EDIT - disregard the following, I was clearly in error last year...
While I hold profoundly different ideas from them, if more conservatives sounded like this gentleman I could respect them again. Well done, good sir, on several levels, especially your honesty about mental health, a challenge I and untold millions have shared. A pity so few members were in the House to hear you. I do agree, however, that you should vote with your conscience, not your party whip, regardless of the outcomes.

I deplore the recent style of behaviour displayed by MPs and minsters in Parliament, particularly that of Boris Johnson, who saw fit to abandon mature, adult behaviour in just about everything he did. We need more of the style of this gentlman with whom I'm sure anyone could could have proper grown up debates. I hope the young man will inspire others to follow his example.

Actions do mean more than words, but sometimes words can help with the understanding of certain actions, I'd you bother to listen.
I know ideologues and boomer gammons like you can't comprehend the concept of patience or nuanced ways of working/thinking, but listen to what he says!
It's the same argument that effective progressives like Guy Verhofstat (sic.) made against Brexit. Yes the current situation/leadership isn't great, but you can better change it from the inside progressively winning people over and effecting change than from quitting and shouting abuse from the outside!
Any successful change needs people both inside and outside the establishment to put the pressure on. Otherwise the problem group can just build a baracade and hide safely inside until those trying to force change give up because they can't get in.
Every successful seige had to have some support from inside the fortress to succeed, every policy change had to have people on the inside advocating for the cause too. We just choose to study the outside group more these days because it is more obvious and easier to see, but usually much less effective in the end.
So Mr Wragg is admitting here to being the support on the inside doing what he has to to stay inside so that he can bring the fortress down. Dare I say it, he knows that the Lords will probably block this bill so that it never goes through or only gets through just as the government falls from people like Mr Wragg's efforts and can then be recalled before it causes any real harm in the countryside.
Stop being a Gammon, boomer! Start looking at the whole picture to understand everything that is said/done and how it fits in with achieving the ultimate goal in a practical sense!!

Not as simple as that. Without three line whips, MPs would vote with their conscience, or self interest, and the leading party would have a much harder time getting it's manifesto ahead if it can't guarantee its own members will vote with it.

@@motivationallizard6644 You're wrong on the first part. The UK was the first country in Europe to remove restrictions and open up the UK economy due to the fast rollout administered by the vaccines. The UK approved and enrolled these vaccines first. Which is a testament to the UK Government ability to secure vaccines and the NHS. This meant the UK started to show growth first. The UK economy isn't in a mess because of covid. We have record employment. Infact, we have too many job vacancies. The UK has one of the lowest GDP to debt ratios in the G7. Your assessment about the UK economy is wrong. Record employment, good growth and low debt. Also, the UK has lower inflation compared to other economies. What's caused the current issue is that the Tory Government tried to push a radical tax cutting budget without following due process and consulting the independent financial bodies such as the OBR and the Bank of England. This meant the markets were caught unprepared and briefly lossed confidence in the economy. Everything was reverted when the BoE stepped in and with the reversal of the tax cutting budget. That's it. The issue for the UK is high inflation, which isn't unique to the UK and the issue you're right with is gas prices which again isn't unqiue to the UK. What is unique to the UK is the Tory Government acting without thinking. Although the UK has had a temporary blip, much of Europe might actually freeze this winter as they don't have the financial ability of the UK to borrow vast sums to pay the energy costs. The sad reality is the Tory Government over 12 years did not build enough nuclear power plants. They refused fracking. And now the UK went from a net energy exporter to a energy importer. The housing market is still booming despite inflation rises. House prices are 20% higher then last year. The currency dropped against the dollar which is unusually strong but euro has dropped a similar proportion.

However, the fracking moratorium was also in the manifesto and they are debating whether or not to go back on that, and they also promised no rise in direct taxes which they've already gone back on. She was also 100 percent committed to her chancellor and tax cutting right up to the moment hunt axed it. I think I'd rather take Bojos word for something rather than her.

The Tories have had 12 years, and in this time they've offered precious little hope to the British public. They are approaching the end of their current time in power. And the situation is that we are collectively much worse off as a country than we were in 2010. It's all there - the record speaks for itself. And it's a miserable one.
It's time to give Labour a chance in power again. The Tories are too divided and too consumed with towing the party line.

She did exactly what she had been asserting during the debates and campaigns where she had been arguing for the national Tax Policy change. By all accounts she is consistent in her Mini Budget soon after getting elected to the office.
Clearly there is no U Turn on her part in any of her promised actions to Cut Tax.
In the first place why her party elected her to the post if her declared policies prior to becoming the PM were unacceptable? The very same people are opposing her now, in the face of nationwide opposition and the criticisms she is receiving from the rest of the world.
Is it fair to blame the PM after causing huge damage to the countries economy? This whole fiasco, of which the country is brought to shame, could have been easily avoided only by the thoughtful actions of the people.
Why there is so much confusion, anger in UK, the mother of democracy?

I am very uncomfortably forced to violate my conscience on fracking because it is a confidence vote and I won't go to that extreme, and because voting against would set the Whip on me, I'd lose my position and influence within the party, and be unable to lead a backbench action, for the good of the country, if it comes to it".
