Honking your horn at someone that is distracted on your phone shouldn't be illegal. I saw a video on Facebook yesterday of a motorcyclist honking his horn at a car at a roundabout, who wasn't moving when they should have been, and it turned out to be a police officer who yelled at him for 6 minutes. I don't understand how people can get so offended by a car horn. Sure, it's loud. But that doesn't justify you being on your phone or some other scenario. It's the silliest thing ever. Remove the horn and replace it with a bubble gun if that's the case. Just my thoughts on that.
thecrappygamer69 Well if that said person panics and crashes, they shouldn't be on the road whatsoever. It's ridiculous that I would have to tolerate someone's stupidity on the road because they could panic or something.
I hate when people use no headlights in rain it drives me crazy I can understand a sprinkle but in heavy rain anything white or grey is almost not noticeable
A good law in a few states is requiring you to move a lane over for cars/emergency vehicles that are on the side of the road. Some states also require that if you aren't doing at least the speed limit in the passing lane you need to move to the right.
I never understood why people get so mad when someone uses thier horn, nor why it should be illegal in a lot of scenarios. It's on there for a purpose - it's a communication device.
Number 5 rests my case of why the speed limit shouldn't just be one set number. The speed limit on a snowy rush hour should be nowhere near as high as a shiny dry weekend afternoon because driving will be much harder on a snowy rush hour.
Nah, most of the time people will understand, you never know how someone elses car is going to act in bad weather and most people, assuming their smart enough, will remember this when they see you with your hazards on.
I did that driving through Kansas in heavy rain. I couldn't see a foot in front of me. My GPS told me where all the twists and turns on the highway were. I drove slowly and had my emergency lights on. It's not like a police officer is going to pull someone over for something so petty in that kind of weather anyways.
Thats funny here in Orlando the highways have those electric signs that actually say do not drive with your hazards in the rain and possibly that its illegal to do so.
Another tip: Some states allow you to wait in the middle of an intersection for a better chance to turn across. In CA many drivers legally enter the intersection waiting to turn left until the light turns yellow, oncoming traffic stops, and they can complete there turn before the cross traffic gets a green. This is actually illegal in many other states. In my home state of TN you cannot legally enter an intersection unless you can safely travel through and complete your turn! If a cop sees you sitting in the middle of the light with your blinker on he can ticket you.
Thanks for giving me this information, I did not know I was breaking 3 laws (Hazards/ honking/ headlights in the rain ). There is no need to stop for 3 seconds at a stop sign, just make sure you feel that 'snap-back' effect on your head of stopping to show that you actually came to a full stop. Often cops hang out at stop signs and give away a ton of tickets to 'rolling stop' offenders.
#2,#6 in Japan, we commonly use hazards (2-3 flashes) to express "thank you"s to whoever is behind you -for example when someone let's you cut in a line, or a short honk for someone who kindly waits for you to make a turn in front of them. bus drivers do this all the time whenever they have other cars wait for them at busstops.
In my country here in Europe there is a really cool feature on traffic lights : just before green light goes off it blinks three times before it turns yellow and then red. What is cool about this is the thing that i am informed on time when the green light is going to cut off and turn red so i can start braking on time so i don't pass on yellow and potentially crash or hit someone even though it is legal to pass on yellow.
Going back and actually looking at the whole video. I feel like this guy is actually doing some good. Things he said makes sense. Especially if you havent been to the certain places he mentioned. So good job!
They recommend being at least 2-4 seconds behind the car in front of you. 1 mile per hour is about 1.4 feet per second, so 50 miles per hour would be about 70 feet per second, and you can calculate your following distance by picking a sign or pole next to the car in front of you and counting how long it takes you to reach it.
One could make the argument that they honked their horn to "warn another driver" that they were impeding traffic (which is also a ticketable offense). You can also fight red light camera tickets if you can show that the system was not functioning properly or traffic conditions forced you to enter the intersection while the light was red (like when a responding fire truck or ambulance pulls up behind you while you're sitting at a red light). Also - if your face is not visible in a red light camera ticket, you can always claim that you were not the driver (this is a common defense for motorcyclists who wear helmets). Other laws that people break all the time is changing lanes in an intersection and changing lanes while turning.
1 of mine is , when you are entering or exiting a expressway it is YOUR responsibility to get yourself on or off the expressway. NOT the other vehicles currently driving down the expressway.
When our traffic lights in Austria begin to flash yellow, it's time to stop BEFORE entering the intersection. Driving into an intersection at yellow can cost a ticket, running a red light can cause serious trouble.
"Reasonable and prudent" = "A cop in a bad mood can ruin your day." Seriously, though, reasonable and prudent goes both ways -- if the traffic is moving at, say, 70, and the speed-limit is 55, you are *not* being reasonable and prudent by forcing everyone behind you to slow down to 55. You are just as likely to cause an accident doing that, as you are by driving 55 when traffic is only moving at 40 because of weather conditions or congestion.
An undercover officer was tailgating me while driving on the highway. So I decided to speed up and ended up going 60 in a 45 zone which got me pulled over.+ you can't listen to music video while driving? Yep I got a ticket for that too.
My mom suffers from parking rage. If someone nearly crashes her car or takes her parking spot, middle fingers are raised. Also,if you tailgate her,she will probably brake and accelerate so you piss your pants. That and when she drives me to school, yellow means accelerate and red means turn.
I typically count to 5 then honk if someone hasn't started moving when the light turns green at a red light. Majority of the time, people start moving when I get to four. Some lights are way too quick to change back to red to be waiting for someone to remember they have a destination to get to.
#9 LMAO... #10 OMG YES! Especially in the middle of the night...I swear we used to have laws here in Colorado that stated you could get a ticket for disturbing the peace for having a car that is too loud. And/or I vaguely remember something from like 10 years ago that said your car could not project above some certain decibel or other, if it did then you are causing a public health disturbance or something...I dont recall but these laws need to come back. I could hear this one Honda from when it pulled out of the parking lot at the bar I work at for what must have been miles down the road at 2am. Meanwhile, it was so loud that when it pulled out of the parking space it was shaking the front windows of the bar and vibrating the glass behind the bar. I am all for a car having a good beefy sound and a nice "rawr" but that was just utter ridiculousness. Who agrees these need to be laws again?
To add on to number 8, the way you worded it is misleading. Yes it is legal if you are still in the intersection after it turns red, however that isn't to say that you have till the moment it turns red to get into the intersection. The law in every state still says that if it turns yellow and you can safely stop, you have to stop. So even if you do get into it while it's yellow and it turns red while your still in it, you can still be ticketed.
AFAIK Number 8 is only illegal when the car is slow to stationary(i.e. traffic) in most areas. If you're passing through yellow and it turns red half way through, it generally doesn't mean anything unless you're in an area with red light cameras which already abuse the timings for extra revenue (thankfully those are becoming illegal).
in germany there is a rule that you need to use your warning flashlights if there is a traffic jam on the autobahn. this alarms people that are goin 180+ and proofed to be very effective against rear ending accidents.
#4 is the most idiotic trash ever. It's the same in Germany. #6 does seem like the US laws are pretty inconsiderate of *actually* getting to where you're going. And #8 is just pointless. I wasn't aware the American road laws were that backwards.
#6 The other day I was in a left turn lane, there was a car in front, a cop, and then me. When the arrow turned green, the guy didn't move, I beeped the horn, and then the cop put on his siren for a second to get the guy to move lol
UK is more relaxed on laws a bit like #6 is never punished because cops do it as well and #8 is relaxed because if it is yellow you can pass through if you think you have time but if it goes red whilst crossing the lights it isn't worth a ticket as you already passed the lights. Only exception is a designated box where cars can't stop and they have to either remain behind the lights or move into a different lane to open up space
Breaking when the yellow light turns on while going fast and being close to the intersection is the reason why the yellow light was invented (so you don't have to do it) Giving someone a ticket for that is like punishing for driving safe
the law making you get a ticket for the light turning red while inside the intersection is the most unsafe road law ever. the person behind you always wants to get though too.
2:57 - 3:12. In the UK this would be considered as "Driving without due care and attention" as you are holding a mobile device whilst incharge of a vehicle (even though you are stationary) traffic is moving around you, and you will be required to move again as soon as the traffic lights turn green or the road is clear for you to carry on with your journey. Due care and attention is a big thing in the UK, and if you were involved in an accident /incident, even talking in to your screen mounted camera could be taken into account + depending on where it is attached to the windscreen, you could be pulled for "Construction and use" regulations, IE: it could be seen as distracting or obstructing your view through the windscreen, which also renders it an M.O.T failure which in turn invalidates your insurance.
It's very easy to get out of a red light ticket. For red light cameras to be enforceable, there has to be a sign that shows their presence. While most intersections have signs, you can't prove that the sign was up and visible usually when you got the ticket. This has been the standard defense for the tickets in Kansas City anyway.
A texting driver who has not noticed that the light has turned green for quite some time has become a rear end hazard. so honking at them should be legal. Plus where I live using your phone while driving is illegal and falls under distracted driving, we can also get a ticket for doing things like eating cereal or brushing teeth under this law
The fact that its illegal to use your hazards is incredible for me. Im from Spain and here you must use your hazzards whenever you make a turn. I'm always using it while driving, and when someone don't use it, drivers get very angry
The first one (at least where i'm from) you can be given a DUI if you were in the car with the keys INSIDE the car REGARDLESS if it's turned on. So if you were sleeping in your car while under the influence, you can be given a DUI if the keys were in your pocket. Legally you're supposed to store the keys somewhere outside the car.
those last two ones are funny. i actually had a 2016 mustang until last month. Now i have an 1983 Anniversery edition Daytona 500 Trans Am pace car. It needs a bit of work but i actually prefer it. And screw priuses.
The first one, even if your car isn't on. If the keys are in the ignition, you can get a DUI. You can chill in the car, as long as the keys are not in the ignition.
I used my caution lights while driving once because I had awful leg cramps in both of my legs after hiking a high mountain. I wanted to pull over but there was no shoulder.
it is actually illegal to undertake in some areas in America in general (that includes Canada, US and Mexico), for those that dont know what undertaking is, it is passing on the right or left depending on what side of the road you drive on (depending on the country) so for example in the UK undertaking would be passing on the left. but like many of these laws named im sure it is not enforced as some of the laws named well at least 1 is ridiculous. if the cop feels like you are tailgating he can ticket you. where i live (Canada) you're supposed to drive 2 seconds behind another driver's rear bumper. so lets say the car ahead passes a feature in the road ahead well by the time they are done passing it should take you 2 seconds to pass it aswell. in many cases Police wont enforce it as it is not really a problem but if they see you are being erratic and all that you can bet your ass they will be coming to right you a ticket
for tailgating what happened to the "for every 10 mph is one car length away" for example you're going 40mph stay 4 car lengths away, 60mph, 6, and so on
the car being on doesn't necessarily matter in the DUI case, generally the intent to drive is enough, so things like just being in the drivers seat or having the key in the ignition can get you a DUI
#8,, in my county (Riverside, CA) so many people have fought the red light camera shot ticket (and won) that it was costing the city too much money to keep them running, so they literally took all of them down. It was good attempt to prevent people from running the red lights but it wasn't really effective as people found a loophole in the system.
+Danny tottally....If you get caught for any thing or breaking the law...Just pass a 100 rupees bill thats around 2 dollars...and the cops are happy to leave you.
#6 I'd say that's an emergency. If a car is stopped in moving traffic, it could very well cause an accident. My more childish side says to hit said person, with witnesses who saw her stopped at a green light as I hit her to see what the cop says. Odds are, it's her fault. You CAN NOT be stopped for no reason in moving traffic. It's illegal. Just like if you rear end someone while texting. It's the same thing. Careless operation. Now don't honk at the person 2 seconds after the light turns green, but after 5 seconds, you're getting honked at. Because if I get hit, I'm the one who gets injured because of someone's carelessness. If I could be physically hurt, that's an emergency.
If I bought dedicated snow tires to give me more control over winter driving, while majority of people use all seasons, shouldn't limit my speed to what's safe & prudent for them.
He forgot "No crossing solid white lines". Also, for the tailgating, I was taught the "2 second rule". But I'm pretty sure I'm he only one that was taught either of these.
For the DUI your car does not even have to he on. I had a roommate that got a DUI because keys were in the ignition...... He was listening to music and sleeping in a parking lot to drive home in the morning. Got woken up by a cop knocking on his window.....tried to do the right thing and still got screwed!
Law #11: It is illegal to let you noob driver friend pilot your Gallardo, or any other supercar.

I'm always using it while driving, and when someone don't use it, drivers get very angry
we use something called a turn signal...
Great stuff, Parker.
the advertisement for this video said "whats more American than baseball, Apple pie, and a bald eagle. a Toyota tundra" Toyota is a foreign company😂😂
I've tried to get my license 6 times in a row and every time the secretary of states office had issues each single time
those last two ones are funny. i actually had a 2016 mustang until last month.
For number 4 in Wisconsin the only way you can pass a loading or unloading school bus is if you are on the other side of a divided highway as well.
it is actually illegal to undertake in some areas in America in general (that includes Canada, US and Mexico), for those that dont know what undertaking is, it is passing on the right or left depending on what side of the road you drive on (depending on the country) so for example in the UK undertaking would be passing on the left. but like many of these laws named im sure it is not enforced as some of the laws named well at least 1 is ridiculous. if the cop feels like you are tailgating he can ticket you. where i live (Canada) you're supposed to drive 2 seconds behind another driver's rear bumper. so lets say the car ahead passes a feature in the road ahead well by the time they are done passing it should take you 2 seconds to pass it aswell. in many cases Police wont enforce it as it is not really a problem but if they see you are being erratic and all that you can bet your ass they will be coming to right you a ticket
for tailgating what happened to the "for every 10 mph is one car length away" for example you're going 40mph stay 4 car lengths away, 60mph, 6, and so on
"I look Ford to seeing you"
i was honestly expecting things like turning left into the outside lane but driving while high?
that escalated quickly
flipping birdies, intentionally blinding someone with high beams or at least trying to, not using turn signals or using signals too little too late
the car being on doesn't necessarily matter in the DUI case, generally the intent to drive is enough, so things like just being in the drivers seat or having the key in the ignition can get you a DUI
#8,, in my county (Riverside, CA) so many people have fought the red light camera shot ticket (and won) that it was costing the city too much money to keep them running, so they literally took all of them down. It was good attempt to prevent people from running the red lights but it wasn't really effective as people found a loophole in the system.
want your lambo back? get some more knaawledge from the hills inside the garage which is a reminder to the mentors 😂😂
The last two. I'm so dead 😂
All these things are bullshit if you are in India. We have got some awesome cops.
Lol. And i bet you have many more deaths. Hope awesome cops are ok with that
+Danny tottally....If you get caught for any thing or breaking the law...Just pass a 100 rupees bill thats around 2 dollars...and the cops are happy to leave you.
+Manish Bag I'm saying thats bad because people won't car and more people will break the law which means more deaths...
+Danny care*
+Danny certainty.
If I could be physically hurt, that's an emergency.
wait, am I the only one that picked up on him using his phone while driving as he tells us about illegal things people do while driving?
If I bought dedicated snow tires to give me more control over winter driving, while majority of people use all seasons, shouldn't limit my speed to what's safe & prudent for them.
I'm from Ohio but when I've vacationed in Florida if there is rain, EVERYBODY turns on their hazards. Crazy stuff.
Where I come from we turn on our headlights
He forgot "No crossing solid white lines".
Also, for the tailgating, I was taught the "2 second rule".
But I'm pretty sure I'm he only one that was taught either of these.
#3 happens all the time in Florida when it rains
If it's unsafe to stop at an intersection but you get a ticket cause it turned red as you went through, you better fight that shit
For the DUI your car does not even have to he on. I had a roommate that got a DUI because keys were in the ignition...... He was listening to music and sleeping in a parking lot to drive home in the morning. Got woken up by a cop knocking on his window.....tried to do the right thing and still got screwed!
