What I try to do is have a impeller powered by the engine to pump the coolant through a radiator. The RPS of an engine directly affect the heating and fuel consumption, as well, so I try to have the engine run at a low RPS but gear it up. I also know that you actually shouldn't max out the clutch. I've found that 0.70-0.80 is the best, depending on application, because what happens is the engine runs at a higher RPS (so you can then gear it down to apply more load), and because it runs at a higher RPS, the propellers then run at a higher RPS. Maxing the clutch will put too much load on the engine outright. TL;DR- You don't actually want the engines revving high, because that causes more heating.
Seems need a small, quick, cheap car to transport people from the dock to the hospital. Was disappointed you ended Season 4, but am liking the new season so far. Would love to see the tanker you started working on get finished and used this season.
Loved the video @ProfNCognito! Can't wait for the next video man! I don't mean to make things a bit worse since your game crashed at the end, but that Island you were seeing at night might've been either the Factory Island where you built the HIPPO or the Refinery Island which would've been very convenient for you since you now need to grab some more fuel LMAO! Already Looking forward to Season 6 with Add-ons, hopefully you can tie down your boats to the Docks as well!
I like your videos, classic career is fun to watch. Some things I would like to see: A temperature -dial would be easy to install. Every cylinder offers the engine -temp in channel 3 (if I remember correctly) of the composite -data. A (very) simple MC would do the trick! And I would love to see how much fuel your boat is using. Maybe grab a fuel-usage-MC of the workshop, or build a simple one yourself?
The hospital ship will stop for you, get in front of it. It wants to keep its distance though, so they'll back off about 50m from your boat regardless. You'll have to swim.
Why do you always extinguish by hand? Can you not make a water monitor to spray water like a real firefighting boat? I don't own the game, but it just feels as if the portable extinguishers aren't supposed to be the be-all. Is pumping water out a spigot a thing?
I misremembered the stopping of the hospital ship -- that is a mod from your friend who makes the microcontroller, Zizo. Guess I am so used to using it I mixed it up, sorry about that. I use a lot of his stuff for QoL things. Enjoying the series, though.
@@ProfNCognito It ought to be part of the game, for certain. Like many an add-on found on the workshop. QoL things and details added to the world. Luckily we have Zizo and others to do this when the devs won't (like how long it took for tie-off points, oh boy).
Ai vehicles stop working for a few seconds every so often. Watch other boats and you’ll see the engines shut off and come back on. I’ve even found a few floating helicopters and crashed planes
@@qazxsw21000 True, but this is a workshop mod by Zizo, Better Hospital Ship, that will make it wait for you once you are within range (which you can customise). But yes, AI are littering helicopters everywhere during long games.
A tip from me is that the engines need only fresh water and if the engines take sea water they will “scale” as in braking down would suggest that you have a radiator with a small fluid tank set to fresh water
Hey man ! Just looking to find out if we're recording this weekend. Let me know here or on Discord. I'm gonna be at work tomorrow from 10:00 to 13:00 but then i'm off till tuesday so i got time to record a Duo dino or some Stormworks.🙂
Modular engine colling is broken af. I have a smaller engine with 4 3×3 electric radiators and 2 2×2 fluid fluid heat exchangers. Yet if i put any load on the running engine it will still overheat. At the moment im thinking about 2 posible causes. 1. Not enough flow rate - though i have 9l/s. 2. Coolant manifolds are shit, meaning that even with proper flow rate you need a lot.
You want 30-60 L/s flow rate. One coolant manifold and one or two pumps per cooling device. If two pumps, one on either side of the coolant manifold. I don't have any problems cooling modulars, but I keep them between 5-15 RPS.
You were actually first lol wow you commented 22 mins ago and the other two guys were still at 21 minutes... I say here for like 40 seconds refreshing the comments 😂

Have to research impeller pumps first
love the new series keep it up👍
Will do!
yippee!@@ProfNCognito made a new series! 😃

I would love to finish the tanker this season. It's gonna move so much stuff.
Have to research wheels first

I think tracked vehicles are good due to their superior grip

I can but I haven't researched pumps yet.

At 1.0 release scaling was removed and you can use sea water for cooling and also you don't need a small tank in your cooling loop with radiators
Hello i like you gameplay you can use composite signal from engine on channel 3 for temp sensor
Thanks

That's a pair of big engines

Are you going to be making a bigger ship?
Yes for sure.
"We're going to need a bigger boat."
Well now I can't wait for season 6 with the add-ons 🤣
At least 2 of yours. Lol.
how do u add more fuel to your tanks without stealing it from other islands
Buy it from refinery.
I sincerely hope you don't use add-ons for next season, I'll have to sit out the whole season if so. :)
Wait... Colour coded lights on the buttons? How in the...? I'm assuming workshop mod.
Edit: nevermind. Google answered.

It makes no sense to have navigation if you can see yourself in the map and place waypoints
You complain about the weather a lot in a game that's marketed as being about bad-weather rescue. lol.
I think you shud but a med. bed on your boat
I will add one.
@@ProfNCognito If I'm remembering correctly, the normal bed's revive and heal NPC's exactly like the Medical beds, maybe worth a try to find out.
Old bug. Doesn't work anymore unfortunately.
Trolling hospital ship. funny as. Broken and annoying and descriptive of the entire dev group, but hilarious.
