This was a great explanation of this verse. So comforting knowing that I can hang all of my burdens on Jesus as my peg instead of trying to hold them up by myself, or trying to continuously hang them on my friends. That will wear out a friendship quickly! Bringing them to Jesus, the One who can actually do something about my burdens makes all the difference. And pointing my friends to Jesus through praying with them, helping them place their burdens on His peg, makes for deeper friendships. Thank you, Pastor David!! (My 6th grader was next to me eating breakfast while I was listening to this and he said,”Wow, that really makes sense!” He really liked the explanation, too)
What an object lesson! I will not look at another peg the same way again. Thank you, Pastor David for the insight. It also helps me really see beneath the ordinary of Scripture to see Jesus!
Another good, good word for these challenging days. Your message painted a very vivid picture for all to see. God bless you Pastor for teaching and all the folks who share their thoughts. I keep getting so blessed by this ministry. Praise the Lord for His Word and His precious promises. ✝️ 🕊 🕯
Don't you just love how David brings us back to the ancient homes, perhaps w dust floors, on how the home was laid out, and how things were arranged? It makes the telling of the story richer, we can put ourselves right there, among the pegs, the order, the vessels, and utensils - and so it is in God's house. He holds onto us, and He is sure, anything else well you know what happens when the holding foundation gives way, so does the base, and both become lost. All the more reason for people to put their faith in the surety and security of Christ.
I do like to imagine how people lived long ago. It helps me to be thankful for the creature comforts we possess in abundance. The analogy of the peg is just one more ways people can relate to Jesus. I certainly want to hang onto Jesus and His peg.
Those whose desire is to serve God are found sure, for it is He that holds them. God makes that path to be established. Those that seek their own trail are often lost in the woods and need a guide to get back on the path.
Because Pastor David the vessel is attached to the stronghold peg - Christ our Lord - He can share with us, the wisdom he himself has learned at the Master's feet. So wonderfully shared even a 6th grader gets it. Would to God I would have learned and valued more the Scriptures at that age. Oh sure the nuns and priests at Catholic school then put the fear of God into most kids who knew hell (and school at times) were very real places, but to dig and excavate and relate the word of God as David does for us, well that was not done well in the 1960s except say for Donald Grey Barnhouse or his successors, and few knew of them then. Radio was around it just didn't travel all that far for most.
This made me think of a painting I did recently called, “Abide.” It shows a woman leaning against the cross that’s standing upon a huge rock in the ocean. The wave are crashing around the rock she’s standing on. As long as we abide in Jesus and the cross (our peg), He will keep us safe and secure in him. Psalms 27:5 is the verse for the painting.
Always excellent word thanks David
