Hi Nathan! I know that at least 379013 was fitted with batteries. The future of these units is not known so they may well join another operator requiring the batteries. I believe the same technology which was tested in the 379s will also be used in the 377s to remove their diesel trains.
@@StarlifeStudios I agree. Those diesels from Southern need replacing and they are on my local line. I hope they put batteries in the 377s and use the third rail to charge them.
If Greater Anglia were to keep the Class 379s and to convert the Class 379s with batteries then it could be ideal to operate them on the Marks Tey-Sudbury branch line and Ipswich-Felixstowe branch line on battery power. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_379
Love this - one of my favourites. Used to love getting the train from King’s Lynn and passing through Ely and Cambridge on the way to London. Great to get that double-headed 66 at the end there too. Nice to see the station’s still busy with plenty of movements 👍
University city in Cambridgeshire. One Sunday, a few years ago, I boarded a Class 170 (first class) to Ipswich and then the class 90 to London Liverpool Street. In 1999, I took the fast train to London Kings Cross, non stop.
Great video. I thought 379s removed the Stansted Express off cause the 745s took over them and I remembered that 379001 use to have no black triangle and white show next to the nose but now it got fixed 👍.
Hi Arnold, I think in the present day (Jan 2021) all the StanEx services are 745s. I didn’t realise that about 379001, I’ll take a look at when I went to Cheshunt to see if I saw that unit in June. Thanks for taking the time to comment 👍🏻
Unfortunately Greater Anglia won’t be keeping the Class 379 Electrostars because they have ordered an extra 44 Class 720s that will make the total of 133 Class 720s to operate on the Great Eastern Main Line, West Anglia Main Line and branch lines in Essex. And I do think that the Class 379s are to be moved for storage but not scrapped since they were built in 2010-2011. And Bombardier to convert them into BEMU just like unit 379013 was converted with batteries fitted. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_379
Thanks Ricky, I’m surprised you haven’t been here! It’s a nice station with always something going on. I was going to go back here for the east coast diverts next weekend but.. well Covid. Thanks for your awesome comments as always 😃
Thanks EJC, the bad weather always seems to follow me, even to Wales! Pretty sure after I got on 170109 and the sky’s opened. I would like to go back here, I don’t really think I gave the station that much credit. There are some interesting coupling and separating that occurs here at some points in the day, as well as the freight that avoids the station entirely. Maybe this is a good livestream station 🤔. Thanks for watching as always 😃
@@StarlifeStudios Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk are notorious areas for big summer thunderstorms after a very hot day 😊 You’d be hard pushed to come to Wales for 9 months of the year and not see it raining 🤩☔️ yes I guess there is good activity coupling/uncoupling those EMU’s? 🤔👍🏽
Hello Jake! At bigger stations I tend to do two things; firstly, I check if there is a help/customer service desk and then let them know what I’d like to do. Sometimes your given an ID or asked to sign in. Secondly, if that first one isn’t possible, then I alert the platform staff of where I’ll be and what I’m doing. Waterloo gave me a Visitor ID, Euston didn’t but the BTP gave me a visit whilst filming. Overall, it’s just common sense 😃 Thanks for watching.
Hi Anakin, all trains that run on the UK rail network are given a dedicated four character identity, known as a headcode. I use a website like opentimetrains or realtimetrains to match up my sightings to the headcodes. Thanks for the question 🙂
@@StarlifeStudios Wow interesting, so will the head code change or remain the same if the train start a new journey? (I'm Hong Konger but I have an interest in British railway. I have subscribed to you 😊)
A bit of both Jon! I had watched a video by @KTV Videos at Cambridge prior to filming this and he said that “rear horns always seemed to happen at Cambridge”.. I certainly proved that true!! The horn is also very similar to classic APT tones as well, all round goodness.
Well, since Cambridge North opened,Greater Anglia do not use it as often, but GN/Thameslink used to run a London-Cambridge semi fast, but I think it got cut back to Royston.
Tonbridge would be interesting Mainline from London to Ashford Mainline from London to Hastings Branch line from Tonbridge to Reading And of course the yard
It freaked me out! The worst part is that it happened to me earlier in this day at Ipswich too (video on my channel) It seems like the GA guards are just very friendly. Thanks John.
Cambridge is quite a good railway station with different trains coming to/from London, Norwich and the Midlands. Including Great Northern Class 387/1 Electrostar and Class 365 Networker. Thameslink Class 700 Desiro City. Greater Anglia Class 317, Class 755 Flirt and Class 379 Electrostar. And Crosscountry Class 170 Turbostar. Plus maybe Great Northern might inherit the Class 379 Electrostar with Greater Anglia replacing them with the Class 720 Aventra as well the Class 317 also being replaced. Great video as always. 👍👍
I love how you let us know that where the trains have come from and where they are going to
I know that one of the Class 379s had a battery in it temporarily but I wished it was kept and fitted into all the units.

Another excellent film bud, Cambridge is a great station to go to. I must go there more often
You really should! I don't think I gave this station much recognition as I was only there for half an hour. Thanks for watching as always Tornado :)

Nice to see Double GBRF sheds head to whitemoor I thought one of them have a new livery but no.
Yes it was great to see the 66s on this route, the Fen Line is one of the best places to see GBRf operates trains heading from the east to west.

How are the public taking to the new great anglia trains
They are extremely good however most of us miss the 90s and older stock
I miss the 90s soo much 😭 Although the 745s are a worthy replacement.. could have been worse could have been a Hitachi IEPs..
Or Siemens Desiro City Class 7xx just like on Thameslink lol
Nice doubleheader train spot
Great railway video as always.
Thank You Imperialist, I didn’t give any notice on this one, I’ve been super busy with other things but I’m glad you enjoyed it 😃

what is the name of the camera that you use to record your videos
