He also won a BAFTA for his performance in Elvis. In my opinion he was robbed of an Oscar.
Oscar snubbed the entire movie. Really disgusting. Everyone knows this, and are particularly upset for Austin. No secret out there in internet land. But it won many other awards. Austin is now very well known worldwide and will do well if he stays humble.
Totally agreed!! Almost any actor can put on a fat suit and cry but not everyone can portray Elvis like Austin did.

Austin Butler protraid Elvis Presley well he should gotten the Oscars
He most definitely should have. He put two years of work doing nothing but working on trying to get Elvis right. Not an easy feat, as he is probably the the least entertainer that anyone could ever get right. Kurt Russell came the closest years go. Elvis had so much charisma and aura about him, like magic. Because of that, I was against the movie. I wanted just a documentary showing the real deal. But...Austin pulled off the almost impossible...and, so sadly, was not recognized for that at the Academy Awards. So glad he got the Golden Globes and BAFTA and a lot of others. Baz should have gotten A LOT MORE! Cinematography, costumes, sets(amazing!) sound and so much more! This movie, not even being a blockbuster type, still came right off the screen at you. People all over the world saw it countless times.

Thank you for this interview as part of Austin s acting journey, who impressed me once again though sensitivity and realness when talking about Elvis, Lisa and of course fulfilling his mother s dream. So overwhelming!!! This masterpiece of Elvis movie made me go to 8 theaters to watch it and after that I found out it was nominated for 8 Oscars :) It is the best tribute movie ever made to honor a legend and offer the cultural perspective of the USA.

As I was watching Austin talk to Willie,years suddenly came in my eyes ,as he started talking of his mother ,and how she helped him get to interviews for parts in shows and things in Hollywood .Especially when Austin talked of his Mum,and what she gave up to help him to get his dream in acting ! He is a very Cherished person in my life ,I have never talked to him in person or met him ,but I to had a sudden feeling of Love for him ,just the same kind of Love he had for Elvis Presley ,daughter ,Lisa

Elvis The Movie 1:25 did not get awards it deserved, it was excellent. Typical the best movie did not win. Austin is so talented, I hope he gets what he deserves and works hard.

Great performance, loved the movie, but Austin did not do “most” of the singing himself. He did the young Elvis singing- very well!- but starting in the 1960s portion of the film, it’s all archival recordings of Elvis himself. As great as Austin is, there’s only one Elvis especially his voice.
Austin did a great job, but people who are saying he should have won the Oscar should watch Whale once. It was Brendan Fraser and he nailed it!

@janetbrown1490 I was only saying that Austin Butler's voice was used for the 50s songs in the movie and Elvis' voice was used for the rest of the movie.
@@janetbrown1490 Austins birthday is the same as mine, Aug 17th 1994 (Im 1965 tho) its also technically the day of Elvis' passing on his death certificate but it happened late at night on the 16th 1977. I remember hearing it on the radio when I was 12. A very significant 2 days for Austin forever now. and Lisa died 2 day after Elvis' birthday on Jan 8th. Weird coincidents....

Hes got Masters of the Air mini-series coming out on Apple TV, Dune pt 2 next year, and The Bikeriders also next year. Id say hes working pretty hard to ćapitalize'on his success. Besides all the teenager stuff, he also played Tex Watson in Quentin T, Once upon a time in Hollywood a few years back. His work ethic is strong, Id say!

They met. Per Joe Esposito who was Elvis’s road manager, they met on a movie set. It was pleasant. Nothing came of it. She was 34 and he was 25 at the time.

If the actor played Elvis as well as you say, then Elvis wasn't special so others could play like him, and Elvis' original voice wasn't even used. The actor sings the songs. I thought Elvis had the most beautiful voice in the world...
