Changed out a new Yamaha 6hp outboard for a used 2018 Honda 8hp outboard!!
Max speed went from 18km/h with the 6hp to 28km/h with the 8hp Honda.
Next upgrades will be a trailer and plywood floor!

Great video about the Tobin/Honda8hp Combo. Still, the stars were your fine boys. They both look like two great reasons to have children. They must have quite an awesome Dad too.
Very nice boat, looks like a great set up! Worked with a few guys from Newfoundland at the tar sands project in Alberta back in 2008. Tried jared moose meat they brought back, loved it! Wasn’t so keen on the seal meat! Regards from Scotland! 🏴

The 8 horsepower and the 9.9 are the same engine, just different fuel injection. I put a 9.9 on my 9ft inflatable and also a whales tail. She's a scooten machine.

I keep mine inflated all the time and just throw it on top of the car until I sort out a trailer for it.
once you get the hang if it, its 25 minute to unpack and assemble the boat, 10 minute take down time. So not bad (I've done it 4 times). Trick is to have an automatic pump (I use a Dewalt inflator and just hold the nozzle to the attachment). Also tape or glue foam to your bench seats to make comfy cushions (use yoga mat).
How long does your 9hp motor take to consume all the fuel? How many distance can you go?
I’ve got a 6 gallon tank and have not run out of gas yet. I’ve been out for 4-5 hours. I’ll have to test that in a couple of months and see just how far and how long I can go.
Is that short or long shaft motor ?

Excellent on the Ocean! Proceed with caution tho. I have a decade of experience sea kayaking, so I am very familiar with the ocean around here and went out prepared with safety equipment.
Is that safety lanyard connected to you?
Yes just around the wrist

8 is about 10km/h faster and gets up to speed much faster. If you’re going to have 2-3 adults you’ll want and 8 or probably even a 9.9.
@@newfoundland-adventures I have a Tobin as well, looking at a Honda 9.9 or 15hp . What would you recommend from your experience? Would the 9.9 be good enough? (will mostly be just me and my 15yr old son) Thanks, Don..
