*what makes lyricist/composer/producer pablo SINGULAR is the way he intuitively ties his great capacity for storytelling and emotions to lyrical brilliance. that's what sets him apart from OTHER ppop lyricists/composers/producers out there. that's what also sets him apart from other vocalists; him being the creator of the song and him knowing fully well the intention behind each of his songs that's why even his delivery is intentional. he does whatever he needs to do to best tell the story or the message of his songs in the most lyrically, sonically and emotionally engaging manner possible. kayaaa nga i've been saying this since forever that pablo will leave his mark in OPM in a way that it will be impossible to think of OPM in the future without thinking of him. i truly believe that pablo is unconsciously reviving the art and the essence of lyricism in filipino pop songs. what i'm trying to say is pablo IS the best. it's true.* :)
*please forgive me po for my long comment.*

Pau is a real Godly man. In some of the interviews, he said that without GOD he cannot continue his journey nor prevail in every struggle.

I also appreciate Kumunoy. What I like in Pau's songs is that it always has a redemption at the end, as he said he wanted his songs to touch hearts and inspire people..🤗💙

It reminds me also of their song NYEBE as he mentioned somewhere that apparently Our dried tears look like snow under a microscope. Pablo ,the quiet genius talented poet and lyricist not just a songwriter

Omg. Thank you for this. I love sb19 - all of them. However, and though I am loathe to admit it out loud, Pablo is my bias. It’s because of his freaking brain!
Because I’ve devoured a lot of interviews and all kinds of material about the group, there are many dots to connect that hint at some of his struggles that point to why he has such songs of anguish like Ilaw, Kumunoy, La Luna and ??? (the unreleased prequel to La Luna). But this could all be (mis)interpretations lol. The only one who can confirm them is Pablo himself. And what a treat it would be to just talk to him for a day or two without interruption.
My reaction to Kumonoy when I first heard it was visceral. I stumbled upon a live performance of his. It was on stage over 3 years ago. He was unable to finish the song. He has subsequently performed it live on TikTok - but the last verses (what you call taking accountability and talking to God) have always absent. Until the LA concert. It could be that this was why he couldn’t release the song until now? It’s been a process for him to come to this final portion.
I especially love the staccato way he sings part “di ko maintindihan, tinik s’aking lalamunan” This makes it sound like sobs to me. Goodness. What mastery over not just lyrics but melody and rhythm. Drives me nuts.
I have so much to say about the song and the comments section here isn’t the best venue. Lol. But let me just add that based on his delivery, this emotion he feels (depression? Uncertainty? Loneliness? Anguish?) is something he knows may always be there, but he has come to terms with it, because with God’s help, he has been able to choose to do so. Even in the last lines he sings about relief but in a plaintive way.

Regarding Pablo’s knowledge of biology, his song Nyebe is actually not just about snow but about tears and science has discovered that the chemical make up of tears changes with what causes it. The chemical make up of tears of joy are different from those shed when one is grieving, etc.

Kumunoy has always been JPN's anthem, probably his most iconic song as a soloist. He's been building it up as he goes on this journey as an artist. It started without the last few parts, without the resolution. It seems like he's been gathering his experiences through the years to put it into this song. So the moment he releases this, we'd have a completion of a time in his life, like a memory capsule of some sort of his experiences through his artist and mindset and mental health journey in the past few years.
When he decides to release it, it will be so epic.

Thank u for ur interpretation of Pablo's song. It is detailed word by word, verse by verse n into parts. So good for us to understand. This song showcase his poetry n artistry. That's why i like Pablo a lot. He just don't t make a song, he uses word plays n put 2 or more meaning in a word in poetry. We got to be intelectual in order to understand what he was portraying. I wish he would release this song coz it is already overdue.

Thank you for this very informative reaction on Pablo’s “kumunoy”. All songs written and released by Pablo showcases his genius musicality and him being a poetic lyricist will definitely make a mark on Philippine music industry. Watch out for a new OPM trademark that will be known worldwide

Thank you for this analysis -- I've started to hear about this band and the vocalists -- and only the highest praise. But, SB19 needs more experts to explain the meaning behind the songs like BTS had with ARMY in the beginning. It's easy to get English subtitles but it's the emotion and poetry I would like to appreciate even more. Impressive for sure.

during this performance of KUMUNOY Pablo here somehow come to terms of things he was so frustrated about, there's some level of acceptance, still painful to listen to & to watch him with conflicting thoughts & feelings (that moment when he was tapping his head & beating his chest) I still feel him... yong "pagsusumamo"? haha I am not sure if there's an English word to much the exact feeling, even to use the word beg/begging it still doesn't give justice. Compared to his first ever performance of this same song... it was so heart-wrenching, that you can almost touch his anguish. I hope very soon Pablo will release KUMUNOY & ??? and the rest of his unreleased songs.

Pablo explained that he chose to sing Kumunoy in an effort to preserve his voice because La Luna requires him to use his vocal chords in ways that is unsustainable with the schedule they were keeping. Thank you for this breakdown. I appreciate your insights.

This song is very emotional for Pablo. The first time he performed it he was not able to finish it. To hear him perform this song again in public means he is much stronger now and has gotten over whatever it is that he feels was pulling him down. His voice just added to the angst. He is not just a singer/composer/producer he is an artist a rare gem in OPM.

Wow, I was at the Anaheim concert too! Kumunoy must be mainstreamed! It's too good! Actually during the concert, while waiting in line, we saw Pablo and Josh went out the backstage and rode their van. Looks like they went back to their hotel - which I'm thinking Poblo might've grabbed his Kumunoy demo. He didn't perform Kumunoy prior to the LA leg. That night, I felt extra special because he performed Kumunoy.

Interesting we were in the same concert and yes, it was hard for me to hear all the lyrics but I tried to get my friend (I just introduced to SB19) to pay attention to it because the message is good from what I could figure out. That was a nice and thorough reaction of yours.

Thanks for this RV! Been looking forward to your RV since I came across your RV to their Ilaw. Thanks for a deeper analysis. Read a comment on a fan vid of the kumunoy in the recent concert - that there were lines that he added to the original composition (realization of the presence of friends and family that he can turn to, and the resolution part).
His first live performance of this song was indeed shorter - and was so heart wrenching. ( happy that it seems he is in a better place in this latest version)

Even in a non-medical setting a "hardened heart" means something negative or bad. It can mean "loss of emotions" which basically makes a person unable to act and react properly to situations.
But I won't be surprised if what you said about "hardened heart" is also one of the meanings intended by Pablo. Coz, fun fact, even in NYEBE, he inserted something scientific in there. If we read through the lyrics, the NYEBE or snowflakes he was referring to are the tears or tear drops. And if we look both snowflakes and tear drops under a microscope, it will show surprisingly similar patterns which are not consistent with other forms of water. 🤯
