Qn - Vinayak said at one point that He's getting smells of seaweed, algae, sea salt. How does he know what these things smell like in the first place? How does he know what oak smells like? Most of us know what cinnamon, pepper, chocolate, honey etc smell like because are common in our kitchens but there so many smells that experts use to describe their experience, smells that are not common in a household. So, before you can identify, you should have smelled it before enough number of times to build up a 'smell memory'. How do you experts build up this smell memory? After one peg, I don’t know if it’s red label or blue label. Save your money and buy red label. To test my theory, I’ve introduced 80% to 90% red label in blue label bottles and my free loader friends still don’t know. They were high and happy as MF thinking they’ve drunk blue label.

Ideally, this comparison should have been between Arbeg 10, Laphroaig 10 and the Lagavulin 10 (currently available). Lagavulin was set up in 1816. Laphroaig and Lagavulin brought out 200th anniversary editions, Arbeg did not.

A few things that cause hangover - low water levels, low blood sugar and congeners (tannins in red wine or dark whiskeys). Hydration is a no brainer but also having drinks with food and early in the evening for better absorption is key.

I have the abunadh and lagavulin. Abunadh is just mind blowing like the creator mentioned and can be a go to when you're out of options. Lagavulin of course has a very strong flavor profile of leather and iodine. Not for everyone but if you enjoy peaty whiskies, then it's perfect.

Hi Vinayak, Port Askaig is Coal Ila. It's a beautiful whisky, but unfortunately Port Askaig is available only in Scotland
