There is a 3 part event series called What Makes The Sky Blue which is a story of the archangels of the series with Sandalphon as the main protagonist. If you're interested, you should give it a read. But the non-spoiler version is that event series is very popular among Granblue players. I guess since the trailer gives it away, Sandalphon is the current head of the archangels and Lucifer is the former head of the archangels.
Gonna give you the short version because the story is very long. Essentially Sandalphon was a close friend to Lucifer, the head of the archangels. Bad things happen and Sandalphon rebels against the angels, the hero party stops him, Lucifer comes to take him back to be healed, putting Sandalphon in essentially a resting pod. While healing Sandalphon, Lucifer gets stabbed and dealt a mortal wound by Beelzebub, so in his last moments he passes his authority as the head of the archangels and his powers to Sandalphon in the form of his white wings. Sandalphon is shielded by Lucifer's powers and dragged to safety. He wakes up hours later, everything has gone to shit because Lucifer is dead and now it's Sandalphon's job to fix things despite him basically being the reason why died in the first place. Not going to spoil what happens after, but essentially Sandalphon goes through a entire journey so he can,not only, be the head of the Archangels but also, be the best person he can be to protect the world like his dead friend would have wanted. Man earned his status as a hero more than anyone.

Looking at the Season 2 pass, if I had to guess the months when the remaining 4 characters released, I’d go with May, August, October, and January respectively.
