Great explanation of the use of the static film. The little orange plastic pry bar is not for prying the mount off the glass, it is to tuck the wire into the headliner, “A”pillar and under dashboard trim without dismantling those pieces. It is a common tool found in any mechanics toolbox.
Its great that you allowed us to see that you put it on upside down after warning us not to do that... and we got to see how to fix it! something I would absolutely do myself. Great Video! ;-)
I purchased the RoveR2-4K dash cam to record my off-road trails in Colorado. I had the suction mount, it never fell off but there was a terrible vibration that basically rendered the video unusable. Will this Rove Sticky Mount prevent the vibrations so apparent on gravel roads?
Hello Grant, I have several of these ROVE DashCams and as many have experienced issues with the suction cup mounts falling off so I now have a mirror bracket mount which works well. I recently bought the newer version of this ROVE camera and want to install the older ROVE on the rear tailgate and all’s well with running the cable and rear plug in power supply and camera works great but due to the rear defroster lines the suction cup after time falls off. I’m wondering if I use the electrostatic film on the rear defroster grids and one day need to remove the film is it so sticky will it damage the grids. I’m guessing yes so then my only option would be use the sticky mount directly to the glass between the grid lines. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thank you, Tony
Measure the sticky mount. Cut a piece of the electrostatic film the same size. It should fit between the defroster grids without touching. Then apply your stiçky mount to the electrostatic film.
Terrific video/tutorial, and thank you! The electrostatic film looks to be quite large to where it would potentially obstruct the quality of the video being recorded by the camera. Is it? And do you think it would still work as well if you cut the film to be the size of the small rectangle in the center (where you place the mount)?
Great information. I would have probably mounted upside down also 😂 . Do you hide it when away from the car? Just concerned some fool will try to take it
The whole point of the static film is to not leave a residue if you ever have to remove it. I don't think it was designed to be reusable. I imagine if you kept the static film clean and then reapplied it to another clean surface would be reusable.

Thanks, good to know
Great clip, especially as it shows us how not to do it and then how to recover from the mistake... It answers all the questions :)
Thank you!
Love that you made a little mistake, as we all have, and shared it with us.
@@dougnstuff that's what I'm here for! 😁

Well Grant, I'm glad I watched this video. Thank you, sir.
I'm glad you found it too!
This was so helpful! Thank you!

Probably not. You're better off getting a gopro. It has really great built in stabilization
Thank you!
Happy to help!

anyway to mount it from the bottom on a rail for the dash, kinda like a gopro?
You can simply use the stickey mount instead if the film

No, the camera sits low enough that it doesn't obstruct the view
Can this electrostatic film be mounted on the black dots at the top of the windshield?
@@chuckjohnson5195 I don't think so
Where do I get that film?
It came in the box with my dashcam
Grant can you unscrew the suction base and does it have a 1/4" screw?
@@webblaroque5876 I don't think it has a screw

No I don't hide it. They don't know if it's always recording or not
I've found you cant remove the adhesive from the film dropped my static now use less
