Network Engineers are not going to come from universities' degrees, because by the time you finish that stupid four-year degree, a Cisco CCIE has updated their certificate two times, making them more relevant than a university graduate with a curriculum that gets updated every 20 years, a cost to do CCIE is 500k to do, exam center I know is in Dubai, and it takes three days to write, on the last day you build a lab from scratch with stacks of switches and routers and map the network, by the way, following your degree, the job market expects you to have a CCIE certification rather than a computer science degree. A UCT or MIT professor must sit and take notes when a CCIE is troubleshooting an outage network

I'm in high school and I'm really confused right now...so now we're not supposed to follow our dreams and work on what we're good at but rather work on what is in higher demand? Look if u chase your dreams there is high chance u won't get alot of money or have enough money until can't work eg pension fund or disability fund, because alot of people's dreams aren't 9-5 or 8-4. But if u chase employment u are guaranteed the pension and disability funds, and protection from work rights(lack of a better word) and workers organizations

The need it's updated 2 years it takes 4 years to complete a degree 😭 there are people with IT degrees still unemployed

The biggest biggest problem we have here as a country full of intellects and lots of potential breakthrough is resources.. there is much too much delusion over the reality of the resources that's available versus what is presented is available to give ..
Then why are the universities keeping those courses that aren't in demand💀
You can say that again. I feel like universities should encourage students to apply for these courses that are in high demand. Anyone can fell free to apply for whatever they want but universities should make an effort to make sure applicants know the state of the course they are applying for.
Network Engineers are not going to come from universities' degrees, because by the time you finish that stupid four-year degree, a Cisco CCIE has updated their certificate two times, making them more relevant than a university graduate with a curriculum that gets updated every 20 years, a cost to do CCIE is 500k to do, exam center I know is in Dubai, and it takes three days to write, on the last day you build a lab from scratch with stacks of switches and routers and map the network, by the way, following your degree, the job market expects you to have a CCIE certification rather than a computer science degree. A UCT or MIT professor must sit and take notes when a CCIE is troubleshooting an outage network
Its very hard to hire people

i was once a government employee now turned business man ...what made me go into business was this government not making provision for the same positions they say they need filled ..the will then terminate your employment because they say they dont have the budget even though there is a shortage ...which is a lie but thats the government we have
the country needs creativity to boost our economy the mention jobs post in our country is absolute. understand we cant start our own projects due to lack of manufacturing our own. so importing it from other counties its expensive in the financial sector. Like America 70% of its economy come from California Silicon Valley Dedicated to the economy. so other countries must buy they technology or use its platform
Regarless of what is said here even if you graduated and have qualifications nepotism its still high, we must be tought to create jobs not to look for jobs and our goverment failed us a long time ago instead the hire people from foreign countries like Cuba

Also apply for expatriate work, many guys work outside RSA, FIFO basis mostly zim guys, there is money out there in mozambique, zambia, DRC, Guinea, Mauritania, Eritrea shockingly even Zim.

A shift in mind set ! People want easy things !! Everyone wants to be in the entertainment field !! Slay ! etc People take courses that drive world 🌎/State economy. Energy , Medecine and Technology you cannot have enough !
