      Thank you. I am pretty familiar with the state laws. Local laws vary though some are weird. But either way state laws often supercede local laws. In fact nost local laws in busy cities will prohibit bicycles on the sisewalks even though wvery1 rides on the sidewalks cuz they are afraid to ride in traffic.

    California law: “1. The law requires a driver passing a bike to give at least 3 feet of clearance between any part of the vehicle and any part of the bike or the person riding it. 2. Where 3 feet of clearance isn't available due to road or traffic conditions, the driver must slow down and pass only when it's safe to do so.”
    Violation is $35 fine.
    Collision with injury to the bicyclist: $220.

      Thats california law. Pa state law is 4ft for safety. I used to live in socal i miss it. But like is said the fines are so small its bs. I talked to a local officer and theres really nothing they can do about it unless they see it happen. But they said the fines may be only a small mount for the one offense but usually it adds up to multiple offenses and fines maybe even turn into a misdemeanor crime. But at the end of the day the cops dont do anything cuz they didnt see it happen or they dont wanna waste their time. And yea 220 bux collision with a cyclist but california is also an at fault state. So you can sue the driver for damages. Here in pa its a no fault state meaning if youre involved in an accident ur insurance has to cover the damages done by the other driver. Usually one insurance company seeks reimbursement from the other after the fact. But in the event of a driver colliding with a cyclist most likely the cyclist is not insured on their bicycle in the even of an accident. I personally have insurance on my velomobile for this reason. Also in a no fault state its very difficult to sue somebody for damages and bodily injury. In california if you get hurt its pretty much set that your gonna get compensated for both. We got depreciation of value, bodily injury compensation and probably 25k in damages from a car accident wen i lived in california. Here in pa it would be almost impossible to get all that.

    Can you wear a helmet while using the hood?

    • @Skisproductions
      @Skisproductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I havent tried. Cuz even without the hood most helmets contact the headrest on the back and kinda make u have to lean forward. Now they do have a neck roll to help with comfort while wearing a helmet.

      i have seen velombile riders on youtube that can do that but i can't wear a helmet if i use my race hood.

      @@Pink-Velo i know saukki doesnt wear a helmet. Plus its really not necessary on a trike. The likelihood of falling over is very slim only if u take ur corner too fast u can roll it. The velomobile is more stable than a regular trike. I ve had my regular trike up on 2 wheels a few times. Rolled it once climbing up a hill that was too steep ended up unweighting the front wheels and it rolled onto its side but at high speeda if u start to roll u just turn away from the wheel thats up and it puts it back down. The only times i can see it actually rolling is on brake bumps on trails and rumble strips. I tried it out on my velomobile and the back end gets like a pogo stick with the rear suspension.

      I paid 11,000 plus shippimga nd the racing hood so around 13k usd total. To get one new ure looking around 20k usd by the time it gets to ur house. Used in the us they go for around 7k but are often older models and less desirable colors.
