SSCS CICCedu 2019 - Wireline Link Budgeting and Modeling - Presented by Ganesh Balamurugan

Abstract:
Accurate link modeling and budgeting is key for designing 50+Gbps wireline systems. This talk provides a quick overview of current approaches employed for this purpose. In particular, it reviews the use of Channel Operation Margin (COM) for link budgeting and time-domain behavioral models for link analysis, with illustrative design examples.
Bio:
Ganesh Balamurugan received the B.Tech degree in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2004. Since 2004, he has been with Intel Corporation where he is a principal engineer working on high-speed wireline circuits. His research interests include energy-efficient electrical / optical link design, silicon photonics-based communication circuits and system level optimization of electro-optical links.
