Howdy Quick, once again you’re Bang On with the cellular struggle, even here in Rural Michigan I can relate... Oh, and with Canadian Rail, Canadian National runs throughout our little state too. I’ve spent more than my share of time wait’n on CN! Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Morning sir, hope the harvest such as it is has been going well. A shout out for the Outdoor Canada issue - it was a good read! Here in southern BC, if we're hunting too close to the medicine line suddenly the next call ends up being $15 because international charges now apply! The cell phone struggle is real for rural Canucks isn't it? :)
One charger: for the missus' new tablet. The missus has another for her phone. Then there's one for my phone, and a spare. One day I used the missus' charger. YEEEAH. Holy cow she tore a strip off me. Then I said, "who pays the bills for the power you use to charge everything?" Not my best moment.
LOL, I just went through that same routine with the charger cord. Now for a video on WIFI. Your right, I'm not from Saskatchewan but the scenery is at times pretty nice. Cheers
Lol!! Used to have the same problem with direction in Alberta. Calling from the house, picks up the tower in Breton, walk out the front door and take two steps, tower in Wetaskiwin. Never could get a hold of Dad because every time he got in the house, he'd turn the phone off. Can't give Telus any extra money, they charged too much already!
100% true facts especially the flashlight🤣🤣 but you forgot to mention the buddy that calls you leaves a voicemail saying hey it's me call me back does he forget I have caller ID or I've saved his number into my phone under his name or nickname 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Yup. Wave to the neighbor who is combining on the other side of the fence and you phone to ask what his grain is testing and it's a bloody long distance phone call.
Rebuilt a home on family land this year in Nova Scotia. Had perfect service in the old house. Now with modern interconnecting concrete form ( ICF ) construction and steel roof, I have no service. They said the house would be quiet but it's way beyond my expectations. 😎
The struggle is indeed real and not limited to Saskabush either.....AND I used my cell light just today for the elusive bouncing valve stem cap that rolled WAY the ()$(P under the tool box....... Thanks for the laugh QDM.
Thank god you are back in service I was getting withdrawal symptoms. If it is called mobile then it goes where I go no matter what lol. It's not a camera phone wink wink and smell doesn't carry on line.
I've been 3 miles north of Maidstone and had a local call bounce off the Turtleford tower for a long distance call over 30 miles away. Hard to figure out that dynamic. Good old Sasktel.
The phones work by the line of sight to the tower meaning that if there is an obstruction ( building, tree, hill, wall ect ) in the way they will select signal from another tower they can see. Other wise your call would be dropped. It is part of the way the technology was designed. They are constantly bouncing between towers sometimes many times per minute. Do you not have an unlimited long distance plan? I didn’t know long distance was still a thing. Most plans have unlimited North America now.

I had quite a cellphone problem last year during harvest. the thing got so hot in my shirt pocket, I had to take it out. I really thought it was going to catch fire.
Here's another issue. After one year of using your phone and charging the bastard, your phone wouldn't charge. So you tried different plugs and cables only to find out that it was the phone itself and can work in the most awkward position that you can make. And not in any position, but in the weirdest position that the bastard can charge your phone.
Lol...Truth! 😂...Only place we can get cell service is from our 2 story roof top! I hr and 10 mins from Wpg.! 🤨... My hubbys Aunt gets better cell service in Thailand at Monsoon season! Damn cell phones!! When the cell phones were new and I lived on the banks of Lake Erie in Ontario I use to always get charged for long distance saying I was in Ohio calling a Ontario number and I would always have to call them up and explain I am not in Ohio I live in Ontario and the damn phone keeps using some cell tower across the lake in Ohio. It was a pain in the arse but I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.
Thanks Quick Dick! Yes I noticed they’d changed the ends on the darned cord when I got my new phone. No dang headphones either! Now what am I going to do when my daughter loses hers?
Here in SW Ontario if you drive up the Canadian side of the Detroit or St. Clair rivers you get hit with U.S. roaming charges. Try explaining the regional geography to the call center in India
Hey QD. I feel your pain. Where I live you can be 4 miles south of the cell tower and actually see the damn thing but not have any service WHAT THE HELL! I live close to the US border here and one poor lady didn’t realize that her phone was roaming on a US cell tower and she received a $2100 cell bill from Sask Tel. Cell phones are sometimes more trouble than what they are worth! Keep us laughing 😂 👍
Excellent episode! 👏👏👏 I noticed my tablets only work for 6 mos. to a year now, and then something happens, and I have to buy a new one. The charging ports seem to be made incredibly flimsy and weak, they function as if they tested them for 400 insertions, and if you go over that , it wears out. My old Nokia phone was good for ten years, and probably still would function!
my struggle is when you folks are behind us in Manitoba for half the year and you doing chores and look at your phone......, cause you can't remember how to change the clock in the tractor and it hasn't been right for the whole year since 2002, And you think "well thats great! Ive got plenty of time to get back to the wife before she wants to go to the movie.........." I ought not need to finish this LOL
ALSO - sitting on the same space in my living room in rural Nebraska, I can be a local call, roaming, or my favorite- and INTERNATIONAL call - from the middle of Nebraska. Figure that one out. That's even if it rings at all.

Take a trip up to the Yukon or NWT. You'll brag about the cell service in Saskatchewan. First trip I took with a cell phone, I started to believe no service was the name of the cell company. Bought a sat phone for the north mainly because my family starts hunting for my will if I don't stay in touch on a regular basis.
There was a fun little long distance bug down by the breakwater in Victoria, on Vancouver island, where you were bouncing off a cell tower in the US and got charged for international roaming!
Loved that BMA was wearing safety goggles while grinding that piece. Would've been maybe a bit better had the goggles been over his eyes instead of his nose....
😂 My biggest problem would be the cell service, especially over in Celtic. I do know which locations, and where exactly on the roads, has the best service though. 🙈 😂
One feature of my mobile works flawlessly: The bill arrives, in full, 100% of the time.
