. Kats there was a character called the Red Lynx and he was the ghost of a pilot that came back from the dead to get revenge on the mayor of the city...because his ancestor was the one who shot him down. It's even in more recent stuff like Star Wars as they had a pilot on the Empire's side in Star Wars Resistance called Major Elrik Vonreg who piloted a red TIE Interceptor. Over in Japan it's not uncommon for the enemy ace Mobile Suit pilot in many a Gundam series to pilot a red mobile suit, this first started with Char Aznabel and his custom red Command Zaku II, he was known as the "Red Comet" and his suit was feared by everyone of his enemies because it was 3 times as fast as a normal Zaku II...it wasn't until the RX-78-2 Gundam was activated and used by Amuro Ray that he started getting defeated...and many of his most iconic mobile suits were red.

Yep, I remember Empire Earth. It was extremely simplistic, but overall a good game. When it comes to Richthoffen himself, he was not just a pilot, he was a leader, teacher, strategist and theorist. And most importantly, he was a propaganda symbol. When he died, it symbolized to common Germans that the war is heading for a bloody end that will not grant them a victory.
Richthofen's Triplane came as a result of an an encounter that he had with a British aircraft, the Sopwith Triplane. He was that impressed with it that he asked Tony Fokker to create something similar, which led to the birth of the Fokker Dr1, although the DR1 had a fourth, smaller wing in between the wheels, that made it better and was later to be a part of the D7 and D8/EV

I recommend Sabaton's No Bullets Fly. It's about a really beautifull story with video being in simillar format as The Red Baron
