I instantly went to aa1Auto and purchased these replacements for $79.98! It’s 5 days later and they’re already replaced! Question: Do you guys have an App or working on getting one?
These videos allowed me to attempt these repairs easily (first time never that easy). I'm watching this video after replacing strut, shocks and tie rod ends on my Camaro. Now my wife has asked me to replace hers on her Altima! I will look like I came out of a coal mine again!!!!!! Her car won't be so clean as this one in the video since she drives it year round in ice and snow and salt!!
Dealership told me my rear shocks needed replacement , I declined service and kept driving for a year, I decided to do the shocks myself today and boy did it make a difference… one of the old shocks didn’t even come up once pushed down… it fixed my bumpy ride and nose diving when braking. Thank you this how to do video is great… I bought KYB shocks and they work great to anyone who is planning to do this it’s easy to do like the video but it’ll take some time took me about 4 hours to do everything but I also flushed my rear brake calipers since it was convenient enough… the tools you will need for the shock replacement would be a torque wrench , 21mm socket for tires, 18mm socket for the large pin that holds the shock to the control arm, 13mm socket for the two top bolts holding the shock, 10 inch extension for torque wrench, breaker bar to break the nuts, jack stand, car jack, locking pliers, 16mm wrench for the original nut on the shock, 14mm wrench for the nut on the KYB shocks, KYB shocks come with all the mounts. It was fairly easy the only thing that took a little bit of time was getting the 18mm bolt out a rip is to use penetrating oil and also try to lift up the control arm to alleviate pressure on the bolt so it can loosen more easily. Follow the torques in the video and you’ll be good to go!
Also please note the big washer in the video was put upside down! It’s suppose to concave up! Just follow what the washer looks like from when you disassemble it!

I do wonder why you do not try to clean up some of the components that are being re-used. For instance, I would have taken a wire wheel to the shock mount and applied a couple coats of rust preventative paint to prevent further corrosion.
This guy does ok but I noticed as well as 2 others noticed he put washer backwards. He's working in a shop. Majority of guys don't have a shop or these tools. Type in 2013-2017 Altima rear shock if you have car in between these years. He does it at home in his driveway with tools most guys have and explains everything nice and slow. Did it my first time like he shows work out great.
@1AAuto is it okay to reuse the hardware from the old shock on the new shock and How could I tell if the hardware on the old shock is in good shape to reuse?
I noticed that you replaced the brakes and the hub as well, right? The same was done for the front in another video. Do these brakes work better than the stock ones? They look more sportier. P/S: Good job! Perfectly elucidated guide

Be aware that the bottom bolt that holds the shock in place might end up breaking off!! Start asking dealerships for that before you even start the job!!
Sonny Cho lmfao, me too and that’s for the front. They quoted me a cheaper price for the back. I mean I get the labor is intense but the mechanics labor isn’t so intense with the machine having the car lifted up to make a job easier. But I’d rather break my back to save me two average pay checks 😂
My Pep Boys tried to charge me $488 for parts and labor in my 2010 Altima. My struts at the auto parts store costs me $120 for my rear struts. About a 1 hour job if you trust someone to assist you.
Very good video but the parts from 1A parts look like they made from plastic work fine 3 days after you need buy new shock quality on this shocks are terrible
That last washer did go on backwards when assembling. You can go back when the factory unit was being taken apart to verify. Not sure if would even matter.

Old school torque specs are Two clicks in the elbow. ;D
Shock Nuts are nylon self locking nuts.

I use a color coded torque extension with my air gun, it gets it close to the torque and then I finish with a torque wrench.

Replace shocks then get an alignment
Changing just shocks don't mess with the alignment. Now if you need alignment, do the shocks first
How much warranty do they come with?
On my 2019 Altima, you are not able to get a wrench on the top nut. Any idea on how to loosen the top nut on 2019+ Altimas? Please help.

when i do the compression to circulate the gas on the brand new shocks, they come up at different speeds after multiple compressions. Is this bad?

Yeah, but their shocks have a lifetime warranty. I wonder how that works if/when a failure occurs.
In NH its a little tug on the shock bolt and... noooooo!!! the bushing is obliterated because its fused to the bolt. Road salt strikes again.
