(I just finished school and saved up some money cause i got hired straight from internship and held back on getting high end mainstream technologies for all my life! I use my phone. Galaxy note 8 is great. Although, the S-pen isn't for everyone. It is tiny. I've gotten used to it. But, if you are used to a standard sized stylus it will cause some serious cramps! Samsung uses wacom technology in their s pen as well. Unfortunately, as you have stated in earlier videos android doesn't have any great apps for using a tablet/phone as an alternative to the cintiq. Fingers crossed for the future. Great video as always!

      As a professional I respectfully don't agree.
      I did try Huion extensively, and it doesn't match Wacom précision , confort, quality ( whatever screen or stylus) in any way.
      It has better bang for bucks for sure.
      But no, it doesn't reach the incredible quality of Wacom, this is simply false.

    I'm rediscovering my love of drawing with an iPad pro 9.7 that I got at 30% off RRP (Was to be a store demo model combined with the fwct they don't sell them any more) and the Apple Pencil. Can't believe how damn good it is. I have a surface pro 3 (that I got second hand for over half price!!) As well but the drawing experience is more "I'm interacting with a peice of sophisticated technology" feel while the iPad pro and pencil is "I'm just naturally drawing on a canvas" feel. 1:20 well i take drawing lesson for near 1 year and one of the techniques we learned was that. Not looking at paper when drawing. Teacher told us if you used to stare at your paper while drawing you will start to draw from memory/what you remember so we learned to stare at what we referencing for drawing. For example one of the exercise was teacher told us to close our eyes and imagine a bottle and draw it blindly :D

    Like, does anybody sell their graphics created on iPad 2018 with Procreate? - and I know that is (like you said many times) for sketching, but then you need at least some MacBook plus Wacom tablet with Affinity Designer, right?
    Something to start and be able to work on if business go well and not to loose like few thousand if it fails. - there always will be risk but you know it would be nice if I can have kinda soft landing if job market doesn't go well with me.
    Thanks for all your work!

    Thank you for this video! Ive been drawing since forever but my family has never been able to afford a computer. Now we've saved up enough and my mom wants to get something I can draw with so that I can share my art and stuff. But I know nothing about what software is best, or what computers are best for drawing. Anyways, this was very helpful, thanks again~

I opted for a matte which is coming in the post which apparently isn't too grainy to affect the screen quality. I really want a very nice PORTABLE All-In-One drawing tablet like the iPad Pro, but with the versatility and wide variety of Windows like the Surface Pro. I would love the iPad, but I don't want to switch to Apple products. I'd also like the Surface, but the wobble and the fact that the pen isn't included making it a lot more expensive is a setback (for me).
    Hopefully a tablet with the smooth drawing experience of the iPad Pro tablet that uses Windows will arrive soon. Just sucks I have to wait >.

    Hey Brad! Helpful video, I am new to this type of digital art, I would like to be able to take a portrait photo and "draw" over top of it to turn into a sort-of "pop-art" or cartoon, then deleting the original photo layer to be left with the drawn art. I hope this makes sense. Is this something the Wacom draw can achieve or should I look into another tool?

    NO! Do not check out PS or Affinity for drawing. These apps were created for editing high resolution photos. The industry has gotten used to them and they've become so engrained an hacked-in because there was nothing else when digital art got started. Please, for the love of digital art, seek out apps that were actually created with digital illustration artist in mind. Clip Studio Paint, Sketchbook pro, Medibang, Paintstormstudio, sketcable, art rage, etc....

      I assume this is from person who doesn't know what he is talking about. Photoshop has more tools for drawing than any other drawing program, including tools for creating animation. But however i do not claim that it is the best program for digital drawing on the get go since learning curve is huge. It took from me to learn photoshop 4 years, i still forget to utilize all its tools when i draw from time to time. Lazy nezumi pro was requirement for line smoothing up till latest update, newest version of photoshop now includes line smooth tool. So i guess photoshop finally aknownledge that there are a lot of artist using their software and adding line smooth now removes requirement of 3rd party software for drawing on photoshop. But at the same time i agree that some drawing software have superior interface because they make it easy for any artist to pick them up and not need to learn each little thing of "how do i do this" etc. Which can be really frustrating because finding decent tutorials for photoshop is a nightmare!

      Bruce Willis You would assume wrong, I’ve used photoshop since 2.0. I stopped using it because other programs, designed for illustrations, became available, PS is subscription now and this is the most important, I stopped making excuses for a program that was designed for photography, hence the name "PHOTOshop". I also don’t need a lecture on what they’ve done to it. Adobe isn’t listening, they have competitors now an they need you all, to keep paying the subscription, including new artist. There are entire industries built on their products, imagine if entire companies realized they could save a crap ton of money by switching to CSP? An entire generation is turning towards MediBang for art, an other alternatives.

    • @rkneegordon6316
      @rkneegordon6316 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Darren Albertson all the beautiful art in the world doesn’t change the facts photoshop is a photography program, that we used, and have gotten used to using for better part of two decades. The point remains Brad is sharing his thoughts, which is the point of this video, wouldn’t you want someone to tell you there is a way to do digital art with actual illustration program that you don’t have to subscribe to? This is symptom of trend, just people use it for art doesn’t mean it’s the tool for it. I hated leaving PS it was hard transition to move away from it, I’d gotten used to using for decades that the thought of using something else was unthinkable. Now like their other alternatives on the market, just alternatives to Wacom. Brad has no problem recommending these, and you should have no problem understanding the history an foundation of PHOTOshop.

    • @Lilyium
      @Lilyium 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The reason why Brad mentioned that Photoshop is a high end app is because it's a premium product...and he did mention the other apps like sketchbook Pro, medibang etc that are free and easily accessible for beginners.

    For the most part I’m a noob at digital drawing. I had a calcomp digital drawing board last century and I used Corel draw 4 for photos and drawing with it. Now 40 years later, I’ve got an itch to work on a project again. I have an 9” iPad Pro with pen. I have a photo I wish to use to draw on or use as a background template. My query is, which beginner software app will allow me, a novice, to import and and have some special affects to add on if needed? Affordable too, because I only do this sort of thing when I find a muse to inspire me. Thanks for you help. Direct me to the correct video you have that will solve my needs.
