For people that are just now watching this video, the side by side feature is already in Lightroom CC
Thats good to know! Thanks for the update !
I honestly can't seem to find this feature and google has not been helpful - is it called something different?
Thank you!
Thanks for the help Will! Your video helped me make my decision.
Totally! Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for clearing things up!!
anytime :)
works as it should, thank you friend!
great!
Wow. Confusing...but you cleared it all up. Thanks!
Yeah man! All that matters is you get the edits you want!
Great recap, thank you so much
No problem :)
Thanks for the knowledge bro !
You got it!
Very helpful!! Thank you! Like you, I was using LrC never knowing there even was LrCC or Lr or LrCCC++CmobileCloud. This video helps because I just loaded what I thought was the Lightroom that I'm used to only to find it far too different, so it's back to LrC for me.
Ha! I feel your pain 😂 we will call it the “cycle of Lightroom’s” 😂😂
Lightroom Classic has color calibration and Lightroom (cloud) does not. To me, not having color calibration is a HUGE shortcoming of Lightroom (cloud).
I totally agree, Lightroom CC definitely has some disadvantages. Crazy to think that major editing tool isn’t on it.
I Might be jumping the gun here but Lightroom CC (cloud-based app) does have the Color Calibration Panel. Its not open by default you have to sort of click to view it. I could post a screen Short here but I don't see any options to do so. The phone app doesn't have I checked.
Thank you for your kind patience jeje ...enjoyed your video 😁
No problem :)
You were very helpful thanks 🙏
No problem :)
Thank you very much this works very well
You’re very welcome :)
finally someone explained it so clearly
glad i could help :)
Clearly????
I work as a photographer for a large company, travel fairly often. I then bring my MacBook Pro, and back at the office I have an iMac. The iMac is much better to edit on bc of the screen size, but on the go I need my laptop, and since I also have the opportunity to work from home once or twice a week I need my laptop. That's why Lightroom (the cloud based one) is a better fit. I would like to use the original version, but I need to have the images available at all times.
I take photos with the intent of not having to edit too much, so the Lightroom (again, cloud based one) is enough I think.
So which one to choose is not only based on "taking family photos" or "just click, click here and there". After processing the photos I export them, and all the albums can be exported with raw(+settings) to a external hard drive and free up space. I haven't ran out of space yet!
That’s awesome! And for sure, everyone has specific things here and there that will make the choice different. this is just a basic coverage point.
work 100000% thanks dude...
Nice! You’re welcome :)
Great video, at last I understand!
Thats great!
Trying to help my daughter as a starting photographer. I just now learned any differences since it has been a while and my older imacs had lightroom...err...LRC. So I am used to a hard drive base. I really could not imagine being dependant on an internet connection. Anyway, thank you for easily explaining this.
You’re welcome! I have tons of starter videos as well for beginner photographers. If you click videos on my main page then go to bottom you’ll see a lot.
Thanks bro
yep!
thank you bro ı love you
Hahha you’re welcome dude!
Gracias!
De nada
Any thoughts on hardware and if proccesing power in lightroom cc come from your local device of a cloud server? Trying to understand if i am mobile and editing on a samsung tablet if i am losing anything because of the more limited hardware. Thanks
the processing comes from a mix of the Lightroom program and your computer processing. If you're mainly working from the cloud than internet speed will add to the editing speed as well.
Hello and thank you for the video. I have been using LR5 up to now. Just bought a new camera and now will have to go to a LR subscription plan so I can continue to edit RAW files. My question is, does the current LR cloud based,(what I call LR "light") support RAW files from camera, just as "clastic" does?
Thank you in advance for any answer on that.
They both support RAW format editing. Its just a matter of storage. Lightroom CC (light as you call it) uses Cloud based storage and you have to pay additional for that once you reach capacity. Lightroom Classic uses your computer storage or external Hard drive storage so you dont have to pay for cloud storage.
@@willsimpsonphoto Thank you Will. Your prompt response is much appreciated. Now I just have to decide whether it is worth saving 10 bucks for the "light" version as opposed to using what I am used to with the classic. Too bad they only sell the classic bundled with the PS @ 20 USD.
hahaaha nicely put there, simple. i loved the stress on "...notepad..!!!" can so relate to it :P
hahah excellent!
gracias buen hombre :)
No problem :)
Hi, I have only had a "real" camera for a few months and would like to try bracketing and focus stacking.
I bought Lightroom CC (monthly subscription) but can't find the bracketing and focus stacking option, do I need Classic for these options?
Many thanks
David
classic has an HDR merge feature where you select 2+ photos and it will merge them to make them one HDR photo. I do not know if this is on Lightroom CC.
However for bracketing, remember to take 2+ photos at different exposures and focal points to get the appropriate information for merging the photos together.
Basically this technique with 1 photo at different focus and exposure points: th-cam.com/video/n30lvsAr1gM/w-d-xo.html
For focus stacking you need to send the files to Photoshop as layers, this feature is only available in Lightroom Classic sadly.
What’s the difference between LR on iPad and mobile. When I downloaded them, there is a separate subscription fee. Do this include healing and all other presets when you subscribe? I am truly confused. Thank you.
Lightroom mobile is the app that is used on tablet/iPad and phone. It is $4.99/mo for the full version which includes presets and masking. The free version doesn’t include those features.
If you have a subscription with Adobe, photographer package (LR and PS) or creative cloud, you have Lightroom Mobile full version for free. You just have to log in using your account. But that plan is not required for just LR mobile.
Hope this helps.
So, for my amateur use (my family, my animals, trips/vacations etc) an iPad will be just fine ?
Probably. Lightroom Mobile is really good. Just depends on how comfortable you are with it over editing on a computer.
Literally subscribed after “are you a brrrrr picture taker” 😂😂😂
lol! perfect! Happy we can relate 😂
Are there any known quality loss issues when transferring photos to let’s say Pixieset between the two?
I use pixieset and i havent noticed anything. I export the photos and then upload them to pixieset. Have had no issues.
Like your video, like you , music, while at a low level, distracted. I kept hearing thing which I thought were in my background. You get the like 😉
Hahha good to know! I keep playing with the music in every video to try and get it so it handles the quiet times but not be a distraction. I’ll keep tweaking 😁
@@willsimpsonphoto congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds.
Its taken me forever to find this answer! Thank you! So my big question right now is: How do i turn on preset recommendations in LRC? Preset recommendations are easy to use in LR...Help! My intention is to use LRC not LR.
Thats a very interesting feature in LR that I was not aware of lol. I make/use/sell my own presets so I dont really look for others. That recommendation thing is pretty cool but it is not an option on LRClassic. Here's a video I did that kind of goes over Presets in LRc and how to create and use one. It also walks you through creating one for you to have: th-cam.com/video/susH_GWTg5Y/w-d-xo.html
@@willsimpsonphoto and I totally heard what you said about not relying on the presets, I am using them as a guide mostly but it's easy to select one that is close then tweak it then save it. I will definitely be checking out your channel a bit more❣️📸
I have never used the cloud based Lightroom or any online storage, I use lightroom classic ($10/Mo) I comes with so many background processes that my windows 10 system is unusable for anything unless I disable them all. BTW they restart everytime I use lightroom to view or edit any photos. Additionally, it will not even install on my windows 7 system where I am still running lightroom 5 and i works great.
Damn that’s pretty crazy. All kinds of work arounds lol
@@willsimpsonphoto $10 /mo No workarounds should be needed
So.....I only edit on my laptop. I only shoot raw. A typical shoot (classical concert) is about 60 to 100 pics. Best for me to choose lightroom classic?
Personally I would choose LrC. But I’m very partial since it’s all I use and works amazing. I’m not the biggest fan of Lr Cloud
I've subscribed to Lightroom from apple store . if I want to use Lightroom classic ,how can I? can I continue with the subscription in Lightroom classic?
that is Lightroom Mobile from the app store. That doesnt get you Lightroom CC or Classic. You need to go through Adobe and get Lightroom CC/Classic. I believe it is $9.99/mo but it also includes LR Mobile so you can cancel your one through Apple Sub.
I dont understand the cloud part? Is it 100 gb a month free then? If you go over, you have to pay
correct. They give you 100GB storage, then itll probably prompt you that your storage is full and give you the upgrade offer.
@@willsimpsonphoto oh ok thank you
I'm still trying to figure out lightroom for samsung in this whole realm. I'm guess it's just web based but at a cheaper cost
You mean on the phone? That’s Lightroom Mobile
@willsimpsonphoto yeah when buying a Samsung product (S23 or 24 ultra/ computer/ tablet) you get a 2 month trial then it's like 4.99+ tax a month. You can edit on phone, tablet and I've the web application too. Thank you, after watching your video it was making sense that's its lightroom mobile
They really need to rethink this. I prefer the cloud based but I also do prints. And there’s no intuitive way to send photos from Lightroom to classic. I absolutely hate it.
yeah its definitely got some working out to do.
If you find/have found a way please let me know!
@@Sol-Chain right now I have a Lightroom Classic folder that I export DNGs from Lightroom CC into, then I’d import to LRC from that folder. It’s still a mess, and sometimes I’d re-add the photos by accident but it works.
no dual monitor on lightroom CC
Oh no kidding? Good to know! Another ✅ for LR Classic 😂
I just purchased “Lightroom Photo & Video Editor“ as an in-app purchase on my iPhone (Lightroom mobile premium effectively), because I wanted to edit raw photos on iPhone/iPad.
The weird thing is that the Lightroom app on my MacBook works fine as well now, I can import and edit raw photos without a problem. Is that a glitch?
The one on your mac, is it Lightroom classic or Lightroom CC or is it just the app? When you get Lightroom mobile, you now have the app on other devices as well.
If you get Lightroom classic? Through the photographer package on Adobe, you get Lightroom cc, classic, mobile and photoshop.
@@willsimpsonphoto On my Mac, the app is called ''Adobe Lightroom'' which I got directly from the App Store. Before I activated premium on my iPhone I could not do anything in the lightroom app on my Mac, it said I had needed a subscription after which I was forwarded to Adobe's website with the standard plans to choose from (this mobile premium one was not there).
I'm not complaining, I hope it's a feature and I can keep using lightroom on my Mac because it syncs perfectly with iPhone and iPad as well.
my biggest worry is that I run out of the 1TB space. then what? will I be downloading it all for a month to file it away? why even bother with it?
Yeah that’s my exact reasoning for why I just started straight with Lightroom classic and use external HDs. 🤷♂️
lightroom CC is Garbo, lightroom classic is Insane. Got it
Hahaha I didn’t say it, you did 😜😂
Couldn’t get past three minutes with that horrible discordant “music”. Probably just me but I don’t understand why so many TH-camr think it cool. Too me, just distracting and I can’t listen to it.
Totally understood. I’ve been playing around with the music in other videos to find the balance and I honestly find it getting lower and lower lol
@@willsimpsonphotoThanks for the reply. Tried the video agai with the same result - just an’t listen to whatever you have in the background. It’s no the volume the is most distracting but the discordant unnatural pumping sound the certainly isn’t music. I truly am trying to be helpful. Stick with something that sound like music.
Would lightroom mobile premium be worth it as an average user? 16% off deal for one year subscription so it's $53 after tax for the whole year.
If it’s the only editing thing you use I would say yes because it’s definitely better than the default phone editors. And $53 isn’t bad at all.
If i get the lightroom mobile premium can i get an access to desktop aswell?
@@Quezztionn no both the PC and mobile are two separate applications they're the same but they're not cross compatible
