Would help if it was on Netflix amazon prime or bbc iplayer. Remembered this series recently so wanted to watch but you have to buy each season, and with only 6 episodes per season, as good as they are, it's just Not worth it and I know how good it is! Needs to be available to stream to get more recognition as many don't even know it ever existed.

I see him with a very tight Yamaha system, verging on studio monitors, with some mid-range room treatment - he doesn't want to go the whole hog; no point with Mags and Janet flanking him on the sofa, breaking up the audio reflections with their sheer presence.
I reckon someone like him would have ended up with a load of old underwhelming 70's Japanese gear, thinking its the absolute last word in hifi greatness. Definitely someone who lingers at hifi shops picking up brochures, but never buying.

I too was wondering about his motive. I think it was an excuse to massage his own ego with a store expert. Clearly, he met his match and got humiliated (“you wouldn’t measure high frequency that way ”)
Hoppy.... If you have to "deconstruct" the humourof the skit, "psychological reasoning" of the character's flaws won't get you the answer.! Being aware that the pretentiousness of the character, portrayed so brilliantly, by Coogan, is all that is needed to understand.
