It's almost 3 AM. I don't have a Lego city, i don't own a single roadplate. Yet i'm sitting through this entire video. Ads and all. I have no idea why. 🙂
This was one of the best tutorials. Really enjoy the step by step explained with what parts & pieces are needed. Would love this style again in the future
I kind of wish they would have just made one big plate for the roads, rather than having to work in a bunch of little 2x4s or whatever. Just one piece, 16x16, two plates high, two corners have a top lip, two have a bottom lip. I get that it's not as customizable that way, but it gets the job done and looks cleaner than all the squares all over the road top
That is a great way. A more cost effective way that I incorporated the new road plates in my city was that Robin Hood bricks system which used less parts to do. I love your content you guys are amazing but there is another way to incorporate them into the city. Thank you for what you guys do!
I'm currently organizing my LEGO pieces right now, but when I'm done (and once my room is better organized), I'm thinking of constructing a small city segment on my LEGO Table. Unfortunately, it's not much larger than 2×2 Grey Baseplates, so I may only have a few City blocks on it. Regardless, these tutorials are definitely helpful. I will be building the road first to establish a general layout. After that... who knows. I don't have a plan for my buildings yet.
Parfait la vidéo sort au bon moment, juste quand j'en ai besoin pour ma ville 😀 Perfect the video comes out at the right time, just when I need it for my city 😀
That's a lot of work to recreate the previous existing single base-plate cross-section... Lego must be pleased you're using 500+ pieces to do that! Nice tutorial nonetheless ;) The sidewalk, curbs & sloped access to the cross-walk are very nice.
I really don't understand this complaint. It's LEGO, the entire point of it is that you make things out of small pieces. Usually when LEGO makes huge specialized molds people complain, yet now when they brought roads back in-line with everything else people also complain. Hell, Intersection in the video actually looks like LEGO, instead of some printed kiddie carboard road. Not to mention that this approach allows limitless customization opportunities, unlike the old one when it was always a two lane road with sidewalks. You can even make bridges with this.
@@inspirer4763 I've seen more videos and uses for these plates by now and starting to like them more... however, you could get the same result with a simple 16x16 plate or even smaller and a load of tiles. he only specials needed are road markings and such.
what i'd like to see is a dutch layout with the dark red on the side for bike lanes. just google 'dutch roads with bike lane'. you can use the normal with of the roads and get a 3 or 4 wide bike lane on either side. traffic can cross eachother by using the bikelane. I'm dutch but i think dutch urban planning is way better (especially if you consider the distances to travel in the netherlands) than usa urban planning.
I was not down when I saw the new road plates, but they look great in MOCS so my adversity has gone down towards them. Might have to buy some when I start building again.
A little crazy to build such an intersection. Very parts-intensive and therefore incredibly expensive. Then even a baseplate is used. In the past, you just took a road plate and was done and it looked even better, because less jagged.
Everyone has a preference, but we use this design throughout our city. We prefer detail over ordinary, and incorporate LEGO’s new road plate system as the main grid
@@AFOLTV i found out something you might be interested in, you know how there is a gap between the crosswalk 2x4 tile and the resting snot bricks? You can use two 1x2 panel part# 4865 and tuck it underneath the gap, I used yellow ones so its like a crosswalk speed bump, I can upload a video if it doesnt make sense, but it makes the crosswalk look really good!
since you have a small square at the end, creating a 90 degree angle from the side walks, how do u integrate modular buildings??? U are also using a 48x48 baseplate while modulars only use 32x32. can u pls show this layout and how u integrate it with modular buildings?
@@AFOLTV no I understand but I’m this video, u hv a little bit of base plate left on each quarter. How would u integrate it into a modular city as Modular’s fit on their own base plates. What do u do with the small square left on each intersection??
*@AFOL TV* Great tutorial, I'm a fan of the new street slabs. Really compliments for the design of the intersection, really great! #kauftschienen #Weltrekord
this would work with making a T? probably not on a 48x48 cause my city only has T's one of them is at the edge of the table where it originally had a old road but im upgrading everything to MILS.
Bought the city road plate instructions as well as the 4 way intersection instructions. After completing the intersection I realized the two sides of the street don’t align with the intersection as the intersection was designed right down the center of the base plate. Is there a tutorial as to how to align the 4 way intersection where the connections align with the straight road plates?
Hi Jason - thanks for reaching out! Not sure we fully understand the question, are you asking how to align the intersection with other road sections? This is a single lane (each side) intersection, whereas our straight road section is double lane (both sides) and they are not intended to be used together. This intersection is compatible with the standard LEGO road plates (single lane)
@@AFOLTV thanks for getting back with me! Guess what I was asking was if you had a tutorial or any ideas as to how to make the intersection compatible with the two lane road.
@@AFOLTV instructions would be awesome because I’m beginning to incorporate double lane roads as well as t-intersections. I’d buy the instructions for those for sure!
it looks gorgeous, no lie... but the cost for just creating an intersection or even a simple road is just too damn high ... lego really didn't think this one through. gonna stick with the OG roadplates

The only thing I would suggest is adding yellow 1×4 plates (not tiles) in front of the crosswalk to represent textured plates for the blind.
Wow… coming back to lego after 10 years… it’s so fucking realistic now wow!
Loving these road tutorials. Really showcases just how much more versatile the new system is.
how expensive it is u mean

Where can I buy those shortened road plates? Cannot locate them anywhere. This is a great learning video. Thank you!

Literally had the exact same reaction... wasn't until we started building custom streets with them we started to like them!
I wish I had lego
Great build👌 would love to see an overview with multiple street pieces and buildings added 🤩
Check out our city build videos!!

@@AFOLTV You Welcome 🎬👍👈
How much does this cost?
I see how you did the crosswalk line, awesome technique with the resting snot bricks

If you wanted to incorporate an intersection like this into a city with modular buildings on 32 x 32 baseplates, how might you do that?
i was wondering the same thing haha
@@Frog_Anarchy x3 who the fuck builds on the 15"x15" baseplates the modulars are all 32 deep
Thanks for the tutorial!
No problem!
Love the amazon truck looks great and smooth man
Thank you!!
Super nice design! .. but how much did you spend on just this one crossing?!
Is there a piece list for the traffic lights stand?
Nice! I just got pieces to try and make the one way road and it turned out great! Keep up the good content.
Thank you, appreciate it!
Hi AFOL TV, I was wondering if you can make a rocket league road hog XL video tutorial please. Thanks 🙂
do u have the build for the amazon van
Can this new roads be made widen?
Nice!
Thanks!
Damn, I wish I wasn't poor... :D
It annoys me how Lego sucks at printing white on dark pieces, that cross walk looks more grey than white
Good video but for some stupid reason
My phone is telling me this is an ad
It even had a visit advertiser thing and
A ad 2 of2 on it
Can you add also how to combine it with other roads?
You mean like the old style road baseplates?
the ones you have in your city, and also showed how to build.

what is the part number for the road plats on bricklink I can find them
This is awesome, but I don't see the instructions and part list on your site. Am I missing something?
He shows you how to build it in the video and tells you what parts he uses.
why a blue pin for the traffic light?
Hi great tutorial, wanted to know if you use 32 or 50 stud baseplates in your city?
We use a mix, but this was a 48x48 baseplate!
