The story of Chivas Regal is one of triumphing through adversity, surviving multiple changes in ownership and world wars, yet always maintaining its prestigious status.
A Royal Heritage
It begins in 1801 when John Forrest set up a grocery and wine merchants in Aberdeen. Although the business moved around, whisky was always its primary focus. By the early 20th century, Chivas Brothers had held a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria and launched the Chivas Regal 25 Year Old in 1909, quickly becoming one of the most talked about imported consumer goods among high society.
Legacy and Revival
Despite the challenges of World War I and the Great Depression, Chivas Brothers continued to purchase and squirrel away stocks of Highland malt whiskies. This unrelenting belief in the future success of blended whisky ensured the enduring legacy of Chivas Regal. By the mid-20th century, Chivas Regal 12 Year Old had become a staple in the luxury Scotch whisky market, and by 1960, Chivas Regal was being exported to 35 countries.
Modern Sophistication
A mid-level expression, Chivas Regal 18 Year Old, was introduced in 1997, creating a ladder within the portfolio. The 25 Year Old remains a pinnacle of luxury, with exclusive limited editions and market exclusives continuing to captivate whisky enthusiasts worldwide.

As you go to higher priced ones the value proposition decreases. Mid range is always better.
