Wow! All Solar installation companies should watch this video. The attention to detail is just outstanding! A true craftsman. I reached out to you for service but unfortunately I'm outside your service area. Keep up the good work and look forward to your future videos.
Great job, really think you should travel down south and help me out installing my system to help a Veteran, but I know you don't leave your area. thanks again for your professionalism.
By far the best video tutorial I've seen for solar interrelations on shingle roofs. Thanks so much. Do you do installations in Phoenix Arizona by any chance?
I'm try to work out how to handle rapid shutdown for my roof install. The CA codes I've read call for each panel to be controllable for shutdown. I see the shutdown button, but no panel RSD modules or control wire? Or am I reading the codes incorrectly?
Yes, module level RSD need to be installed. With Tesla we installing MCI-1 or 2 and need to install it every 3-4 panels (depends on Voc), or we can install 2 MCIs per string if racking UL3741 certified.
Love the attention to the small details. Great job. Question. On the plastic box, if mounted slightly inclined, are you drilling a ¼" weep hole to drain out any condensation (water)? Also, how much prep-work is needed to make the drawings? Was this pre-engineered or did you do it on-site? Why not leave a walking gap in between rows (for future service)? Otherwise, you have to take apart multiple panels just to get to the middle ones.
Yes, we need weep holes in the junction box. Drawings typically take about one day per person. and up to 45 days to get a permit from AHJ. If we leave gaps between the rows, it will reduce the number of panels that can fit on the roof, as roof space is usually very limited.
Awesome video! Thank you so much for sharing! Quick question, are rapid shutdown modules not needed at each panel because all the wiring is on the outside of the house?
With Tesla we are using MCI-2 and don't need to install under each panel. With non-tesla installs (Sol-Ark, EG4, Luxpower, etc) we will need to install RSD under each panel.
Tesla using MCI-2, is serving as RSD (not optimizer). Need to install one per 3 solar panels. Or if rails have UL3741 certification, then we can install 2 MCIs for one string (at the beginning and at the end of string).
@@SolarEngineering thanks appreciate the feedback. If have an AC setup with enphase micro inverters, is that compatible with powerwall 3 (which as hybrid can handle AC input as well)?
Awsome video as usual. Can you tell me what's the code says on how far the panesl needs to be all side of roof line especially where the front gutters are installed. Thks
When you use the enphase micro inverters, do the solar panels still power the house if there is a utility outage? Seems like I read that the micro inverters automatically shut down the solar system during utility outages.

Man now this is like all your installations very very clean 🙌🙌🙌🙌⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️🔋🔋🔋🔋🔋

@@SolarEngineering someone should develop this for the other inverters as well..
100%
Awesome video. So Tesla doesn’t use its own proprietary DC optimizer? Just running simple strings to junction box?
Yep

To AC couple existing system with Tesla PW3 you'll need to install Tesla Gateway.
Good explanation but what is the distance from rail to rail ?
~1/4 of the panel height from each side

here is the code for California www.calbo.org/sites/main/files/file-attachments/brooks-fire-guidelines-webinar-nov2010.pdf

correct, Enphase micros without battery and IQ Controller will shutdown, otherwise, it can feed back to the grid in the event of a power outage.
What's the hand truck with the lift and drill?
Tesla dolly
