Yes, you can also use coloured prints with either a laser or an ink jet and I just buy the cheapest computer paper you can buy this video will help you outHow to Photo Transfer with Mod Podge and INK JET printer / EASY DIY th-cam.com/video/F17WmucEwqM/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for the comparison. I’m teaching a class next week and was thinking of trying this method but I have an ink jet printer. I feel like it will work if I teach them your tips since it’s a small graphic!!😊
Thank you! I only have a inkjet and all the videos on YT say they use a laser jet with no explanation as to why. Thank you for showing both options and the reasons why you use a laser jet. I can’t afford to buy a whole new printer but I will go to staples to print the few photos I need. Thank you 😊
My first attempt was not good with an Ink Jet Printer. I even baked the image for 15 min at 250. The ink just rubbed off. Will try again ... and again. Going to try with less water and a more gentle touch.
That’s unfortunate sometimes the inkjet printer transfers just don’t work well if you’re going to be doing this technique a lot I always recommend it’s worthwhile investing in a laser printer
I print my own clip art for decopauge. If I put Mod Podge on the print side of my inkjet printed design, the ink runs no matter how dry the ink is. I always spray on a coat of a clear crylic spray. Krylon makes a low odor spray that you can use without fumigating yourself. I don't print enough clip art to warrant e buying a laser printer.
You've inspired me to make these signs. So my husband bought me a HP Lazer printer for Christmas. Of course it's probably because my first attempt was on Lauan wood from Dollar Tree. But have you ever had the copy paper leave behind a gray color background.😕 I also used Waverly white chalk paint. My copy paper is Pen + GEAR from Walmart. Help!
If you’re finding the Easter have a hazel paper, then I would just work in small sections, dip your finger in paper and keep rubbing but I do find the dollar store. Wood sometimes does not transfer well onto and needs two or three coats of chalk paint.
Enjoy your tutorials, but which would you recommend for printing on old book pages, ink jet or laser? I have several vintage dictionaries and other old books and was wondering if it would be better to scan in a page and put an svg with opacity reduced on another layer and print that out, or print directly on an old book page, fastened to a sheet of printer paper like a napkin? Or do you think a vintage book page wouldn't be able to be printed on without tearing up a printer?
I’ve done this but with an inkjet printer and 95% of the time it comes out ok although labor intense and time consuming . Reversing graphics is a chore if you don’t how to do it so it’s off to Staples to pay for it. Someday they’re be a better way and we’ll wonder “what where we thinking of?” There has to be another solution and you’re just the person who can find it. It’s not necessarily stencils, Cricut or hand drawn letters and graphics, but another form of paper or surface and one where we don’t have to reverse the graphics. Maybe we should print on white napkins or tissue paper. I’m eager to see what you come up with.
An excellent technique if you struggle with the reverse method is to just DIY your own napkins with the image on it, and then decal it onto your project. It doesn’t quite have the same look, but it is much easier and you don’t have to reverse the image.
Are you sponsored by Hewlett-Packard? Constantly saying "LaserJet" (which is a HP trademark) rather than just "laser", which is a generic type of printer, the way "ink jet" is a type of printer. I was so hopeful, seeing "INK JET VS LASER" in the title text, but then the audio is constant "laserjet, laserjet, laserjet …"
I stayed up til the early morning hours looking at your crafts Thank you. You gave me some ideas for my Christmas giving. You are awesome
So glad you enjoyed and it was helpful!
This was so good to find out. I’ve wondered if I could do this with my ink jet printer. Yay!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your videos. They always give good useful information.
Glad you like them!
Thank you. At least now I know it can be done. There's still some life in my old ink jet printer 😁
Glad I could help!
How do the colored ones come out?
And what is your advice on paper type? Cheaper/thinner paper? Or heavier.

I got a colour laser jet for $50 from Craigslist, 10/10 best investment ever. No more leaking dried ink!
Excellent find thanks for watching

That’s a great tip. I also do that. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for the video. Have you tried this process with water slide clear sheets?
Not yet!
I love your videos. You give me so much inspiration. Do you happen to have a link to a color laser printer?
I don’t have a link for a coloured blazer. I only have a black toner laser.amzn.to/49OERA6

Thank you so much for the reply. I know you have so many other people asking you for tips. That makes me appreciate you more.😊
Could you use a baby wipe to dampen graphic?
I haven’t tried but worth a go

Yes I would print right on book page and attach to paper with double sided tape
Very very helpful, thank you very much 😊
Glad you enjoyed
Thank you so much!!! God Bless your life.
You're welcome!

I always thought this technique didnt work with laser jet, I'm surprised it actually works better :O
Yea sure does
I only have an inkjet printer. Can you use other colors; will they work?
Yes it will
Do you have a single video that shows all the mistakes we should avoid when making this type of sign?
No sorry I don’t
Where is the link to which printers you have?

@@OurUpcycledLife Thanks! I didn't know laser printers were that inexpensive!
Yes, over the last couple years a really come down in price and they’re very affordable
Good to know too bad you can't stain vs chalk paint.
👍
