- Have to admit this was by far my favorite part of a single player game. Really enjoyed the music by Joel Nielson. Really resonates well for what it was trying to portray for your final climb before the last boss.
Have to admit it does feel good to get back into content creation. Just gonna find what I enjoy most in games and post em up. Whatever it is, hope ya enjoy!

I agree that the Interloper can get really tedious at times, but this part, even after an hour of all that factory platforming is something truly special.

The xen chapter is the tedious one that i wish that they removed some of the part there. I enjoyed the whole interloper chapter

Oh my god, the part where they pull the elevator back down and shatter the windows around you, destroying their own creation just to have one last chance to stop you, REALLY gives you the feeling that whatever you're about to face, it will decide the fate of both earth and the border world.

And i LOVE how killing the Nihilanth was the bad ending it’s the reason the combine found earth and the reason everything in half life 2 happened. If only humanity could’ve found a way to make peace with the Nihilanth we could’ve lived in a better world than the combine

Not gonna lie, Black Mesa's Ascension is probably top 3 best moments from the whole Half-Life saga

This and the gonarch ost are the on top , at least for me💪

@@dkkanofkash8798 well, HL games are traditionaly made of series of memorable moments - locations, enemies. Especially the HL1. Opposing force is also super cool in that regard. I wish it got remake too.
I bet those controllers really regret putting all those blue and green crystals in their elevator now

The music after 4:30 was especially good on the elevator. It was this stage that I realized I was playing one of the best games I've ever played.
today when i finished the game, when i was at 2:25 when the music started i knew this was going to be a treat
This part was truly amazing on hard mode. My keyboard was drenched in sweat after this and I felt like I have just ascended into heaven.

This part was the climax of Black Mesa. Its the part that shows the epitome of how much of a badass Gordon Freeman really was back there to justify why everyone treats him as a living legend in Half Life 2. Even with all the lag I got in that part, it was still one of my best modern gaming moments. Nihilanth battle was awesome as well, but lacked the thrilling soundtrack (though I concur with them not adding a pumped soundtrack on his battle)
They removed the shooting portal attack but honestly i dont mind. I hate getting caught by one of those in the original game. I just wish that they added alien controllers and vortigaunts in the fight as well like in the original
This elevator fight was awesome, you know you are alone in a world and everything is trying to kill you but you are not going to give up and that song gives you a feeling like ''i can do this because everyone is believing me...''

This is honestly one of the most memorable parts of any Half Life game in the franchise for me. This is how you do an overpowered player section.

@@holycheburek6298 the first few times i kept dying until i noticed that you culd just stand on the health and suit regenerator the whole time
I think it's because of the high stress involved the the aim required. Lots of stuff going on, and jumps to use. If they're not used to the source engine, they might die a few times long jumping!

2:35 onwards: my favorite part. The bgm, adrenaline and action
The controllers picking up explosive barrels to throw at you makes a cool sound effect. IDK if it's a distorted laugh or what.
IMO the conveyor battle and Nihilanth are more difficult. For me the hardest part of the elevator is 2:34 where there are both controllers and alien grunts.
I like how Freeman went invincible mode there
I love how you pretty much have to use the Gluon Gun during this section, after getting it in Lambda Core and barely being able to use it because it'd chew through its own already rare ammo in seconds. And then you get to the final stretch of the game, and suddenly it has infinite ammo.
Probably one of the best music tracks in this game.
If you did not want to die you should not have given me UNLIMITED AMMUNITION

This part is my favorite, I don't have the words for it but it made me appreciate HL more.
Fun fact:did you know actually that the alien controllers are a species of vortigaunt and not nihilanth
Because the nihilanth is well has two eyes

That means that they could be related because if they have same traits almost

First mistake: making it a VR-only game.

Interloper is such a pain. So ominous and gigantic but absurd and empty at the same time. Horror vacui. This is the only entertaining part. Repeating Interloper for the achievements gives me the shivers
New achievement - complete the elevator without saves.
Honestly this battle was more fun than Nihilanth. Second only to Gonarch IMHO.
Will admit, Nihilanth fight was kinda a let down compared to this fight and Gonarch.

16GB of 2666MHz HyperX DDR3 x2
GTX 1080ti Asus STRIX OC'd to 2000MHz
Now I have different specs. Upgraded to
AMD Ryzen 3700X OC @ 4.3 GHz
16 GB Corsair Vengence RGB 3600MHz DDR4
Same Gpu as before, the 1080ti
So I guess back then, it was hellishly unoptimized. Now in this part, it does do a lot better on the latest updates. Or it's because of my upgrades lol. At the time of recording, I was still running a pre-release early access build, so it was still a little rough.

Late reply, but this is an older version of the game. A lot of things changed to help the player feel a little less claustrophobic on the elevator - including the removal of those pillars.
How the hell do you not have lag?
same question in my mind. hope the guy responds. I've seen other walkthrough youtubers without lag here. my rig can run some Unreal 4 games on Ultra without lag.
It was laggy during the beta but ran much better once it went final.
My 1060 at the time could run it easily maxed out 90+fps lol.
