It's a crazy set up. Nobody is going to go through all that hassle just to go on a holiday. Just go back to the way it was before Covid and people will travel. If you have had your 2 Vaccines and you show your Vaccine Card at the Airport that should be enough.

I had my initial Thailand Pass application rejected (5 days after application) because they said my health insurance was inadequate, even though it covered up to US$100,000. I reapplied with the same documents and got approval within 24 hours. The main frustration is not being able to contact anyone to resolve any problems.

Hi JTN ( Jay, Tim and Natty) - Glad to hear that things are getting better in Thailand. In most of the western world, we do not wear masks out side , as long as we are atleast 2 meters from someone else. This way we get some fresh air. We carry a mask with us or wear the mask under the chin, and put it on/pull it up when we come across some one. Since the Thai law requires to wear masks even when you are outside, how do you get to see the great thai smiles ???? Like the one Natty has !

    • @onedge1176

I want to share. I have had several basil cell carcinoma skin cancers on my arm and face. Luckily this a very safe cancer as it normally does not spreads. But it does grow and the normal way of treating it is to cut it out. Not good for your face. I read canibus oil was a good treatment. I put a drop on my skin cancer and after a month it was gone. So it works.

to get an insurance policy to be able to enter Thailand. Not to mention the overly priced hotels you have to stay in. This is why I'm not going to Thailand this year. makes me sad...

The big problem [to me] is the availability it would appear of SHAR or AQ hotels for just the one night. Without a confirmation you can't complete the pass and so can't enter Thailand. If this isn't sorted out tourist numbers will drop dramatically. Incidentally, could you take a minute to explain the difference in these hotel titles- are both acceptable?

Not sure Brian Flowers' "hunger strike" counts as one. Coconut juice is packed with vitamins, minerals and potassium. I think if you're drinking water too you can survive for quite some time. Pls correct me if I'm wrong
And no, the Thai authorities won't lose sleep over one farang's stand. Heck, they wouldn't even allow a single farang to get a Covid jab, that's how much they care about our wellbeing!

@@isaanman5399 thanks! that is my point. I remember that when the vaccine rollout began in May there was an outcry when news broke that one farang (in Isaan, I think) had registered for his first jab. The PM had to call a presser and declare that not a single farang would be jabbed until all the Thais had had theirs. They clearly relented but that was the last straw for me - I went back to the UK and got my jabs there. The UK's NHS declared very publicly at the time that every single person there had an equal right to jabs, whether British or not - even illegal immigrants and asylum seekers had the same right. Their thinking was that it doesn't matter who you were - if you were not jabbed you were a threat to other people too.
So I'm absolutely delighted you had a great result but it took some months before the Thai politicians changed their stance on this, under substantial pressure.
Btw, the Brits are strongly recommending the over-60s (not everyone) get booster shots because the immunity wanes - will you be getting yours? I'm gonna try to get mine

I do not understand why the Thai government asks people who have received 2 doses to show they had got 1 dose before. It seems that they don't see one cannot get 2 doses without having got 1 dose.

I agree with Tim that the departments will not be linked to make the Thai visa easier. This is nonsense, wishful thinking. I remember hearing years ago that the BTS and MRT will be linked with just one card and that has never happened. I don't hear about that much anymore. I think you take a pretty casual attitude to what people are going thru with this mess of the online system. My husband is in Europe and waiting to get his code so he can come back here where we live. His hotel and flights are booked and it is nerve racking. By not throughly testing the system before it is revealed for the public to use screams ineptitude. Are you aware there was no contact number that people could use when if first came out? Couples who applied at the same time would get very different responses. One would get the code almost immediately while the other person could be waiting for days. Pretty shabby way to treat tourists and foreigners!

The trouble with the mask law is that it's silly. Tourists have to be vaccinated and there's no need for them to be wearing masks, especially outdoors. (And, yes, it makes no sense at all when there are no distancing measures in restaurants.) Of course, the alcohol ban makes no sense either, as drinking alcohol is no more dangerous for disease transmission than eating together, packed into restaurants.

Jay your math is off. You said only 11% of people had a problem. That is false. The highest group didn't even try. 59%. That means one 11% of the remaining 41%. That number is 26.8%. That is considerably higher than 11%. I thought you went to international schools in Phuket. Maybe your parents should ask for some of those fees back. Good thing you weren't hired for your Math skills. :)

Good work on creating the channel boys but I think Natty will fast become the STAR of the show and I would be surprised if she is not Head Hunted for bigger things soon. No problem seeing you guys daily but Monday girl doesn't cut it for Natty you need her there every day.
Very refreshing indeed and make sure you keep her.

Tim! Jumping on the privacy bandwagon is particularly unhelpful before you actually understand how it works. What happens is the the participating government links your specific vaccination status information to your passport number so this (and this only) can be accessed by immigration in the country you are travelling to. In other words it means that vaccination status is now included in the information immigration have access to. As Natty pointed out there - what else could there be to gain?.. also, I am team Natty too - she is great and very articulate.

My Thailand Pass approval took less than 1min so guess I was auto-approved. As no person could have checked everything in that short time it actually seems that it is automatically done.

As a non Thai, I got my TP about 10 mins after submitting. It’s very easy and fast as long as you have all the docs in JPG format. To automatically get JPG format, I took pics of all docs with my iPhone camera and send them to my laptop. I made the TP application using G chrome from my laptop and attaching the pics from my IPhone. That’s it! Very easy and compliments to Thailand.

The sad thing is that this happens so rarely. Not quite a reason to celebrate yet. The truth is that this process SUCKS!

Masks wearing is essential for now. However.... the Thai mainstream news broadcasters wear a mask during the broadcasts.... but GMT seem to feel it is not necessary? But pointing fingers at those who don't? I am just saying. But all in all I love the shows.
