I'm a dark-skinned Asian and western makeup trends definitely helped me work with my skin tone. Beauty standards in asia idealize white skin, and it was through tanned and dark ladies in the west that I learned to reject the bleaching pills and procedures and get a flattering blush color and not over pluck my brows. I know I'd be heart broken if I was told to stop doing my makeup the way other POC Americans do theirs.

There are people from Northern European countries like Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, etc who have eyes naturally like that. Also black people can have monolid eyes without being mixed. The eyelid fold that covers your eyelid and gives that look occurs more commonly on East Asian people but can also happen in other races, it’s just a stereotype. I was about to say something similar, because you can make the argument that asians want to like westerners. When I do my makeup to make my eyes look bigger, I'm not necessarily trying to look white. I just want bigger eyes. It's not necessarily the makeup, it's overly sexualizing asian women and young girls, using it as some costume and having the ability to wipe it off. Like I can't just be "okay this is hard being asian let me just go back to being white." We can't just "wipe" that off, this is who we are.

Ikr I do very angular eyeliner (because I have very round, soft features and it helps even my face out) and a kid in my class said that it’s asian fishing to do that. I'm a cosplayer. I use white liner on my lower lash line all the time, it makes my eyes look more cartoon-ish and bigger. I also do my winged liner from my lower lash line because I have hooded eyes and it looks way better. Not once has anyone ever thought I was Asian. Beauty standards in asia idealize white skin, and it was through tanned and dark ladies in the west that I learned to reject the bleaching pills and procedures and get a flattering blush color and not over pluck my brows.

There are people from Northern European countries like Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, etc who have eyes naturally like that. Also black people can have monolid eyes without being mixed. The eyelid fold that covers your eyelid and gives that look occurs more commonly on East Asian people but can also happen in other races, it’s just a stereotype. One of my guy friends has very elongated eyes and people call him asian even though he’s white (not mixed). It’s just a condition that gives you excess skin in the outer corner of your eye socket. Im not asian and I have almond shaped eyes and that type of makeup that u say is "asian fishing" fits my eye shape very well (I'm black x Hispanic) I'm all here for Asians defending their community I also defend them too as I've seen what they have to go through thru my little sister (she's blasian) but gatekeeping that type of eyeliner won't make anything better. Ikr I do very angular eyeliner (because I have very round, soft features and it helps even my face out) and a kid in my class said that it’s asian fishing to do that. I'm a cosplayer. I use white liner on my lower lash line all the time, it makes my eyes look more cartoon-ish and bigger.
