Honestly, as someone who uses ISO only, there are other vendors (like Mode) who don't do hotswap ISO anymore as they're not getting sold in high enough numbers. So having multi-layout hotswap PCBs gives ISO users a lot more options while keeping costs lower for manufacturers.
Great review! However, i think it would be very beneficial to your audience if you also included a non pe foam sound test or no foam sound test for those who like the clack. Or at least your favorite build without pe foam. Cheers!
Hey man, great review and in depth analysis of your thoughts and experience. One suggestion I have is lowering the background music you had playing while you were talking. At times the music felt louder than your voice. Thanks!
Your comments at 3:42 got me! Enjoyed the review! I agree with the comments on doing a sound test without the foam. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the board!
The fact that I literally bought the zoom65 v2 because I didn't think they would make a 75% with 2.4ghx/RGB makes me furious. Here I go again spending more money 😢
totally agree although dye sub PBT will always have a special place in my heart... a cheapy BoW set I picked up from Prevail before they went under sounds the BEST to my ears on foamy boards!
Man shipping in this hobby really does feel brutal! I feel like USPS rates must have gone up recently, like I used to get a lot of small items shipped to me (on the west coast) for ~$5, but now I’m almost shocked if it’s under $10, even for just some bags of springs or switches! Appreciate your review of the board, I continue to be impressed at what you can get for your money now vs. even just two years ago!
as a follow up, for folks that are willing to wait, there’s a lot of free shipping available for items from ali express (including a lot lot of the more mainstream switches or components like plates and such)
Great video, surprised you like this as much as you did. It does seem like a great entry board for beginners though. How did you like the Morandi switches? Theremingoat gave them pretty high scores
I’ve got a full review in the works but I was very pleasantly surprised by them!!! Tbh I put Mx browns in the board and it sounded about as bad as you’d expect, so part of the board sounding as nice as it does is due to the switches!
i feel like the term entry level gets tossed around way too much in this hobby...seems like everything under $250 is classed as entry but in that case what would those boards around $100 be?
To be fair, I think entry level floats around $250 for a full build only because you couldn’t really find a custom mechanical keyboard for less than that until very recently. The venerable tofu 60 which was many peoples introduction to customs used to cost around that much for a full build, but you’re right in that there are much higher quality boards around the $100 price point now!
So smooth the way you speak on features and pros and cons. I feel reassured about my decisions on getting it or not lol If only the GB were longer, more forgiving, and smoother. Sigh.
"just wait until you order a board from swagkeys" hahaha.. haha... ahhh... Thinking back to my Shelby, shipping definitely wasn't great. But man this really is a great board. My friend is interested in trying out his first custom keyboard, so this is definitely at the top of my recommendation list.
Finally got mine, all pvd with internal weight. Full weight is 6.8lbs, absolutely ridiculous 😂, I love it though! Our original ones never got out of customs, they just reordered 😬
What a bang for buck honestly! I have my "endgames" already - TOMO, Iron165 V2, Class65 V2, Sonnet, Mammoth75, Rama Thermal+, Paragon, QK75 =X (myth? lol I told my friend I'd stop) but this deal seems to good to pass up.
Thanks for the detailed review ! Just got back into the hobby ! I’m torn between getting the aluminium or the fr4 plate.. thinking to pair it with my boba u4T … or just get the alu plate to open up mod options for linear switches ?
Does somebody know a tactile switch, that comes close to the WS Morandi switches? I ordered them for my Zoom75 and received them yesterday. They sound so good and deep, feel very smooth and offer great RGB support. I‘d love to have those features in a tactile switch, because I prefer tactiles for my daily work.
Hmm… I’d say you should try out the turbulence switches from zenclack but they don’t have the RGB light pipe and they are out of stock currently. If sound is most important they were very nice and low pitched due to the nylon housing. If RGB is important then I’d say azure dragons? Very smooth and look nice. Sound isn’t quite as refined in my opinion though, the morandi s are just a very very nice switch
Thanks for the detailed review, lots of questions answered, though I am a little concerned about the coating/finish of the top case, is it still using glittery/sparkly coating for this black EE version, similar to the zoom65?
I've recently just got my NuPhy Halo 75, it feels so great, but this one sounds also very enticing, do you have any ideas about the comparison between these two?
Help please.. Important question for me man.. I just got interested with kb hobby 2wks ago, after researching for a premium kb, I stumbled upon the zoom75 SE white, but it’s already sold out in usa vendors by the time I discovered it. I have an option to get a z75 se white that i want with pcv gold for $312 which is pricier from the $274 srp preorder price from local vendors. On top of that, I will need to pay $60 shipping. The total will cost me $435 for the $312 for zoom75 se, lcd $27, cf plate $31, shipping $60 My question is, is it worth it for me to pay almost $90 price increase? I feel like i should start looking at other keyboards at 300-400usd price range for this. If so, can you please suggest 300-400usd keyboards similar to the zoom75? Hope you can help me out. Thank you!
Hi! Welcome to the hobby. I think paying more than retail for a board like the zoom75 is not worth it. There are several used boards that you could pick up in that price range, unless you really like the LCD of the zoom. I'd check out the mechmarket discord to see if you can find a board you like, there are many many many boards for sale these days :P
@@MakerMods thanks for the response. I actually went ahead and ordered it. I recalculated and it seems like the australian shop I was checking out from, already included the taxes with their listing price, unlike here in america where taxes are calculated at check out. The price difference from ordering from a local vendor vs from australian vendor turned out to be just $40 because of shipping fees, and I think it’s not too bad given I’m ordering this late after the groupbuy ended and with all the local vendors having no stock here in the usa. I also just realized I was selecting the much more expensive options(special edition, ss pvd backplate, external weight, extra plates, and other add ons) that stack up the total price real fast to 300-400usd. All in all, I think I did the right thing and I’ll get what I’m after with all the add ons I like that’s hard to find aside from the keyboard itself at this point in time. I just hope I won’t regret going for it as my first premium kb. Wish me luck 🙏🏻
I was definitely debating this or the JRIS75 and went with the Jris since it has the "quick release" case mechanism and the non exploded layout that I want with the option of the F13/Delete key
Shipping rates from Geon is ridiculously high since they only offer DHL Express option. This is okay for expensive keebs but for smaller stuff like switches, it's stupid.
Zoom 75 shipping was $11
For me 65~ kekw
$108 RIP
For those wondering: Shipping to switzerland: 50$
(with lcd module added: 60$.
I assume it's because the added weight)
For those wondering, $98 shipping to New Zealand 💀💀@@LaponTV
$32 for me 😢

@@MakerMods that would be great
"you get compatibility for every layout"
*cries in ortho*
great vid as always, first thought was jelly epoch too when i heard that sound
HAHA if you aren’t picky with the legends, there’s definitely ortho support :P
ahh i want this so much. This is gonna be my first custom! I hope I can get a milky white one..

You deserve at least 100k subs my guy, great stuff
Maybe one day!

This is going to be my first custom keyboard.
May I ask where you got that Hollow Knight keycap pls?

Hey man love the video! Would you recommend this over the QK75? (very new to the whole custom keyboard industry)
I haven’t tried the qk75 myself, but having tried the qk65 I’d say you can’t go wrong with either so I’d pick based on your preferred aesthetic!
Where did you get the Hollow knight keycap from? Looks absolutely amazing!
it's from RNcables!

in terms of sound and feel, how does this compare to the qk75?
youtuber keybored has a direct comparison between the two
I missed this, but which PCB was included in your build here? With or without flex cuts?
it starts in 2 days lol you didnt miss it

My PCB had no flex cuts!

enkeycaps eggi!
can i have the link to the artisan keycap?

Yeah I think based on what I know of the QK, it might be a similar sound signature but I really love how the zoom sounds/looks!
is this also good for gaming?
Where can I get a cable like that?
Mine is from space cables! I think they're called "Lindy" cables?
That sounds delicious!

No PE!
How are the legends on the wuque set, would you say it’s on par or at least close to gmk? Did you like morandi switches?
