I've always felt that the real strength of the Beatles wasn't their hit songs, it was their album cuts. For any other band, She Said would have been released as a single'; it's that strong. For the Beatles, it was just another album cut - which none of them ever played again. It is one of the best songs on the album. Thanks for the How To.

The singles they released as promotion for the album's are incredibly cool, there will never be another band that's as creative as those four guys from Liverpool.

The 3/4 to 4/4 shift in this song is one of my favorite musical moments. I pop every time I hear it, even after 50-odd years!

One of the gems on the album . It just stands out and proves that going back to their old fab four formula works. Its a shame they never performed it live

Great tutorial and video. As Anne said, I was the same age in 66, but I was flown out to LA , for the summer, as a session player for Capitol.

You say it's a simple song to play, but it really is a complexly composed song like the majority of their work. It has amazing chord coordination between John & George, not to mention the usual first class harmony's. In my opinion, the Beatles professionalism, musicianship, and attention to detail within their recorded songs, is second to none. Nice job with the lesson!👍🏻

As I learnt this song a while back, the funny thing is you don't really notice the 3/4 change until it's pointed out, bizarre? Hey, I'm really liking the earthy tones of your casino brother.

The Old Super Beatle Vox which was ALL solid state sounded like the ul730 to, but could also get quite loud if needed. I owned and used one from about 1975 to 1981, I sold it because it was so large an amplifier. Never Gigged it though. It had a built in Fuzz tone, which was similar to that full on Gain that the Mr. Robert gets. It also had a channel called MRB, which was Mid range Boost, which would have been like the Mr. robert pedal with the mid cranked. the did an excellent job with that pedal, but I think if one really boosts the midrange and adds compression on an amp modeller, most likely using a AC30 Amp Range you could emulate the UL730.

    • @12footchain

That MRB knob was used at end of back in the ussr flipping from position to position as the jet plane sound came in

Very nice job. I worked She Said out a few times in my day. I never recorded it. I may give it a try.
Are u in/at a guitar store? Lot of u vidcasters with these Beatles lessons have all the guitars laying around right there lol. Even the proper amps.
    Maybe a studio?
It really is a good job. I like that "2+2=5, right?" Exactly, I know exactly what u mean about that little snippet on what note Harrison lands on. Couldn't quite get it with one guitar.

And Paul was on the track after all but left before vocals. It's such a departure as an album over what had come before yet George never really distinguished between Revolver sessions and Rubber Soul sessions.

Thanks for going to this level of detail to nail these. I got the guitar and the pedal and going thru a Fender Princeton, BUT... Do you think they were still using flatwound strings on Revolver? Just wonder if it's worth changing over...

Oh man, I have no idea. Not sure it would make all that much difference sonically, would it? I mean I know they are different, but if you're listening through super good headphones, cam you really tell that much difference?

  • @ksharpe10
    @ksharpe10 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for doing these. I like all the remixes except for the to strong bass on Taxman, at least on the computer, prefer the mono release on taxman. but you can hear stuff on them that was not real evident before. Nice not to have only Vocal panned to one side, instruments to the other, but that was how old stereo was with 4 track artists at least the ones recording out of Abbey road.

    • @12footchain

not sure it was actually take 15 which was the final backing track. I hear subtle differences in the guitars from the final. more dialogue on that here www.beatlesebooks.com/she-said-she-said

The half bend is CRUCIAL Thx for insisting on that. It drives me crazy when bands do a full bend and ruin the pathos of the mood.

As always a great lesson. Have to say I think the remix of this song is inferior to the original. The guitars a more prominent and biting on the original.

the separation in the new mies is what makes them bad mixing. It's fun for Beatles nerds (self included) but it ultimately waters down the effect of the music when radio and streaming essentially replaces the (good) original mixes with these horror shows.

YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG! YOU'VE MADE IT MUCH HARDER THAN IT IS. THE RIFF IS EASIER TO PLAY WITH MINIMUM OF FINGERS, MEANING NO PINKY INVOLVED! OPEN STRINGS IS THE KEY AND THE FIRST NOTE OF THE RIFF IS SLIGHTLY BENT.
