Dear Nora, I just wanted to say thank you (again) for bringing back Grandpa's music. Listening to you play this brings me back to moments as a child on his farm, with family gatherings and such wonderful music. I just want to send you a big hug and say THANK YOU! It makes my heart swell to hear you play this so eloquently. Grandpa would have been beside himself to hear you play this the way you do. You are so appreciated. I can imagine others feel the same way about your talent when you share their works. Stay the course.
I just cannot believe how good you are. I hope all this flattery doesn't go yo your head, I'm sure it won't,, but to my mind you are one of the three most exquisitely beautiful banjo players I've ever heard, and in 85 years I've heard a lot! Black Jake of Norwich, England.
Jesus she's growing up so fast. Like others have said can't wait til we can knock this pandemic down and see Nora in person up on stage running some headlines with more juggernauts of the genre.
This is fantastic. I love that blues touch in there. It reminds me of John Fahey's interpretations of old time music in his 60s recordings. Nora is really at one with the soul of this music and where it comes from.
@@guzzlinggusher7066 it’s just not in my nature. At least, I’ve yet to find that thing to bring that out. Talent isn’t something you learn either. I try a lot of things and put in a lot of hours.
It's a way special feeling I get when I listen to this... Note: I play guitar, a musician, and play a completely different type of music. NOTHING to do with this. But some how, you transport me to another place... :-)
Lord - it just gets better and better. I have listened to so many variations on the Lost Gander. The last top one for me was Lukas'. Just found Nora. And it surely exceeded my last top. This is one of those rare tunes as well. So every new generation hopefully keep on reliving it - pushing it to the next notch. Isn't that what humanity is all about - keep on pushing? Or perhaps a better word than pushing is new-ing, reliving, re-giving...
One of the prettiest renditions of WGC / Lost Gander I've heard. I learned it from recordings by Mike Seeger and Stephen Wade but now I'll have to find Virgil Anderson's version. Amazing, Ms Brown.
Nora, the way you play this, you have really made it your own. I love the bluesy bit you have added on the low part. Wery thoughtful and evocative playing. Thank you.
Absolutely perfect ,I love your videos Nora ,your an inspiration and a pleasure to listen to ,I was delighted to find your album on Spotify ,so even when I can't watch your video I can listen to your music while I work you are one to watch ,I can't wait to see more from you
Stunning. *Edit* I've been playing a banjo for a year now, learning. I will never be able to make a banjo sound like this. The more I try, the more I admire this.
Ms Brown is a scholar on a par with the Lomax Brothers in the early 20th century... Jerold Paxton is another serious scholar of this really important music that carries forward through the oral tradition of story telling.. and 👀.. dancing our sorrow away.. listen 🎶 she is telling you about the people who came before
Check the banjo hangout-discussion on virgil anderson. I can't read banjo tabs, too complicated. I need notes, as I play the whistle. So, let me know if you can decode it for me :)

As a Brooklynite, it blows my mind that Nora took to this music. She may be the hippest teenager in Brooklyn!!
Great two finger thumb lead. How can I get more of your playing? Can I get your tab for this song?
Do you have a link to your site?
I haven't been this jealous of a teenage girl since i was one! Such magical and inspiring talent

I just discovered Nora. I almost *never* binge watch a new find. Nora is a rare find... and yes, I'm binging! :-)
Of all the things to come out of Brooklyn.Hip hop/ nets/ etc
A breath of fresh air.
Bless you Nora 🪕🪕🪕🪕🪕
Perfect accompaniment for a daydream. Just planted my porch-climbing beans here by the Blue Ridge, …. Appalachian Spring.

Fabulous 2 finger work. I'm a two finger as well. Clawhammer mostly though.
Nice!
Simply beautiful 1:29
I think banjo is my favorite instrument. I want to learn how to play before I die.
Soft like a feather, warm like the sunlight. ❤
Lovely Music 🎶 ❤️ 🎶

I wish I had a quarter of the talent and the passion for something, that this young artist has.
Then stop being a bum and go after it, you can do it!

@@guzzlinggusher7066 I do. I’m recognizing the raw gift that this girl has in her soul. Few get those gifts.

Heartfelt, and elegantly visceral playing from the inside out. Punchy and feather light.

I just discovered Nora, would like to say how soulful and beautiful you sound making the banjo sing

Great old time 2 finger picking style banjo playing...keep up the good work Nora! 😊👍👍
So glad to have discovered this special young person
I am determined to learn the banjo, and you are my inspiration! I love your touch and style, so relaxed, so intuitive, and soulful.
One word,,,Perfect
What lovely playing by a lovely young woman.
Wow awesome rendition.

Beautiful. I always wonder what tunings you are using in these videos.
When this virus is finally over, I'd love to hear Nora jam with Molly Tuttle, Billy Strings and/or Rhisnnon Giddens
was literally just contemplating her and Tuttle jamming, I'm sure it'll happen at some point
so... it's a whole different kind of music.. this is historical music from the mountains.. at the most fundamental level.. it's not bluegrass
