I'm a Glens fan, and I am happy that Larne qualified. They are a second tier club 6 or 7 seasons ago, and now they are in the proper Conference League. One of the best nights in the history of Northern Irish football.

@@PakoraToes Wasn't just that they sacked their workforce it was all last minute and they replaced them with foreign staff and paid them 3-4 quid an hour because their employment was registered in Malaysia or Indonesia.

A surreal achievement for a club the size of Larne to get Europe. £2.5m for qualifying is like £20m to them!

@@theinfernomaster8826 Good luck to them.I don't understand the sour grapes coming from other Irish League fans, this league has needed a reputation boost for as long as i remember and this is it, Linfield totally fucked it a couple of years ago and now Larne have had the luck to go ahead and grasp it, good luck to them. They are playing catchup now domestically but this is an achievment that may not happen again for a long time, they got the luck of the draw amongst other things but i don't like or understand the bitterness towards them.
You should go see TNS in Europe first ever time for them as well and first Welsh team to get into Europe through the Welsh league

I'm getting worried here, Linfield fan saying he's part of something Irish lol Good for Larne though, I'm a Bohs fan, would love the return of the Setanta Cup so we could play teams in Northern Ireland again. In 2010 the year we won it, I got to visit the Oval and Windsor park, great experience. Not safe places to visit usually but with the Cup we got an escort from the PSNI lol

they are not achieving all this buy some kind of miracle they are receiving a highly significant level of investment for the standard of football they are playing at.
Larne is part of the problem with modern football, a plastic club, just like the Red Bull clubs no better than
the Red Bull clubs they have not achieved it buy youth development or strategically buying players they are buying players of a standard. Most Irish league clubs could not dream of affording even Linfield.
I am a Glentoran fan. we have investment, but we can't invest to the level
of Larne.
It will be good to have

The Conference League in terms of
The Irish League, but that is it.
The question is, in decades to come, will they fans still be following Larne when they are back in

Big up Larne and big up the conference league for existing and letting scenes like this happen. My team Villa going to be crushing it in the big dance this year, but for a neutral the conference league will always be the most interesting and exciting because of scenes like this.

Crikey, I shed a tear at the full-time celebrations, what a day for Northern Irish football.
The bye they got in Round 2 and a favourable draw has massively helped them for qualification, but as an LOI fan, im happy for them

I made a rare pop up on 'X' last night after I'd seen you in the crowd vlogging at the end and watching the game on I player live was pretty good, but I have to say that even knowing what happened, watching this video almost surpassed that, you really captured the atmosphere at the game & the passion of all the people involved with Larne from the owner down to the young lads on he terraces on such a historic night they will never forget. Although i loathe UEFA, i love what they've done with the Conference League...giving smaller clubs from smaller leagues the chance for European glory. It may not have the glamour or quality of UCL but it's far more exciting 💋

The Fairs Cup was another competition. That ended in 1971. The Europa League used to be called the UEFA Cup.

Idk but there is something special about a tight community pitch and team that reaches a level of groups in an European competition, even if its Conference. It reminds me of the true passion of the sport beside the big boys throwing money into UCL. Congrats from Bucharest, I always keep an eye on the irish sides for lively highlights such as these. Steaua will beat the crap out of RFS tonight in EL for ya as well, backed by 50k fans.
Great to see two Irish club get past the qualifying stages.. and a good chance of taking some points with them drawing each other.. Hopefully leads to some pregression on and off the park and the ultimate dream of an All Ireland League.

I was at this game! You can even see me celebrating with my white hoodie for the goals in the first half. Travelled an hour from 2 counties away to see the game, and what a game it was. As a Portadown fan, a qualification for Larne is a qualification for the whole league. It’s a shame they didn’t get Chelsea at home.

Larne are my Irish team, got family over there and I've been to some games, everything going great for them 👍
Victoria Stadium is having a massive upgrade, Red Imps were playing their other games at Europa Point which had to be brought up to scratch even to host those. Gib are playing their smaller opponents there too I think, with the bigger games probably at the Stadium Algarve in Portugal. The only other pitch that's accessible to the public on the peninsula is halfway up the rock at the old barrack, I think the modern military base has it's own pitch too.

Just fwiw... Keith Gillespie was a year below me in school and played for our BB team as kids. He used to come for kickabouts down in our wee local pitch too until teenage years when Utd got their teeth into him.

The1 in 10 support from the town of 19000 is good going ,but Ross County hammer that with Dingwall having a population of 5550 and they get attendance of 4000.
On a similar ratio, Tranmere in EFL league 2 had population of 11,668 in last census of 2021 and had opening day attendance this season of over 8,000 and historically have had higher still. Confidently expecting a gate of over 10,000 if a successful season this year. What makes it all the more remarkable is that we have two of the English games largest clubs that dominate (in a way you cannot imagine) the local media and between them now have a combined unbroken spell of top flight football extending over 130 years both within about a four mile radius of our ground. Tranmere don't get enough credit for their fans loyalty and their continued overachievement in the face of such opposition.
So glad that Northern Ireland finally get into the Group Stage, Well done Larne!

Great to see and in behind the scenes was wee Davy Wilson ex Brook Villa and a great cheerleader..
1:15 did it once but in a cross-country away day back in 2019, literal round trip as the way back was an all-land trek through a different route as we couldn't take the ferry back due to its scheduling. Match ended at 5pm and I was back home almost at midnight (taking into account that we did not depart immediately and we stopped along the route to grab a bite). One of the best away trips I ever had.

Thank you for covering our wee league. I'm a lifelong Crusaders fan (unlike all the "new" Larne fans) but it's great for our league to do this. Gonna be difficult for the Inver men with the backlog of games - particularly considering the Top 6 have started strongly!
