Sadly I can relate to this guy. I can't help but shut down and go mute when I get cussed out and yelled at. I used to get beat by my parents whenever I stood up for myself or talked back, so I learned the best way to protect myself was to sit there and take it until they shut up, kinda go into another world I guess. I hope he got away too! She is completely unhinged, thinks that is acceptable and he responds as if this is "normal." I totally wondered what his mother (or parents) were like.
My older brother was married to an abusive woman. Our mom's rage was evident when she told me about the marks she had seen on his back that his wife had left. It immediately shot me back to one specific event where our mother repeatedly hit him in the back of his head with the heel of her palm while yelling profanities and following him toward his room as he walked away - his back to her. Although both of us had our share of this treatment, somehow watching it happen to him was so inexplicably terrifying to me. She seemed like a crazed drug addict utterly lacking self-control.
When visiting him he recounted a time his wife was angry and poured hot water on him because he had fallen asleep. His wife's words to me in response to that were, "If I don't sleep, no one sleeps." It was my very first time meeting her. I have never told our mother I felt it was her fault he accepted such conduct due to her acclimating him to such behavior. I agree with the sentiment expressed by sandirichard5461. If you have not already, mine your inner world to excise the parts and those who treat you despicably (often under the guise of "love"). Recalibrate. i've known couples like this who acted exactly like this in public (some the men are controlling and public spectacles, some the women).
in all but one case, the one who was quiet in public was every bit as toxic to the other among small get-togethers or around roommates. you really can't judge these relationships from how they act in public because the self-restraint to not be abusive in public is easier than that to do so in private.

I have unfortunately been in this type of situation with my ex. In the middle of a grocery store parking lot. All I was able to do was sit there and stare at my feet, or out the window of the vehicle we were in. Watching everyone around us, look at us in disgust. Verbal, emotional and physical abuse is as serious as it gets. No one should be put in that situation, EVER! The worst part is my child was sitting between us as it happened. Thankfully my child and I are away from the abuse, but it still left its mark on me. I cannot speak for my child but I am sure it took its toll on them as well.
If you are in that type of situation, please please please find peace. Get somewhere safe and find someone who will Love you for you! Love is not manipulation and abuse! Thank you Xenoshot! ❤

So. Here's a little story time for ya. When a woman is doing this to a man a man has choices and he has to go into his head and ask some questions. Ok first question is do I want to try to diffuse or engage. Ideally both can be done at the same time but consider the mental state of the woman here so that seems to be out. Ok so now as a man you go in your head and you say well... how can i get out of this? If I engage is she going to become physical? If she does become physical what should I do? I'm bigger and can cause serious injury. So was he tolerating it? Or was he just in a horrible no win situation? Think deeper. Get educated. I really can't stand that comment. It's like you are saying this woman isn't a threat to this man. It's like saying when you're in a war you are tolerating being shot at. It's makes no sense if you stop and think

Or… maybe this video clip just happens to show someone at their breaking point. For all we know this guy is a gaslighting narcissistic sociopath to her behind closed doors. Maybe she just saw another woman’s number is his phone, maybe saw some inappropriate texts, or found out he’s been cheating on her. Something set her off, no matter how trivial, until we know what that was. All we can blame and judge her for, is her lack of social surroundings and maturity to control her emotional response in a very public place.

@@shortshift327That's a crazy reach. Even if that's true, which is super unlikely, that doesn't give this girl a pass to act a fool and scream like a banshee in an airport

No you wouldn't. He has been broken-in by that woman. Its typical in abused spouses. An irrational fear of escalation so you try to please them by staying. The only thing that can help him is other people

I remember when I was traveling from Japan to Newark, NJ. I was just on a 12-13 hour flight and had to go through security again. I was in a group and some of the people in our group were pulled for searches or something. I was jet lagged and had to get on another flight. We barely made our flight. I get why people act like this, traveling is stressful. I’m not excusing it, but I don’t think that people should take their anger out on someone.

I hope that guy leaves her. Situations like this dont end well and can sometimes lead to violence. I have seen this happen too many times, and usually the woman will act like she's the victim.

he could be sitting there hoping some cops are called and take her away, because being a male, if he yells or anything HE will be accused of being the problem.
its entirely likely she's got that stalker mentality and he's tried getting rid of her and can't.

I was in a situation like that. If I had raised my voice back to her, she would have it would have gone badly for me, meanwhile, she would scream at me for hours. She even told me that she would give herself a black eye and call the cops on me. I did get away from her. But I don't trust anymore.
