  • I don't think in our society we grow up learning how to listen and present to somebody's problems if we can't fix them. - Brianna, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
We're excited to release another Unfixed episode with all those familiar faces you've been following for the past 20 months. Many of them chimed in to discuss how chronic illness and disability affected their relationships, sometimes for the better, sometimes...not so much. It's natural to want to fix someone, make them feel better. But because of the nature of chronic illness, friends and family members are often at a loss for words as weeks turn to months turn to years.
We all know Hallmark cards and "get well soon" just don't cut it so our subjects also share a few tips on what you CAN do or say. It's not difficult! Simple acts of kindness, genuine curiosity, deep listening, and advocating for your loved one not only help us feel visible and valued but is pretty much guaranteed to make your heart feel good too. Watch our newest episode below and try one of their tips today!
    ABOUT:
On February 1, 2020, twenty people living with chronic conditions began a 24-month journey together. They all received an email with a prompt, a question or an idea to help them explore a topic around living Unfixed. Then they set up a tripod and recorded their response with their smartphones. Some are living with the aftermath of a cerebral stroke, others are struggling with autoimmune disease or daily, debilitating migraines. These honest, unpolished moments are at the heart of the unfixed state - the highs, the lows and everything in between.
On the first of each month, they will receive a new prompt. Subscribe to our channel to stay up-to-date on the monthly community videos premiering exclusively here on TH-cam!

Four years into mal de debarquement syndrome. There are many challenges. I feel lucky to have a wonderful husband who has been with me for three decades, a great relationship with my adult daughter, a real circle of friends who are not fake, and I have managed to keep my career. Still, I wish it gone.
