Hell yea!! So with big hits,Belliard with great defense, and Juan was quietly consistent... Then Jeff Weaver,Anthony Reyes,Jeff Suppan and Chris Duncan! And Tony was damn near perfect with decisions in the playoff run. LOVE that team!!
its amazing how many former players have a great relationship with the ballclub after they retire or move on even if they were not on world series teams.
Ironically, the 2004 and 2005 teams were probably better, but this one won the Championship. Not just what you do but when to do it. This was especially sweet because all the “experts” said the Cardinals had no chance, first against the Mets, then against the Tigers.
I was there at that game. Waino had a complete game shutout. People that were not there from the 2006 championship team: Albert Pujols (on the Angels), So Taguchi (don't know why), Ronnie Belliard (again, don't know why), but where was Chris Carpenter? Also, RIP Chris Duncan
I was at the series. I have a giz like Scott Spezio and decided to dye it red like Spezio and did so. Getting on the airplane to go there walking thru first class someone said to me..Hey I was gonna do that and didn't. I said u big Cards fan? He said yes. I said who is your favorite player? He said Chris Duncan. I said really? Chris is my Nephew. The person talking to me was Billy Bob Thornton. Ran into him couple times while there. Fun time. Not so fun now as Chris isn't doing well...
This 21 team is actually more like the 06 team than the 11 team.11 team would beat the current players but 06 v now would be a good matchup, hard to tell which would emerge.
Rip Chris Duncan
missing first baseman Albert Pujols, center fielder So Taguchi (he kicked ass btw lol) and Belliard!
Albert had a game that day
@@patrickperry8951 So was probably in Japan.
Also Juan encarnacion

R.I.P. Chris Duncan
2 active players left from that year. Crazy
Technically three since Albert Pujols is still playing
@@CMOTrains783 Probably means that is currently still playing on the Cardinals. But your right.
@@CMOTrains783 facts
Still 2 active players lol crazy
@@mattgmattg83 On the Cards. Albert is still playing

Our ownership and management especially John MO. Are the absolute best in the business. It does not get no better!!

Taguchi is a baseball coach in Japan now for the Orix Buffaloes is most likely the reason he wasn't there.
Juan encarnacion?

Lots of former Angels on that team.

Eckstein looks like he could still play.
Anthony Reyes has become a firefighter in California after his baseball career ended, now he's fighting forest fires.
Wow, I did not know that. I watched him pitch a day game here in Memphis in 2007.
A few former Angels Jim Edmonds, David Eckstein and Scott Spezio
Chills
The most underachieving, overachieving Cards team ever

Thompson still looks like he is about 15 years old.
