    As a California basser that has watched your channel for many years, I really appreciate the honest and useful content you guys "crank" out every week. You don't bait for online hits by using secret gimmicks and colors or trash talking, and that is why I always come back to your channel. Matt and Tim must be very proud of what they have built.

    Before I really go fishing, I envision it from my arm chair, mentally rehearsing and storing what I learn from you and Matt. Somewhere in that daydream I hope you guys are enjoying a good cup of coffee with me too. It’s a good way to develop and hone the process before going hands on.

    Definitely nailed the basics here - one of the best things about fishing is that you can use these 3 techniques and always have a good chance of success.... or you can add in more advanced techniques like skipping a jig and push the sport even further. It's cool that there's accessibility on the beginner side and room to move up to higher skill levels.

    Another great video with lots of good info. I have searched and watched videos from a lot of other sites. In my humble opinion this is the best site for bass fishing.

    Appreciate all the underwater footage! Tim, I’d love to see you do underwater footage of a swing-head jig with various worms/creature baits on it. I prefer the gamakatsu hybrid swing head jig because I fish predominantly from shore and need casting distance to reach the fish in my highly pressured shoreline fishing only ponds/lakes. I can also stay weedless with my swing head jig while my bait is unattached to my weight for more action and buoyancy.

    I use a lot of 5" senko's, wacky rigged in my area ( smaller bass in Northern IL) with success. I usually give it a little line tug and then pause, and I can feel the low frequency vibration, and I'm sure the fish feel it too and it seems to get their attention well.

      Hello from central Illinois! 6 and 7 inch ones will bring in those bigger bass, but fewer overall bites...Just depends what you're looking for. 2lbs bass will eat a 10 inch shakey head any day of the week, just gotta present it correctly! Tight lines!

    Love my Shaky heads pretty much from Spring to fall up here in the True North as well as my home Province made X Zone plastics here in Ontario Canada. They are the real deal baby! Since it is so hard to find Missile baits up here at an affordable price my favourite Shakyhesd worm is the X Zone MB Fat Finesse Worm. Comes in a great selection of colours and with all X Zone plastics the tails and the claws float! Tim and Matt hopefully you have tried all of the X Zone plastics as they are awesome guys! Great video as always.

    I really appreciate these videos where it’s kept simple. Not everyone has a huge budget or equipment to throw lots of hard baits. Also, with kids in the boat, trebles make me nervous!
    I actually like the sound of the rain in the background. Love a clear and sunny day, but the wacky especially, on a rainy day can be a killer. I think the broken surface makes the fish feel safer.

    Tacticalbassin has been on my TV or phone 95% of the time I've been on TH-cam the last 2-3 months. I just started fishing again this yr when I got a kayak after almost 10yrs and realized I'm a horrible fisherman 😂. I was always pulling huge pond bass figured I was good but now realize they'd hit anything. These vids help me figure out how to actually use what I'm buying.

    I'm already using all these techniques and a few others as well. Now when it comes to Shakey head,.... I got to have a screw lock on it. It's just my preference & I based it on the way the worm will begin to crawl down the hook after a couple of hooksets. Creature baits, I use a few different ones. I love to use a Baby D Bomb in Hillbilly Magic color during the spring time. I use a titanium 1/8ozweight with a bobber stop to keep it compact. And I also use a Bellow's Gills in the 2.8 size the same way. Sometimes I use a Keitech mono spin jig on it just to add some flair and it's a deadly combination. Thanks for sharing this

    One suggestion for a video: the underwater footage is amazing but it can be hard to link what I'm doing with my rod/reel to what the bait does underwater. Maybe a video on retrieves that can show side by side what a "hop" looks like vs "drag" etc. I know for me, bottom fishing feels like a bit of a mystery since I can't really see what my bait is doing a lot of the time.

    Tim another great video. I am going to Canada so I need a medium spinning rod primarily for walleye fishing. I am considering several rods which could later also be used for bass fishing. One is the medium 7’ intenza you recommend here. The others are the st croix avid walleye rod 7’1” medium mod-fast, or the 7’3” extra fast, or the 7’ medium shimano Zodias. I find that getting an all around rod for walleye fishing for jigging and jerkbait fishing is difficult. It is a float trip so I am limited on gear and have my large northern pike dobyns furr rod and a medium heavy trolling rod for large lake trout and northern pike so I just need a third rod for walleye combing both jerk baits and jig fishing but I would like to use this for bass fishing afterwards.

  • @Boza_
    @Boza_ ปีที่แล้ว

    Shakey head is my confidence technique I fish it all the time, you can also have great success on them with slender creatures/craws. I prefer the buckeye spot remover (non screw lock) it allows the fish to get a better gap on the hook and you’ll catch more fish

    I NEED HELP! It's been HOT, sunny (NOT A CLOUD), and slick calm. My water is still in the Prespawn range, upper 50's, maybe still under 60°F. I'm getting skunked other than a few small buck bass on wacky rigged stickbaits. Weeds are barely starting, there is some shallow slimey green algae. What would you throw???

    I like to throw a "ned shot". I tie a drop shot worm on (wacky rigged Senkos work well) with a ned rig instead of a drop shot weight. It doubles my chances of catching one as it allows me to fish the bottom and slightly off the bottom. ✌🏾

  • @jerryc2709
    @jerryc2709 ปีที่แล้ว

    I fish Texas rigged Trick Worms from April to late November and do very well with them. Since the Chick has an abundance of grass in the warm weather months, they come through the vegetation great. I use a 1/8 oz weight exclusively to prevent it from getting mired. My best colors are green pumpkin, green pumpkin with purple glitter, green pumpkin candy, and watermelon candy. They will bite those all season long. They're not a big fish bait but I have caught numerous 4 and 5 lb fish.

    I have a question for any of you experienced bass fishermen. How long, typically, does it take someone new to the sport to get to the point where they can actually catch bass fairly regularly? I just started bass fishing in September of this last year, so I guess I've been at it 6 to 7 months. I HAVE caught a few, but I'd say probably 4 out of every 5 trips out I get totally skunked. Just wondering if this is typical for newbies or if I'm just REALLY bad at it? I'm getting more than a little discouraged, so I was just curious if this is typical or am I just wasting my time?

    Thanks, Tim! Great info. Funny how fishing has evolved. Years ago "Texas Rig" meant worms. Now the "Shakey head" has replaced that use. I still TR worms though. Anyone remember that? Anyone still do it?

    • @gunadoo
      @gunadoo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're different, the way I think of it is shakey heads are used for more finesse approaches and TR is more used for dragging worms through weeds

    • @swimstud5151
      @swimstud5151 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gunadoo the original comment made me lol. I still use a Texas rig every time I fish. These days it's only for stick bait and creature bait stuff, but I fish that worm 90% of the time If I have a skinny worm or a long one with different tails I've started putting it on a shaky head the past year... mostly due to the advice here and throughout the sport. It's hard and expensive to change and adapt to new techniques and tackle but it's worth it!
