A friend in one of my current Lancer sessions recently went from Enkidu to Empakaai. He's used to cooking himself alive. He's looking forward to doing it with a giant fist.
Take orator and the external speakers system and demorilize your opponents by announcing that the newest season of wrestle mania has started and they're the main event
With how many characters Empaakai can potentially easily grapple at once, the Bristlecrown Fleschette Launcher suddenly becomes just a little bit more powerful.
"This hand of mine glows with an awesome POWER! Its burning grip tells me to defeat you! Take this! My love, my anger, and all of my sorrow! SHINING FINGER!!!"
For some reason, after hearing about that Core Power, I can't help but think Harrison Armory's legal team will be threatening IPS-N, claiming, "You're stealing our thing! Only our mechs are supposed to benefit from Redlining!" Either that, or HA will try to create their own grappler mech and then use it to challenge Blackbeard and Empakaai to a wrestling match...
I like to imagine the BFAOD (Big Friendly Arm Of Doom) creates some kind of magnetic-gravitational force effect that just pulls in all sorts of shit alongside its target. Like how terrifying would it be if you were suddenly wrenched off the ground and force choked into this giant robot’s arm, looking around you seeing bits of rock, spent casings, maybe even a cybernetic limb or two from a bystander that it ripped off upon activation. All just floating around you, violently vibrating in space like the debris knows what’s about to happen to you and is actively trying to get away. And then it starts laying into you using a bristlecrown launcher point blank with a steady chuck-chuck-chuck until you stop twitching. Empakaai can be scary as fuck.
Image one standing beside a Barbarossa spinning up their rail. You can either panic charge them and talk to the hand, or keep your distance and count down the moments too your own annihilation. Well up until a Goblin shows up to do Goblin things, but you get the idea.
I don't know how meme this would be, but this mech has a heavy _and_ a flex mount... so with 3LL in Zheng you could equip a D/D 288 for _Double Big Fucking Hands_ in a combo I like to call "The Doble Dragon".
@@AzureIV Yes, there is a slot for heavy weapons and an auxiliaries mount so you can mount the D/D 288. I just like the idea of an even bigger D/D 288.
@@madmalkavian3857the sensible thing is to mount the other arm. To balance the mech out. But if youre already piloting this thing you probably would put the ram on the big arm
I like the idea of this mech and using it in theory, but after attempting to use it twice and just unfortunately rolling low on every grapple check, I think the universe was telling me not to. And to be fair it also kinda some very big turns with a lot of conditional/on-hit effects that chew up a lot of playtime, on par with a Goblin. If you run it with executioner 3, you get the standard fair of operations: reroll 1 miss on a different target, and repeat 1 hit on a different target, once per round. With its core and traits, however, you also get: -to force a hull save to grapple ALL nearby targets BEFORE attacking. This means you can attempt this up to 3 times each round thanks to executioner 3, which is quite frankly, a lot (with no resource cost). -it can give difficulty on one of these saves (which is easy to forget) -on top of that, with the core bonus you can grapple after any successful hit, in case a target succeeded their save. It does heat you up, but you can exploit that by turning it into damage. Pair it with a Deep Well Heat Sink to compensate for your self heat as well. I wouldn't say it's overpowered persay (though I may be biased due to poor luck), but it is a lot to track. You'll be making a lot of rolls, and forcing a lot of saves.
Ah, I've been anticipating this since art of what I've been referring to as "THE ALMIGHTY PIMP-HAND!!!" (yes the exclamation marks are part of it) first popped up on the Lancer subreddit.
It's funny, one of my players said that if her character ever went evil, she would use the empakaai. Makes me wish we had NPC's for player frames so i could have her meet an alternate version of herself, lol.
I was worried there wouldn't be a Burning Finger reference. Guess the low heat cap is why they usually fought one-on-one in organised robot boxing matches and Domon used it 1-2 times max per fight.
Slap executioner 3, pankrati, heatfall, deepwell, and a gravity gun on this and you have one of the most oppressive controller/striker builds in the game by LL 6
Well a got 3 things to say some of it has nothing to do with this video 1. Have you seen the trailer for the new game mecha break 2. This and blackbeard and enkidu are the core of the chaotic dream team that put fear in the heart of there enemies and there alleys And this is prime meme material to compare empakaai to the charger from Left 4 dead 2
So I once heard of the beautiful, deranged, homicidal beauty that was Vlad Beard. Grapple hook onto your enemies, grapple them close to you, and every time they attack they take AP damage. And they're shredded (with a Vlad chasis, specifically). This? Sure, not as mobile... But Imagining having the Drill To Pierce the Heavens on one side, and the Burning Claw on the other.... I'm sorry to say, but that just sounds like a great time. Sure, you're basically asking to get cooked alive VERY quickly... but then again, the idea of shunting all that head into your enemy.... nice.
I just got to LL2 in our campaign, and this is my very first frame unlock. I eagerly await the chance to actually use this thing and see it in action. I desperately had to restrain myself from slapping the Tempest Charged Blade in the other hand, because as hilarious as TWO superheavy weapons on a single mech frame is, I suspect it'd impair my ability to fight by an enormous degree.
Not necessarily. Yes, both require full barrage actions, but if you don't mind the lack of versatility, you're already stationary and grappling someone. As long as it doesn't cook you alive, bring on the pain in following turns.
Sure, but that comes at massive opportunity cost. Could the 1-2 punch set-up work? Sure. But it's a matter of which is more generally useful and functional, and I'm afraid that twin superheavy melee weapons on a mech, while badass and hilarious, is just not a very good plan. This is the sort of thing you want to do at higher license level, when you and your friends have more options to build around your stupid meme build. Now don't worry, I didn't throw aside all joy for function, I'm going full melee with the build. Would a gun be better than having a nanocarbon sword and twin flechette launchers? Undoubtedly. But I'm here to play the game to have fun, not be safe.@@crystoskitsune393
