Not a vegan yet... but my Danish friend Helle (I'm American) encouraged me to start a journey of eating more healthy so I gave up red meat and only have chicken or fish sometimes (not daily). I'm on my way to better health since Jan 1, 2022. Tak Helle!

Funny that nobody asks people who eats traditionally if they are sure that they are eating healthily... Most of them have a lot of saturated fat in their arteries! I heard a podcast about Denmark having more pigs (20 millions!) than inhabitants. That's sad.
Most people also just say what they heard from commercials. They have no clue about nutrition, the environment and the cattle industry and ... they usually don't want to know. They want to keep consuming what they have been taught to do in their society without questioning it.
I'm a whole plant food vegan.

Nice! Jag fattar inte danska men jag lär mig svenska.
I think the world will have to become vegan at some point if we want to survive. This one and only planet we have is just not enough to keep cutting down trees to create more farming areas to grow grains that we feed the animals so that they grow faster because we are constantly breeding them to supply the high demand. It's just nonsensical. More water is wasted on animal farming than on fracking.
The ocean is not enough either to keep creating ocean dead zones with all the fecal waste we throw in there that shouldn't even be existing since we are creating the problem by breeding the animals so fast.
Luckily, the youger generations seem to be waking up. It is our only home, so it's not just a "personal choice" anymore. I'm vegan for the animals that feel, cry, and die *unnecessarily* , for the environment, for my health, for the world our children are going to live in, and for the starving people of the world who could be eating 90% of the grains we grow that are fed to the animals instead... just so the other half of the world can have a steak.

This video wasn't ...great. The guy in the vegan place was really confused about nutrients. I think I know what he's trying to explain but he's clearly trying to recall something he can't quite remember. I don't think I would feel like I really learned something new about vegans or veganism if I was just a random non-vegan watching. It's not explained why one would be vegan instead of vegetarian, for example.
I guess that's not really the goal of the video, tho. It could have been much worse, and some answers were quite heartening.
P.S. Nutrients that can be an issue on a vegan diet is B12 (best supplemented) and sometimes vitamin D or Omega-3 (DHA specifically, which is what I think he was talking about in the video).

Hi! Thank you for your feedback :)
You are right, the goal of the video is to train listening comprehension in Danish as well as show a small part of Danish culture. In this case, how many vegans there are, why people are not vegan, and where to go for some good vegan food when in Denmark. There is then limited time left over to cover the ins and outs of veganism. We are also not trying to be pro- or anti-vegan, if you were expecting that.
But again, thank you for your comment, we are always trying to improve with each video :)

Supplements are derived from animals and thereby an animal product, yet they are not the same as getting them through eating meat. There is also the matter of bacteria and other substances that you intake from meat and are vital to your health. You cannot be a vegan and be healthy, you cannot be a pseudovegan who takes supplements and be healthy either. That's merely sustaining yourself with drugs that do not provide what you need. Veganism is dangerous, and if anything, is a trend invented and popularised for societal control as practitioners can easily delve into delusional docility and mental illness.
I say this as a matter of moral necessity. It's all irrelevant anyway because the video is about language.

@@skyworm8006 Ding dong you are wrong. You can't just spew your unscientific assumptions as fact.
      1. Supplements are NOT animal derived by default. You can get any supplement in a 100% vegan version.
      2. "It is the position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately planned vegetarian, including vegan, diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes."
      Source: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/27886704/
They have also put out a pdf on the details of different nutrients on vegan and vegetarian diets if you want to learn more, I'm sure you can google yourself to it.

Well, given the fact that they interviewed only one vegan and about five non-vegans, I think for a video about veganism they could've made it 50/50 (1:1) at the very least. Of course the non-vegan viewpoint is going to win out. But to me there is no debate, as there is no excuse for exploitation of animals!

That would be the vegan diet, but to answer your question being vegan involves not participating in any form of animal exploitation. That means not wearing fur or leather, medicine tested on animals, even certain cleaning products.

I am vegan and of course one day we all will be vegan. Veganism is a scientifical and ethic progress. The vitamine B12 was discovered on 1947 and since this date, humanity can finally become vegan, because the vitamine B12 is the only essentiel nutriment we don't find in vegetables, only in some animal products (that's why human beings had to domestic and exploit animals). Now we can make this vitamine by ourself and finally stop using animals to find it.

  • @santiagoayala2975

vegetarian or vegan diet isn't for everyone, it depends on the kind of lifestyle, work and preferences you have. Some people have jobs that involve intense physical work, they wouldn't get their nutrients with a vegetarian or vegan diet. I mean that kid in the vegan cafe, he wouldn't be able to have one of those jobs, look at his thin arms, he has no muscle mass, his head is bigger than the rest of his body, he is what in USA it is called a "soy boy".

Gorillas and elephants are vegans, too. You don't hear anyone saying they have no muscle mass. Maybe the guy in the café doesn't want to look like a self-regarding gym bunny?

    • @user-ed7pu5uj3q
      @user-ed7pu5uj3q 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You say the vegan diet isn't for everyone. What would the animals say? Of course you can say "They can't speak, so they wouldn't say anything." but if you want to live ethically, go vegan!
