I really like how she doesn’t ’complicate’ the editing process. She is humble, extremely successful and approachable. She, and those like her is the side of Hollywood that really makes it worth saving. The more I study her the deeper my respect.
I am absolutely amazed at how these "older" editors, be it Schoonmaker, Michael Kahn, Walter Murch... who blossomed in the 70's alongside great directors, keep changing it up and being incredibly dynamic in the twilight of their lives... It's just awe-inspiring. The love, the passion for the craft... Same goes for great DP's... Long live great film artists. Long live Scorsese.
Great interview. Such a wonderful and sweet lady- well spoken and amazingly talented. Scorsese and Schoonmaker...one of the most fruitful partnerships in the art of cinema. Thank you BOTH for continuing to make awe-inspiring films and your contribution to keeping cinema alive and fresh.
i agree who other director would embrace the new trend of 3D at 70 years old? NON martin scorsese doesnt have to prove anything to anyone at this point and yet he goes with the flow and embraces the changes in cinema. hes an astonishing human being other directors need to follow in his foot steps... his use of 3D made me love 3D because of hugo! and that movie is just a masterpiece in an of itself and he is a true visionary
@echi2567 From the EditShare website: "Academy® and Emmy® award-winning Lightworks was introduced in 1989 as the first and most advanced non-linear editing system on the market and quickly gained fame thanks to editors such as Chris Gill and multi Oscar-winning Thelma Schoonmaker." Stop with the zoom already! For crying out loud. Sit still! Thumbs down on the zoom. Thelma gets five stars. Please focus on the subject's eyes, not her nostrils.

Had the great honor and pleasure of meeting Ms. Schoonmaker years ago. She radiates grace and humility.
Absolutely Brilliant interview... The greatest living editor on the planet... Genius!

Delightful interview, enchanting lady - refreshing to see her in love with movies :)
Yes, Thelma, I've had tears in my eyes many times during editing.
These two interviews you did with Thelma are such a gift.
I like Thelma Schoonmaker and her work so much :)
I idolize this woman.
she's beautiful, such a genius
Thelma has been nominated for 7 Oscars throughout her career. Of those she has won 3; for Raging Bull, The Aviator, and The Departed.
What a beautiful soul she has
Very poor film editor.
@@cubeworksfilms i know, we should hire cube works films instead.

Brilliant..... A master of her art and trade.
Thelma Schoonmaker, I love you!
A what nice interview. She certainly knows her work very well.
Who's the one goofball that gave this the thumbs down?!
A second person also tripped while watching this, I don’t think they noticed their thumb tap the dislike button
a long dose of inspiration
Editing is simple.... if you are passionate for what you see and love every single shot
Incredible woman
You are inspiring Ms. Schoonmaker.
she's my new inspiration
I never had feelings I like rodolph but he is married by respect as sonographer and radiologist like him

I'm about to give it a thumbs down.. I wish the camera would stop pulling in and focusing shits annoying.
She needs to learn something else, maybe cooking or washing dishes. Editing is not her cup of tea. She is a terrible editor.
You are laughable. Thelma is a LEGEND. And you are a nameless anonymous nobody on TH-cam
@@jordancooke5980 you can laugh whenever you want. It usually happens with her films. Poor woman.
@@cubeworksfilms She is a multi Oscar winner and you're a losers loser.
@@cubeworksfilms we can't all be cube works films. you have a standard of perfection we can never share.
