I feel like people tend to overlook how good the creators of this show are at composing. I think a lot of the songs suffer a bit in the name of the plot because they have to make it feel like the show is falling apart to maintain that horror aspect, but when the songs are composed as full pieces they work wonderfully.

a thing i noticed in the opening is that the "there's just three of us" may be a reference to wakey wakey, it had a lot of new characters, and while the new show also has new characters, the main focus is the original trio also, in the end of the opening, the frames are organized like some of the photos in the Interview with the puppets
There was also a reference in episode 5 to Clayhill, the old town in which the previous TV series of DHMIS took place in but the GPS said that it didn’t exist anymore, so that’s another gimmick

i love how yellow guy is just dumb at first with his friends. but then later on in the episode is yellow guy panicking and telling the people at the screen or a living object to stop singing or needs help and his friends red guy and duck dont even care or notice. this shows yellow guy isnt dumb after all. hes just trying to ask help in every episode. no one seems to pay attention to him.
I love how the intros get more and more morbid as you go down the list of episodes. Episodes one, two and three have lighthearted and even funny intros but episode 4 makes Red guy scream about their living conditions, episode 5 makes Yellow guy enter a downward spiral over the events in the next episode and episode 6 throws no punches and just throws us straight in with the "hold on, this isn't so lighthearted anymore...." We don't even get the upbeat intro, just a feeling of uncannyness as the house is spun around.

Idk what it is about the intros, but they make me feel so secure for some reason. Idk what it is, but it just does. It reminds me of having trouble sleeping when I was younger and watching children's shows.

I'm going to extremely overanalyze this intro and then the show because it's so damn interesting. Something interesting to note is the intro's tagline can stay the exact same "There's two of us" "There's one of me" Perfectly on beat still. Now about the episodes themselves. Very first episode is weird because the teacher isn't there like, at all. He disappears into a closet and turns into a first aid kit. Does this mean something? I don't think so. The stress song is actually the most interesting part because of the lyrics: "Imagine all your thoughts are in a cube" "And the cube is made of nothing" "And the cube is actually you." So if Duck is supposed to be the cube, does this mean he isn't real? There is some evidence supporting this theory actually. Fast forward to episode two and the blob thing mentions "Some people think we're in a simulation." Now this is obviously supposed to be a gag line....RIGHT? Well fast forward to episode five and the answer is there. They *are* in a simulation. The glitches, the sudden contrast of disgusting dull garbage compared to their soft fluffy green landscape. Also on the topic of Duck himself, let's discuss the whole 'bullying' aspect of DHMIS. The webseries (Or 'season one') bullies Yellow guy. A lot. This was because Roy was punishing him according to an article (www.itsnicethat.com/features/dont-hug-me-im-scared-interview-030516[Roy, do you have anything to add? Roy: My silly boy has allowed his eyes to grow arrogant and rude, for this I will take him on a trip to punish land.]) So, an occuring theme in season two is Duck being singled out. Not getting a job, being the one to die, not having a family and in fact being denied one, nothing notable in episode four actually, or five for that matter, or six I believe. But it's odd because does that mean he's being punished too? Let's also talk about the awakening aspect. In the webseries Red was the one who was always aware everything is wrong, he still is, but now Yellow is equally aware, along with Duck. I wonder if they're going to break out? Also, Red screaming "And we're living in a nightmare." Is SO jarring it's perfect. That honestly wasn't a theory, just speculation. But still it's interesting to see everything layed out and potential outcomes.

Adding to your “duck always getting bullied” aspect, with the theory of Lesley being Yellow guy’s mother and him dying by a car accident, it was cause of the gift of a bird making him go on the street. This could be why Duck is always targeted, Lesley blames the animal for her son’s death.
Another addition to the duck keeps getting bullied thing, Lesley only has replacements that we know of for duck, and there’s nowhere else for there to be replacements. This could mean that duck keeps getting bullied because Lesley has so many of them (ducks are more common than red string things and yellow pigs)
2:17 body full maggots, its the "OG" (at least the one from ep1) that died, like the paper predicted. The flesh thing replaces the og bird's picture on the fridge, while og bird gets a new one in the "4 of us" song, every episode after this one keeps the pink paint picture. In episode 6 when yellow drops the bird figurine his body tumbles and his head falls in the same way as his episode 2 decapitation. And the end shows there are enough spares for a while.

Some of the intros show the characters becoming self-aware sometimes. Like red guy and yellow guy. Red guy says they're living in a nightmare and yellow guy foreshadows some of the events.

So, an occuring theme in season two is Duck being singled out. Not getting a job, being the one to die, not having a family and in fact being denied one, nothing notable in episode four actually, or five for that matter, or six I believe. But it's odd because does that mean he's being punished too? Let's also talk about the awakening aspect. In the webseries Red was the one who was always aware everything is wrong, he still is, but now Yellow is equally aware, along with Duck. I wonder if they're going to break out?
Also, Red screaming "And we're living in a nightmare." Is SO jarring it's perfect.

Adding to your “duck always getting bullied” aspect, with the theory of Lesley being Yellow guy’s mother and him dying by a car accident, it was cause of the gift of a bird making him go on the street. This could be why Duck is always targeted, Lesley blames the animal for her son’s death.
Another addition to the duck keeps getting bullied thing, Lesley only has replacements that we know of for duck, and there’s nowhere else for there to be replacements. This could mean that duck keeps getting bullied because Lesley has so many of them (ducks are more common than red string things and yellow pigs)

Every-time I watched the intros all I could think was: I bet the crew was going mad from the instrumentals while remaking puppet intro's with new subtle things.

In intro 1, the last one to talk was duck, then in the next episode he was the protagonist. In intro 2 it was yellow guy, then yellow guy again, then red guy and lastly yellow.
In the last one maybe no one has something special to not spoil next season
Some of the intros show the characters becoming self-aware sometimes. Like red guy and yellow guy. Red guy says they're living in a nightmare and yellow guy foreshadows some of the events.
