Scanlan throwing out the name "Burt" is an Easter egg back to the campaign where Scanlan used the alias "Burt Reynolds, Esquire" as one of his many fake names.
@@TheJerbol its literally going to be season 3 lmfao. I guarantee you they will definitely do something that is marginally similar if they dont do the exact quote.
Scalan is old enough that he probably has several kids around Tal'dorei, possibly one or two in Wildemount too, but Kaylie was the only one who was determined enough to come after him to get revenge for what he did to her mother by leaving her alone. To be fair, he didn't set out to make kids, it's more that he didn't think of the consequences his casual flings might have down the road. I quite like Percy in this episode. Demonstrating that he can be a very stupid highly intelligent person. XD And Vax'ildan finally gets to speak to his goddess. Yes, there is a reason she didn't just speak to him before. But now that he has come into her domain willingly to seek a greater understanding, she can provide that. A bit part of the Matron of Raven's domain is to maintain the sanctity of death. Because there are both mortals and other gods that would gladly create undead or use the souls of dying mortals for their own very unpleasant purposes. Like food. Or a soul engine. And yeah, the fight with Umbrasyl gets pretty intense. Ancient dragons are no joke, and he certainly shows why. Getting inside the dragon to place an immovable rod/sword happened both in the stream and the animation. In the stream it was via Dimension Door (a type of teleport spell) and here, well, you saw the prostate exam for yourselves. :D
Each dragon can easily work out to a season because there is so much prep questing and backstory resolution from the stream for them to take us through. And the conclave STILL isn't the end of the season. Shit keeps ramping up and it kicks ass.
This episode really epitomizes the tabletop RPG experience tbh. From profound, game-changing conversations with actual gods, to trying that REALLY wild idea, and everything in between, with no real boundaries between them. That's what I love SO much about TTRPGs (and I think that they've done a brilliant job catching some of that energy with this show). When the stories you tell are built as you move through the world, just like they are in life, profound moments that stay with you forever can happen right alongside things so ridiculous you're laughing too hard to talk. I'll be sad when you finish reacting to this, I've loved your take on this show! Always hilarious, but also insightful AF. Can't WAIT for season 3! It's going to be intense.
Just to be clear, Brimscythe was the only low level dragon. The rest of them are easily high level boss level, and their not even the final boss of the campaign.
Dragons just want gold...that's about it. Minor spoiler -- we learn a little more next episode. 13:23 -- Welcome to Critical Role. You guys had me LOLing!
The Matron of Ravens doesn't (possibly can't?) speak with the living. To talk to her you have to be on the brink of death. This is why her followers have such terrible rites. It's why Vax has to drown to have a conversation with her. It's why most of his big breakthrough moments with her happen when he is about to die.
It's not that she doesn't/can't speak with the Living. Everyone who doesn't already have a strong connection to a deity has to go to a temple to speak directly with them due to the Divine Gate. Pike had to do that with the Everlight through a special ritual last season.
Your reaction to this episode didn't disappoint me. Kaylie's confrontation, Raven Matron's talk with Vax, and the Draconic anal probe (which didn't happen in the actual play) made this my favorite episode. Hold on to your nuts for the Season Finale; this ride will be a doozy.
I was once told "the real measure of how smart and knowledgeable on something you are, is being able to simplify it for others to understand, Percy clearly hasn't reached that level if he's using technical terms to a bunch of literal Barbarians
You have now properly met the Matron and seen what she's about. Vax has finally talked to her, and you'll get to see in future episodes just what happens when you become the Champion of a deity and are on the same page with them. Of the 4 dragons we have at this point, Umbrasyl is our weakest.
For the sake of re-engagement going into s3: 8:53 . That line, "Look, something has always been lacking in me, and I think you might be it." Is a huge moment for Scanlan's arc, and colors the next episode's cold open even deeper if you keep it in mind. Imagine what Scanlan's "best dream" used to be, and how quickly it changed.
I discovered this channel today looking for TLOVM reaction vids and I tell you, I LIVE for the gentleman on the right going "...freakass" at Scanlan (who's my very favourite character too, so yay) because man, he does deserve it! That shit is delightful. And the fact that the episode that got the most "freakass" comments was 2.07 for *Garmelie* (and not Scanlan!) was so freakin' hilarious I laughed till I cried XD
Forgive my ignorance but I'm not too familiar with DND lore but from what I'm understanding the Matron of Ravens doesn't seem so bad there is no twisted or evil catch you serve as her champion and ensure souls transition to the next life essentially it seems to me he's like the grim reaper and considering the power and dope armor you get in exchange that honestly doesn't seem too bad of a deal unless I'm wrong about all of that like I said I'm not too Familiar with DND lore.
I don't think this is a big spoiler, but they look to be wrapping up the Chroma Conclave story next season. There's one more big villain they have to face that will probably take two seasons themselves.

Which they also reference at the end. Instead of his own name, he says, 'You leave when Burt Reynolds says you can leave'
@@TheJerbol yea but that scene hasnt happened yet. lmfao
@@DevilWearsAdidas its not going to either

Umbrasyl’s violation was truly one of the most hilarious scenes! 🤣 his reaction to a straight up no lube entry had me dyin

I've been waiting for this episode. I'm glad they explained how the Matron of Raven works. She isn't actually evil, she's just neutral.
Scanlan has taken enter the dragon to a whole new level.
Gold
😅😂❤
His kung fu is strong.
What always got me was the foreshadowing. They've been doing "butt stuff" since episode 2, and it was practically a theme of the whole season.
When I saw that moment when Scanlan and Vax... did the thing... I had exactly the same reaction you guys had.
I knew you guys would enjoy that “entrance” scene lol. It was hilarious and your reaction made it even more hilarious.
Shit, Umbrasyl better HOPE he dies before the other dragons hear about this.
oh lord, the laughter feedback loop really got me at the end 🤣🤣
10:34 That flinch. 😃 I'm guessing Soldier doesn't do that very often.

It was the way Scanlan's Hand fired in with two probing fingers that had me on the floor!! Lmao!! 😂😂
Okay, Hope Devourer, take a deep breath and relax.
Trying to picture this dragon wearing a diaper for the next fight just sent me... I'm dead 😂
I love this show so much

There's a long-ass lore reason why D&D dragons hoard treasure, but it's pretty much because dragons.
Basic lore is that dragons are obsessed with developing a horde. Their desire for gold is just the most common way it's expressed.

I love the scene with the Raven Queen. It’s a beautiful display to show that she is not evil, but chaotic neutral.
Beautiful is right. Visually and otherwise.
90% sure she's true neutral like most death deities, but yeah
@@ElliWoelfin You and pickles would both be wrong. She's lawful neutral.
@@ShadowyFox_86 I know it's one of the two but she doesn't give a super lawful vibe to me so I didn't go with that, though it was my first thought
If she was Chaotic neutral she would have chosen Grog 😅

Why do I have a feeling you're gonna be laughing over the enema scene for a while? 😂
im in tears 🤣hahaha he's gonna have that diaper ready next season lmfao 💀
this episode shoulda been called "BOOTY OF THE BEAST" !!!!!! 💨👉🌀👀
so this season is mainly about collecting the vestiges to be able to be on level with the dragons, the vestiges are the key to winning.
My man actually tried Burt. 😆
I'd hate to be that dragon and have to explain to the others why he had to run away.
Only one episode left!
11:10 Leafe Village secretu jutsu!!! A thousand years of DEATH!!! SENNEN GOROSHI!!!!
