- This was such a fun piece to work on knowing it would go in my daughter’s room. It was especially fun to have her help a little along the way.🥰
As always, participating in one of the challenges Lisa from @ivylane-home does is so much fun! Be sure to check out her video with her piece and all the challenge pieces if you haven’t yet. While I would’ve loved to have been in top 3, the finalists choices were well deserved!

This came out perfect! I appreciate those older pieces… they’ve traveled through time and get a fresh touch years later to continue being utilized. Old and new craftsmanship - I’m glad you kept a lot of the original character. It turned out great.
Thank you, Julieann! I agree. I love thinking about its possible history - who has owned it, what it’s been through and seen or heard, etc.😍
You did a nice job bringing back the charm and beauty of this piece. I hope more young people learn to appreciate the style, history and craftsmanship of antiques. 👍
@@RosalieFunkthank you! I do, too. Their charm and craftsmanship are unmatched to what can be found today.
I change my mind a million times when I am working on my project. You’re not the only one. Great job on your project. I hope you win. Good luck
I’m glad I’m not the only one!😅 Thanks so much! I actually didn’t win or make the top 3, but the finalists were some really beautiful pieces! Lisa has her video out that features all of them, including the winning piece. I meant to link it in my description but will now.
This is a dainty beauty in all its' details. Am glad to see your daughter be part of the video and process. Thank you from first time viewer.
@@nancyanneberg403thank you so much for watching and commenting! It is such a dainty beauty. It turned out perfect for my daughter’s room, and I love that she was able to help.😊
That turned out so well! The lighter color really suits the piece! You always do such great work! It was fun seeing her learn with you on her own dresser! You're making precious memories! ❤
Thank you, Julee! I am so happy with how it turned out, too, and I hope that she will enjoy remembering getting to work on it.🥰 I hope you have a wonderful week!
I absolutely love how this turned out! It's just so natural and beautiful, the neutral color goes well with anything. Your daughter did amazing, I'm really impressed by how fast she caught on! She's a natural, probably takes after her momma! 😊
Thanks, Christine! I agree about its natural beauty. I love seeing it every time I go into her room.
Thank you. She's definitely seems to have a knack for it.🥰
Your videos are so relaxing to watch! Your transparency makes it so inviting for people wanting to learn. The dresser turned out beautiful! 💕 I can’t wait to see the bed!
Thank you, Wendy! I’m often told I give off a relaxing vibe. I have never been super emotive.😆
I’m excited to get going on her bed! I know she’d like to have her mattress up off the floor.🫣
This came out great and your daughter did a great job too 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks, Andrea! I’ll tell her you said that!🥰
Super cute!! Can’t wait to see the headboard and the room when you’re finished 👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks, Leslie! I’m excited to get to do it and show you!
Looks great! So sweet that your daughter helped with her new dresser!
Thank you, Ellen! I really enjoyed that, too. Makes it extra special.😊
I love the way it came out. The wash was perfect.
Thank you so much!💜
I am working on a similar piece and wasn't sure about paint washing it. Seeing how nicely yours turned out helped me decide to use your technique. Boy, that oak is hard to get totally sanded and stripped, the grooves really hold on to that old finish.
Oh I love that it inspired you to do the same! I hope you love it! It really did hold onto that old finish pretty tightly. It’s great to have a hard wood to work with but then it has its challenges.😅
And you can always do like I did and just paint wash one section to make sure you like it before proceeding with the rest of the piece.
Such a cute piece! And I appreciate you saying and pointing out you wore your mask. It is so important and I see so many not take it seriously! Though I would still recommend wearing a respirator with the stripper. Even if it is a lighter or eco product, it is still an aggressive chemical. Love that your daughter helped you ❤
Thank you! Yes, I agree that it is surprising how many don’t wear theirs consistently, especially with how much exposure we have as refinishers. Appreciate the suggestion to still wear mine with the eco friendly stripper.🩷
Thank you - I love that she got to help, too!
Great job, I love that look!
Thank you, Barbara! It turned out better than I had hoped!🙌
Looks gorgeous 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!!😊🩷
Love it!❤
Thanks, Joy! Glad you do, too!🙌
I love it. Nice job.
Thank you so much, Heather! I’m so happy with how it turned out and love that I’ll get to continue to enjoy it in my own home.😊
Beautiful job! Your garage work space looks just like mine! 😊When you use sprayer in there, how do you keep spray off of everything?
Thanks, Karen! You mean like a hot mess?!😂🤣 I only have protection on the ground typically, so I have a lot of overspray on things against the wall.🙈 I plan to do a curtain setup where I can just pull them across when I want to spray. It seems to be an easy project; I just need to get the supplies and do it.
Do you have a setup you like?
@ I could really use a bigger space! Hard to work straddling the lawn tools! 😅 I try to spray when I can set up the spray tent on driveway but weather really limits when I can do it. Spraying Inside the garage would be great!
@@KarenBorishahaha yes that makes it a bit challenging. I had a spray tent but I find it easier to not deal with setting it up each time. Lots of people use and love them tho!
I think you daughter will have this forever!!
Do you ever use Oxalic acid to bleach the inconsistencies?
Thank you! I hope so!
You know, I just saw someone doing that in a video this past week I was watching about oxalic acid. It would’ve be great to try on the stains of this one. I’ve only used it on water rings before.
@Restorations.by.Rachel I've just gotten an entire kitchen worth of custom solid oak cabinets on Facebook Buy Nothing!! Going to use oxalic on them & whitewash them like you!
😉saying Goodbye to my 80's cabinets!!
I’m trying to get into furniture fixing!😊
I love it! I hope you do, too!
I have a hard time even starting a project because I can’t decide what I want to do and I’m afraid I’m gonna do something I don’t like. Once I get started I usually stick to the plan. But that’s because I have over thought it 1 million times. LOL
It look good
Thank you!!
I change my mind sometimes, but I would have used oxalic acid on it to whiten it up
That’s a great option! I think I’m going to use it on a custom client refinish of chairs and a table.
Love furniture flapping
It is so rewarding!😍
Hi Rachel
Hi! Appreciate you watching!
Bleach it
That could’ve worked, too!👍

I can understand that. I have a tendency to overthink as well. If I’m stuck on a plan, I try to find similar styles of the piece for inspiration, and that usually gets my creative juices flowing.
