Domenico Scarlatti was nothing short of a genius. If only he could know this piece is still being performed live in 2019, almost 263 years after his death.
One of the last, and surely one of the greatest, masterpiece of the italian polyphony. From the generation following the one of Alessandro Scarlatti Italian music took another direction...

I have now learned that Stabat Maters can sound a little different from each other, due to the Capella where it is played. This version sounds very good and I see that Ana Quintans is there! I like it.

Which Scarlatti is, Alessandro or Domenico? Both composed Stabat Mater.

Rather too slow in most part and somewhat harsh for my taste but still enjoyed the performance. Thank you AVRO & TROS!
Personally I miss the balance, because two soprano's are too loud in the mix, but still they are excellent artists.
I agree. Heard the same piece several years ago at the Festival with Concerto Italiano (Alessandrini) and that is still my absolute standard although I enjoyed this performance too.
And the worst part: the ghost!!!
Erg mooi, maar waarom met een kistorgeltje? Die kenden ze in die tijd echt niet. Als er niet anders is....OK, maar er staat notabene een prachtig orgel in de zaal.
Speciaal gebouwd voor barokmuziek en het festival maar verleden jaar werd het ook maar één keer gebruikt :-(
Gelukkig werd gisterenavond met Canto Lontano het huisorgel wél gebruikt hoewel een kistorgel op het podium stond :-)
@@HarpsichordVinylGallery , goed nieuws. Ben benieuwd naar de opname. Meunier zal het op de slotavond ook vast gebruiken. Op zijn laatste cd gebruikt hij ook een groot orgel. Zeer overtuigend.
Ik ga ze eerst vanavond in de Domkerk horen met een klavecimbel voor de basso continuo-partij volgens het programma.
