Two months ago I have been in Europe, and Bratislava was my favorite city, ahead of cities like Berlin, Vienna and Budapest. Love the food, the vibe, the history and the people. I love this city so much!!! Dakujen :D
4:42 Yes, there were also historic trolleybuses and trams. The occasion was the Bratislava city days during the weekend 20th and 21st April 2024. There were more than 350 events in the city, including free guided city tours, workshops, river cruises, presentations, exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, markets, etc.
Love your capital city. I've been to Bratislava once many many years ago. But i still have very fond memories of the place and hope to visit it once again in the future. Cheers from an expat living in Malaysia now.
I don’t know how long ago you went but this city is evolving very rapidly, so it changed a lot for sure ☺️ Downtown was not there a few years ago and the area was much different for instance! Cheers 🙂
@@palmacate to be exact, it was back in 1990, perhaps you were not even born then yet :). It has definitely changed a lot and to me it's almost unrecognizable now. But i do remember that big bridge and some monastery/chapel buildings.
Bratislava is livable only in the summer if it is not too hot outside. The other months, it is packed with scum from around the country who try to eke out an existence there, which makes life miserable for residents like me. The scum arrives by train, bus or even car regularly in late September, so plan accordingly. Blava's air pollution gets really bad in the fall and winter, although I must admit it is not as bad as in Budapest, where you can suffocate. Among the positives is general safety everywhere in the city. Bear in mind that the city does not have a metro and relies on a public bus and tram network. The city council has a rather small budget and Slovakia is on the verge of bankruptcy, so the metro is just a distant dream.

Actually I am slovak and do not really understand why people here speak so negativelly about our capital. Maybe they compare it with big cities like Vienna and Budapest which is not fair, let's compare it with similar size cities - like Ljublana, Salzburg or Brno...
I think that Slovaks don’t like it because they are more nature minded people. And also they think Bratislava is so far west that it doesn’t really represent them as a nation. Like Banska Bystrica would be more it, at least that’s what I heard from others while I lived in Slovakia. Also Bratislava slang or dialect would be somehow similar to Czech which doesn’t help either. So I think would be especially people from the east that don’t like it as a capital.
Thank you for the info you shared, it's interesting and a bit 'strange' that people from a country don't like their capital, but considering the info it's pretty understandable, and I'm sure this happen also in other countries!
Bratislava, the only city where I never saw a smiling face even after being there three times. At some point I'll give the city, which is in itself very beautiful, a fourth chance. 🙂
If you visited in autumn-winter, it might be true 😅 jokes aside, let’s say that it’s much much better to go there in spring or summer, the city has different colors and people are happier 🙂
Mostly Slovaks from willages and eastern Slovakia don´t like the city. Why? Bratislava is very pro-european and the thoughts of citcizens is more simmilar to Austrians, than to Slovaks. There is a big difference beteen Bratislava and other parts of the country. Only Trnava city /very close to Bratislava/ and partly Košice are simmilar to Bratislava this way...
I’m Slovak and my dislike of Bratislava has nothing to do with the people who live there or their mentality. I actually appreciate how tolerant and open-minded people in Bratislava are compared to the more rural parts of Slovakia. I just don’t think it’s a very pretty city, especially compared to our neighbours’ capitals.
But there are many such places in Slovakia, basically every regional and larger city Trnava, Nitra, Žilina, Trenčín, Banská Bystrica, Prešov, Poprad, Martin, Prievidza, Zvolen are all nice cities that have a lot to offer! But of course, most of it is understandably concentrated and built in Bratislava, when it is the capital of the country, or in the second largest city in Košice in the east of Slovakia. Because these are the centers of the country's metropolis with international airports.
Most beautiful content so nice profile and looking gorgeous I love British girl ❤❤ so improve in speaking in loudly and clear speech thank so nice video.

Meglio che sia sottovalutata, almeno ce la godiamo in pochi 😊
Sicuramente meno caotica di altre grandi città 😊

This reminds me of Kostromska oblast lol. Extreme southwest lives in another world.
