My father's name was Pasquale and mother's name Annina. We migrated to Australia in the early 60's. Mum and dad used to tell me they kissed the ground they walked on in Australia as life was good to them, giving them fruits of their labour never imaginable, although they occasionally also missed the old country. Everything I see in nonna and nonno reminds of my mamma and papa. Love this channel and Vanessa's channel. Models of what it is to be Italian with that lovely immigrant influence. Just beautiful. Keep doing what you do, it makes me smile and so, so happy!!! Ciao tutti e tanti bacioni!!!
Nonna, this meal looks very delicious!!! It also looks easy. Thank you, ma'am. Nonno, I agree - if you are bored, then it is a sign that perhaps you are not being creative enough. I'd also like to say that it is okay to be bored sometimes. Some parents do not allow themselves or their children to sit with that uncomfortable feeling that arises out of being bored. But it is robbing the child of the chance to think of something creative to do, or to develop more patience.
You're a very fortunate young man! You have wonderful grandparents. And, you're smart enough to cherish them! The day will come when you will cherish all these memories!
Geez Nonna has the hands of an angel. Love Nonno stories. God bless your family. It’s so wonderful following your videos and your sister’s. Great loving family❤
Julian your nonna and nonno are truly joys to watch. Thankyou for sharing nonna’s delicious dishes with us and nonno’s wonderful stories, I have been watching your content for ages and I enjoy every minute of it. Blessings to all of you from across the vast sea🙏🏾🧡
I love this channel so much. Thank you for sharing ur grandparents with us. I love how crafty Nonno is and his stories. I have made a few of ur Nonna recipes and they are all a hit. I will try the eggplants. Blessing to ur wonderful family ❤
Just subscribed and am having flashbacks of my Italian grandparents and extended ‘family’ 😉. There are so many similarities - it’s like a big hug. I miss meals at the big table and the hours afterwards with the loud conversation, laughter, talking all at once. It wasn’t until i was an adult, I realized that not every family was like that and how lucky we were.
Thank you. I subscribed a few days ago after Vanessa mentioned her grandparents. Watching Nonna reminds me of being with my friends mother, from Italy. Food and smells were always wonderful. Blessings 🤗
Came here after Vanessa mentioned you in her latest video. Got blessed with a nice video immediately. Definitely want to try this recipe. Thanks Nonna and Nonno for your wisdom
Vanessa sent me over here. Nonna and Nonno, you make me miss my own parents and grandparents. I know you would get along with them like dear old friends. Thank you for sharing your lovely family, cooking tips, and other well-earned wisdom with us here on TH-cam. Very best wishes to you and yours from Florida. Subscribed!
I have never heard of stuffed eggplant but this looks delicious!! I don’t usually care for eggplant but I know I would love this!!! 💯👌👍 For some reason I think I’m a lot younger than your grandparents until I realize we’re only 10-15 years apart! My childhood was much the same, not much time inside except winter, no tv, party line phone and no answering machine! Use your imagination to make up things to do, ride bikes all over, climb trees, roller skate in the street or sidewalk in summer and build snow forts, snowmen, have snowball fights in the winter. When you can’t do either, play board games or read. We had FUN!! 👏👌👍👵🏻💕
Julian, I admire you and your entire family _tremendously_ . Nonna, will you make stuffed Bell Peppers? Any color is fine. I have a folder with many of your recipes saved. Nonno, a question for you: What is your most favorite place to see in the italian countryside, and how did it make you feel when you see it the first time ever?
I love watching your videos. I'm actually half italian, and I never met my grandparents who were from Italy - they passed away before my father got married to my mother. I often wonder what kind of people they were, what kind of foods they made, and how they interacted with each other. I'd like to think that maybe they'd be like yours :) it's fun to watch the foods they made and the stories they tell.
Have you considered doing some videos all in Italian? Nonna & Nonno could say whatever they want and then put some English subtitles for the recipe or whatever. It would be good practice and fun for Italian speakers and students. Maybe Julian could learn how to say "Hey Nonna, whaddaya doing?!" in Italian too! 😁 Call them the "Cosa fai?" videos.
Yes! "Hey Nonna, what are you making today?" That would be really cute. I'd like to see that. I know maybe 3 words in Italian, so maybe I could pick up a few words. (Now I am wondering if they speak Italian, English, or a mixture of both when the cameras are off?)
How beautiful you all are!! I must say that as I watch you when ever you post, I get teary eyed, I never knew my grandparents, they never came around us. 😢 at now 65yrs old I still miss that. Thank you for sharing young man.🙏🕊🙏🕊🙏🕊🫰💜💜💜
I was brought here by girl with the dogs and Lito! Cant wait to learn all the cooking secrets you're willing to share. ( some secrets need to stay secret!)😉 Sending love Nonna and Onno!
The heartburn occurs because the already cooked pomodoro sauce is cooked again for 45+ minutes creating concentrated acid. Bake the stuffed eggplant (cut in half to lay open faced), drizzle olive oil, and then parmigiana it at the end with fresh sauce.
Add apple cider vinegar 1 tsp to 1 cup water…acid/heartburn is the result of not enough acid in the tummy…the ACV will add needed acid to help digestion and calm the heartburn….
And keeping several bottles of pink lady Health Aide kombuchas in the fridge is always a great compliment to any meal. Extinguishing any heartburn before it starts.
... I'm going to try this, looks delicious ... (however; my Italian step-mom always, always 'soaked' the Egg Pant with salt for @ 45-90 minutes, drew the bitterness out), perhaps the source of heartburn ... I'll do it both ways ... Thanx for the Pod-cast ... 😊
These were the type of people that I grew up with. My grandparents were my best friends, and my Mom and Dad were, well, no words can describe. They were the Best!!! Enjoy this channel. This is what it was like when life was good!
I just found your channel and I’m in love with your grandparents and I don’t even know them! lol 😂 They remind me of how my granny and grandpa used to be together before my granny passed away a few years ago. It’s heartwarming. Thank you for this ❤️
I absolutely adore your family! I just started watching and it makes me miss Italy so much! Tell Nonna and Nonno they could be my surrogate grandparents any day!! They are amazing!
Oh my gosh these videos make me feel safe and so happy nothing like this! I'm so glad you cherish them! So precious! And BTW eggplant is my fav too!!! Eggplant parm is my fav I am going to try Nonnas recipe this week! Thanks Nonna!!!❤
I miss my family every day (all are passed) and I wish I had something like this to remember them. Thank you for sharing your family with us, and thank you for the stories and insights. I wish you all to have pleasant days, good food and good friends.
Julian, these are great videos buddy. You should tell your Nonno the full quote is, “Jack of all trades and a master of none, still better a Jack of all trades than a master of one.” He’s so talented! You guys are the best
So much wisdom. Who says old people are no good in society they arethe ones with the brain and problem solvers. The chinese have it right. They put the elderly on a pedestal. Italians are the hardest working people in this world. I love you all! Continue your shows. Love gigi too!❤
Bless you, young man, for caring enough about your grands to record these amazing videos. So many young people today are apathetic toward their elders. I"m going to make stuffed eggplants if I can figure out a vegan version. I'm allergic to cheese, eggs, and most animal flesh.
In my little village in southern Italy they make them in slices. The aubergines are cut into slices and then two slices of aubergines with the filling in the middle (sandwich style). Once the filling is placed in the middle of the slices, they are then fried a little in oil and then placed in the tomato sauce to cook them. Stuffed eggplants are something I'm crazy about ! Since I was a child they have always been my favorite dish.
I love love to see ❤️ I was born in Wales but my nanna was Irish she was the fulcram of the family We as kids had Irish and Welsh influence with cooking, I loved it x
I have never heard a more immigrant parent/grandparent response than “it depend how much you do, then you figure it out for yourself” when asking for a recipe clarification 😂❤
I love their attitudes. They say many times this is how I do thing's it may not be perfect, but its how I do them. You can do it differently. I think that's a great lesson for people today. Because everyone always wants to be right and it's their way or no way.
Anything from nonna or Italian. Is good for me🎉🎉❤❤ Well you know why you get heartburn, because you are SUPPOSED to salt the Eggplant and LET the bitterness from it drain! We always do that, and the pulp of the eggplant we scoop out and boil a bit. It needs to be very cooked... not raw, its not zucchini which is sweet.. Just wondering who taught nonna to cook. Are these recipes from her mom. We actually put ground veal parsley and good amount of pecorino cheese 🧀
Julian, thank you for taking the time to record your lovely Grandparents for our education and entertainment!❤
Nonna needs to make a cook book for all of us to purchase! We LOVE these recipes ❤
I love watching your grandmother cook! She’s just delightful. Thank you for taking the time to record this for us!❤❤❤
The whole family is delightful 😊 and a pleasure to watch
