The best part of this is you are usually not eligible to get a mortgage due to your credit score but somehow you can pay the same or even higher monthly payments for your rent. 👏
I work in property management. The state I live a Credit report is required. You credit score on a mortgage largely effects your interest rate vs borrowing amount
@@User-54631 sounds like an excuse. If I can pay $1900 for rent I should be given a $1400 mortgage easily. Especially if I've shown consistently over years to pay on time everytime.
@@User-54631 ya sure, but if you are a fresh immigrant or someone who never actually needed to build credit, you’d get filtered by the system when you apply for a mortgage. You might get the same checks for renting from a property management company but there you have more of a check of financial failures ( like bankruptcies etc ) therefore it makes it easier to go for renting if you are just starting your life.
@@georgeford6506 how much you putting down? Debt to income ratio? The bank will view it as Person A puts 50k of his money down Person B puts 5k down. The bank views it as person A is more likely to not walk away cause they got 50k in the fight vs person B who doesn’t even have a used car in the fight. Housing is timing. I bought my first house in CA In Medium size city making 12/hr in 2011 for under 100k lived there 5 years sold it and made almost 200k moved to a major city used the money I made for a down on a new home. Which putting so much down. The payment on a 400k home would be less then a 2 bed apartment. Then I refinanced during the pandemic and put in a pool. My house payment is less then a 2 bedroom apartment in the city I live. For context if your rent is 1900 you paying a lot more then me. and I have a 4 bedroom house with a in-ground pool in a decent neighborhood
Yes of course, you can rent month to month with bad credit which is high risk for the owner, otherwise why would a bank give you a 20-30yr loan without credit? A lower payment does nothing to guarantee your employment.
The issue is that either the renter or the owner must in some way pay insurance and property taxes if they want a "permanent roof" with utilities like electricity, gas and water. Because of this, many people-at least in California, where I currently reside-are living in tents. No taxes, rent, mortgages, or insurance. The number of people who tell me they live in their car that I meet amazes me. Its crazy out here!
It’s getting wild by the day. The prices of homes are quite ridiculous and Mortgage prices has been skyrocketing on a roll(currently over 7%). Sometimes i wonder if to just invest my spare cash into the stock market and wait for a housing crash or just go ahead to buy a home anyways.
I get such worries too. I'm 50 and retiring early. Already worried of the future and where its headed, especially in terms of financies and how to get by. I'm also considering making my first investment in the stock market, but how can I do so given that the market has been in a mess for the majority of the year?
For you to grow your portfolio in today's market, you really need to be coachable and willing to get off your high horses. I for example, have managed to grow mine from $150k to 300% of my initial deposit within the past 8 months just by copying trades from a broker that has better skillset and technical know-how than me.
Finding financial advisors like Annette Marie Holt who can help you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.
My grandma's rent went up around 40% and she is on social security. Unfortunately she couldn't afford to live anymore and moved in with my family. Imagine working your whole life just to end up homeless. What a damn shame.
If we don't build more housing we'll end up like in 1850 when an entire extended family would all share one communal house, four people per bed, sleeping in opposing orientations.

I knew a church fanatic fellow who would rent -to -own to hard working foreigners chasing a dream. Ah yes, the rent vs buy decision I’ve been trying to figure out for years. The rental income vs mortgage payment calculation never made sense to me. But this is much more logical and makes far more sense. Thank you for simplifying this!
Most people are unable to handle a fall since they are accustomed to bull markets, but if you know where to look and how to get around, you can profit handsomely. It depends on your entry and exit strategy.
The fact that the US stock market had been on its longest bull run ever makes the widespread worry and enthusiasm understandable given that we are not used to such unstable markets. As you pointed out, it wasn't tough for me to earn over $780k in the last 10 months, so there are chances if you know where to go. I hired a portfolio advisor since I was aware that I needed a solid and trusted plan to survive these trying times.
I tried looking into new strategies to profit in the current market because my portfolio has been in the dumps for the entire year, but everything I tried just seemed to miss the point. Please let us know who your asset manager is by name.

Me and a friend got a apartment when we were in our early 20's that was a little over $750 a month. Literally a few months later the apartments got bought by another company and we got a notice saying two bedroom apartments would now cost over $1300 a month. And there are people wondering why kids still live with their parents well into their 30's.
Affordable housing doesn’t even account for people who are working with decent jobs and literally are still paying 50% of their income in rent. Edit: I didn’t think this comment would get this many likes so it comforting to see that a lot of you all agree with my observation. I’d also like to address a lot of the comments that assume that I even made this comment about myself or I am “living above my means”… the people that I am referring to are not paying 2400 for a swanky one bedroom in downtown. They are paying 2400 for a old, run down, white appliances barely unkept one bedroom with zero amenities and no utilities ….I’m seeing a lot of assumptions which is a huge part of the issue in first place.
True, in California, more than 40% of millenials are still living with their parents, 16% are living in overcrowded conditions, 12% are commuting more than an hour each way every day, and basically everyone is rent burdened. This is a housing shortage, and nothing will help except legalizing building dense urban transit oriented apartments.

What really pisses me off about the housing crisis is how these companies continuously keep building apartment complexes that the average person cannot afford with one job. @@heyheytaytay My point is the elderly contributed to this country in some form or fashion and so this country should take care of the elderly especially if they need it. On a side note 3 categories of people that I think should be taken care of in this country are 1)the elderly- they contributed to this country, 2)the military- they protect this country and 3)children- they're the future of this country. Now how they should be taken care of can be discussed but in my opinion those 3 should be top priority.
@@heyheytaytay man if they’re old they’ve definitely worked and contributed enough already. 75 years of work is enough to get off for a while. In addition, many elderly people are now disabled and thus can’t work. That’s why retirement exists lol. The question is why the living hell aren’t they getting any money for rent.
I worked 60 yrs. I am 94 yrs. old. I live in a 1 b/r apt. in Plano, Tx. My RENT is 68% of my Soc. Sec. Check. I had to give up Cable, sell my Vehicle, (could not afford the Insurance and Mtn. on it). It is difficult to maintain a signal on my cell phone because the cell phone tower has been relocated. Strongest signal I can get is one bar. I keep the phone on a table next to a window in order to pick it up. Because I live on the first floor and there are blgs. in front of my apt. It is a flip phone not a smart phone. I also have to pay the electric bill also. Texas is the only state in the Union not connected to the National Grid. Thank goodness North Dallas has a FOOD BANK where there is FOOD available for Seniors.
Social Security should pay all retirees equally. I retired at 64 and get a check for $2,275. Because I bought my house for cash before I retired (in CA with our Prop 13 protection), my monthly bills are less that $1275 including food, utilities, insurance, and everything so I have plenty left every month. But what makes my contribution to society as a worker more valuable than someone who worked hard for 60 years but who only gets a $1500 check? That should be fixed. Whether you're an M.D. or a Garbage Collector, both of those jobs are necessary and should be rewarded in retirement equally imho.
The "National Grid" is only in the NE part of the US and Texas is part of the SW. You pay about 40% less for electric than the people who buy from the National Grid. Cell service is spotty in the US since we are so large. I own my own home in California and I only have 1 bar cell phone.

When you got people working full time jobs and no out of ordinary circumstances or expenses who cannot afford to buy or rent any home on the market, something is seriously wrong.
I was ordering food at Chick-fil-a last week and a 74 year old lady asked me to buy her a meal. She was living in a very small car without a bumper. She pulled out her drivers license to confirm her age. I purchased her meal and gave her $40. I was literally heartbroken 💔 by this encounter.

Yep, and people have been taught to blame the individual by the system so the system can keep exploiting people. All of these people blaming poor people for being poor or the middle class being unable to afford homes are just brainwashed and have had the empathy conditioned out of them and it's sad they can't see it.

Nah the elderly have more homes built for them than for us younger adults. They’re fine. They need to go if anything. They ruined the world for the youth.
I honestly have no words for America right now. My heart breaks for those on a fixed income and I'm only 20 and I wish I could have my own place. They are building so many houses and apartment complexes but they are so expensive. We shouldn't have to be 30 still having roommates because it is impossible to afford a simple roof over our head. It is rife with greed. 1 Timothy 6:10 ESV [10] For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. In my opinion, a housing market crash is imminent due to the high number of individuals who purchased homes above the asking price despite the low interest rates. These buyers find themselves in precarious situations as housing prices decline, leaving them without any equity. If they become unable to afford their homes, foreclosure becomes a likely outcome. Even attempting to sell would not yield any profits. This scenario is expected to impact a significant number of people, particularly in light of the anticipated surge in layoffs and the rapid increase in the cost of living.

When individuals and families want to buy homes, they should be given priority. We're should stop allowing corporations, investment firms, foreign buyers, etc from buying up housing properties. It's ridiculous that they're allowed to drive up both purchase prices and rent. America is supposed to be for the people, but it's clearly not.
I absolutely agree!! There are sharks in my town in MO. When a basic older house goes up for sale it almost never gets sold to one of the many families waiting. It’s almost always to someone that owns 3-4 rental homes already. They buy it throw a sign on it and rent it out for $1,500. Private sales is where it has went wrong. Well at least I think so. Things would be much better if the showing, bidding, and purchase were public. I believe people would be more willing to sell their home to another family standing there rather than some guy with a nice suit. It boils down to community. As a homeowner myself, I would rather sell to a new married couple with dreams to fill rooms or a family with children already. I wouldn’t waste my time with the guy that’s just seeing dollar signs.
Absolutely. There are mega sized property management companies that are paying all cash for properties so they can own them, and buying up many in an area, so they can essentially set the price on them for rent, and they are also out competing people trying to buy a family home they want to live in. Owner/residents are more engaged in communities and their neighborhood. Nothing against renters, because I was one until age 32, but home owners have roots. The longest I lived in a rental was 4 years. Most place I renter were 1 or 2 years max and I moved a lot because of my job. We need a cap on the number of homes that can be owned by absentee buyers in an area.
So my question is if say a generous billionaire came and bought property and lowered rent cost around the areas would all rent prices be force to go down
The tax for owning housing that you're not living in should be very high after you own more than 10 private dwellings and the corporate structure in which companies own other companies to open up a loophole should also be fixed
One of the big things that need to be fixed is the "grey" area that a lot of low income people fall into including myself. That "grey" area being, you work making minimum wage or close to it, but you make too much to qualify for any assistance but you fall into the "grey" area of you make too much for help but make to little to be able to afford rent. The jobs that have better wages are in the city or just outside it, but the rent in those areas are to high to afford so you have to live 50 + miles away to afford anything, but then if you don't own a car you can't get to the city to make more money to afford your cheaper rent 50 miles away and there is no public transportation that far out, and any jobs in the areas where rent is affordable don't pay enough to pay for the rent. If you do own a car the gas is too $$ to be able to drive 100 miles a day. So what do people that fall into this "grey" area supposed to do? This actually pushed me into being homeless for about 4 years, and it wasn't until a crazy homeless guy attacked me from behind and pushed me into on coming traffic, and only then, while I was in the hospital recovering from surgery, did I start to receive any help. And that was only because I was homeless and needed to go someplace other than the hospital to recover for 8 months, and the hospital was not allowed to just put me back on the streets with the extent of my injuries. So it took me almost getting killed to get help...this is not the way it's supposed to be.
It’s terrible that you had to go through all this terrible events. That said, I am an immigrant. I came to this country to work hard 40 years ago. After many years of saving money, I bought a townhouse. Then I always saved to spend on education. I know that not everyone is cut out to go to school. But we are all good at something. Follow your passion and give it 100%. You can accomplish anything in life.
Is it possible for you to learn a skill that can pay you more? Something you can freelance. E.g. if you can learn to repair something & there's a market for that in your area. Perhaps there's a skill you could learn in 3-6 months, that can pay $25+ per hour or service, that could be a start towards improving your situation, even if they're small improvements
It's crazy to me seeing all of these people struggle across the nation with rent, food, gas, bills and not see their incomes increasing at these rates, all the while every new car dealership is selling at premiums, boats, UTV's and recreational vehicles, rolexes, porsches, pools etc are all sold out or selling 30,40,50k above msrp or have waitlists. When the gov't pulls out over 10 million affordable housing units to shelter the border crossers, of course it means prices will go up and more people will become homeless. Who would you rent to? The gov't can pull a world of hurt on anyone who refuses to give up their hotels, motels, apt buildings, and houses to the gov't. Where did you think the millions upon millions of border crossers get their housing from?
@TeNot556 No, the affordable housing can only be priced so high, it's the gov't taking all the affordable housing which increases the prices of the rest of the affordable housing. If you want to get affordable housing and stop the rampant rise in homelessness, you need to close the borders and deport. You need to vote more wisely since you vote for everything that you're complaining about. Stop voting for clowns like Biden.
@TeNot556 If you voted for Biden, you voted to housing shortages, he promised it when he said he wanted open borders and that he would never put America first. The only way to fix this is to close the border, deport the tens of millions of people, so the housing market can return to normal. That's just the facts.

I lost my home that I had been renting for almost 10 years at the start of the pandemic. Eviction notice from landlord because he wanted to sell, not because I couldn’t pay rent. Forced into a tiny apartment with higher rent and a one year lease, and when the lease was up last fall every rental was 3X what I had been paying. Hotels are just as bad. Been “living” in my vehicle for 4 months, doesn’t feel like living feels like drowning. Eventually greedy bastards will get what’s coming to them- their overpriced properties will sit empty because the average middle class workers (majority of us) can’t afford rent

One of the many problems is, but specifically to this: It doesn't matter if a house sits empty. Just the land is an guaranteed increase year-over-year on "investment".
It's already happening near me. There are sold homes here that just sit empty for months or years either because they were bought to launder money or because they are now renting at sky high prices.
I own a few properties in Iowa and one in Pensacola FL. Never raised rent on a tenant or charged for application fees or late fees. Always gave the full deposit back. I try to not stress people financially especially if they are college students or have kids. In return the leave my property in better shape than I gave it to them. I could have made a few thousands more squeezing every penny out of them, but the sense of reward I get by treating them like humans is priceless to me.
Wish there were more people like you. Seems like the only way the majority of landlords will ever behave like you is only when the system forces them to, not out of their own hearts.
Getting my deposit back, has always been hit or miss for me. I remember one time, I really tried hard to get the full deposit back. I went all out and cleaned everywhere and made sure everything was working correctly. I only got back 40% of my deposit. Not sure what I did wrong? I live in third world... but you live here like a king with the money you just survive in nazi usa. Whats makes you soooo miserable is that EVERYBODY wants to live in nazi usa increasing NATIVES cost of living.
Probably the biggest problem is property taxes. Property taxes should not be linked to the price of a home. Your house increases in value X%, your property taxes increase while the services the town provides stay the same.
What cracks me up is the people in these rental offices will look you dead in the face and say you must make 3x the rent 😒 I'm like ma'am do you make 3x the rent I get a blank stare 🤦♂️

@@SirenaSpades There are section 8 people here in Raleigh NC that can't afford a place here because it's to damn expensive. All the Northerners coming down here are making it unaffordable. It sucks.
This isn't the only issue going on. As a single home rental property owner(had a mortgage) ..I know firsthand how certain laws are set up to protect the occupants, not the owner & when you get a tenant that knows how to work this system it's devastating. We spent 4 years battling a squatters rights eviction. Long story short the bank foreclosed on the property before the occupant was ever removed & we lost everything. It's said that by 2030 90% of all rental properties will be government owned. 🧐
Also, why is NO ONE talking about how Airbnb is taking over areas with vacancy and driving up rent to RIDICULOUS prices? For instance, the city I go to university in has few apartments available. But look on Airbnb and hundreds of apartments are available for months, for thousands of dollars. Out of desperation, I finally messaged a few studio apartment owners in modest yet safe areas of the city to see if they would think about renting to a young graduate student for two years, with a moderate credit rating and good recommendations, and if that would vary prices. The answer was a resounding NO. For the five studio apartments I contacted, all requested $1300 (or more) plus utilities. I'm honestly thinking about moving my things into a temp-controlled storage unit and living in my car until I graduate, and showering at school. I hate feeling like a burden to my Dad. My brother and his husband are working 40+ hours each a week and are also struggling to pay rent-- both highly educated and hard working. At some point, US citizens have to realize that this isn't normal, and we have to be more strict on rent pricing and control on increases. This is ridiculous! We are creating a society that owns nothing!
Go live with your dad. You are his little girl. He should want to help you. You can contribute by doing housework, cooking, etc and help to pay expenses.
Gullible people watch Instagram influencers who claim they make 10k per month with their Airbnb investment. Then everyone starts investing in property thinking they can do the same. Unfortunately not that many people use Airbnb so the gullible investors will soon fail and have to sell at a loss. Get ready for the housing crash and try to save up some cash for a down payment in a couple of years!
I was homeless as a child with my mom I was 10 years old. I’ll never forget it …something like that changes you as a child and your whole life . I’m 32 now and even though I’m financially secure married with kids - I fear homeless everyday. And have flashbacks a lot of what it was like sleeping in a bed of a truck and waking up looking at the sky as my mom drove across town to drop me off at school . I sympathize so much with homeless it hurts me to see people live outside with no home . Although some could be there from drug use mental health no family . It all depends but NO ONE should be homeless
I was homeless at 14 and am about to turn 25 still in the system. Last group home messed me up so bad I lost 10lbs in a matter of weeks and now I'm underweight. I had a section 8 voucher granted to me a year ago but most landlords rejected it because I obviously have no credit score and no rental history. After locating a unit it is still endless levels of beuarocracy to push through. I had to quit working because of how underweight I now am and used all of my savings on extended stay motels. Sometimes at night I catch myself thinking if I should forget the program, the subsidy, the voucher, just disappear. Maybe it's the stubbornness in me but what stops me is the idea that I would be letting them win. Them being the wealthy who are buying up and gentrifyng the land in my home state, California. It would be in their favor to eliminate all people like me and turn the state into one big luxury resort for the world's elite population. Funny thing is, before my health worsened, I was working multiple jobs all in service industry. Supplying their food. And people like me are the only ones who will do it for minimum wage- or less. Do they expect us to live in camps where we are sent out to work and do nothing else? It's already happening with young people, even middle age people still living in group homes or living with FAMILIES of roommates. Not 1 or 2, but multiple couples with children in small apartments. Disgusting conditions.
I bought a 1984 well kept modular home with a 2 car garage on a .65 acre of land. I bought it all the home the land and everything on that land. Only thing that will go up will be my property taxes. I live in a rural area, so property taxes ain't much at all and don't go up very much from previous years. Glad I went this way instead of a mobile park living.
I wrote the director of my job about how most of my coworkers are homeless and how disgusting it is that we arent paid enough to QUALIFY for housing yet we work in Corporate America. Edit: The director claims she forwarded my concerns to the correct departments ro be heard im pretty sure nothing will happen after our most recent confrence.
The director doesn't care so that was just wasted effort on your part. Much like waiving signs or stomping your feet in protest. If you want to do something about it assist in organization of a nationwide strike. A strike where WE the people are willing to make any sacrifice. In order to accomplish our objectives including up to the ultimate sacrifice of death. IF you are unwilling to do what is necessary then keep writing letters to the director instead. This is a common problem IF you want this to change WE ALL need to be willing to do what is required. Sticking to it no matter the cost to ourselves otherwise we will be slaves until the inevitable societal collapse concludes.
I’m in California and we were renting and the landlord decided they were adding $225 onto our monthly rent. We said ok because it’s not like we had another rental to move into. A couple of days later they said they were selling. And that was our 60 day notice. It was only in an email not an actual notice with codes or anything. We are currently sleeping on an air mattress in a family members living room because we cannot afford the outrageous rent prices. It would cost almost $10k just to move out and then we’d have to come up with rent again in another month. We are a family of 4 and work. We make too much for assistance but not enough to live in the current rental market. There are about 80 applications per rental so there is a lot of competition.
its not really the landlords's choice. IF taxes and utilities are increasing either they raise rent or lose money, if most people arent paying rent selling it might be the only way to not lose money
I left LA around 2007 and moved back to my birth state. I visit family regularly but have no desire to move back. In LA from 2002 until I left in ‘07, I was paying about $1000 plus utilities for a 1BR/1BA in KTown before it was hip. I can only imagine what the rent is like now. Add to that, $700 monthly to care for an infant and $400 for aftercare, I worked to keep a roof over the family’s head on a teacher’s salary. It was rough then but seems impossible now. The unhoused pop seems to grow and I could never move back for fear I’d join them.
more and more families are 'moving back in' with each other to save on the outrageous expenses. One of my college friends from 25 years ago moved back in with his mother (partially to take care of her), and his sister followed shortly after. ... If people are willing to sleep on a couch in the basement, and the couch in the first floor livingroom, so be it. As long as it's feasible. My son's landlady forced him to pay extra saying it was either that or she would sell (he's already paying off her mortgage with his rent). I praise God he has somewhere to live for now even though in the same place.
I have two tenants living with me. As a "landlord" I've chosen to raise rent a total of zero times. It's a choice, and it's greed that's keeping us stuck.
@@kingboy280 unfortunately, property taxes go up when some fool buys a property in a neighborhood for more than other properties are valued at. I'm homeless myself and one of the worst feelings I've ever had is the feeling you have at night knowing you don't have anywhere to go or belong. There are certainly resources available to me but with the number of empty homes and apartment units and more being built everyday there is NO GOOD REASON for anyone to be homeless.
You can make $900 the first month, after that if you weigh over 175lbs it's 110 per week. Plenty of homeless folks do sell their plasma but there are a lot of homeless who can't due to lack of identification or drug use or even things such as exposure to hepatitis or HIV. Furthermore I don't think selling your bodily fluids is any kind of fix for the homeless epidemic we have in this country. In the richest nation ever known to written history it shouldn't be an issue for anyone who is willing to make the effort to amend their situation.
@@MissCleo24 there are health issues with donating plasma over time. I am homeless and the people who donated plasma are in the park, pale and listless.
My mom has a mobile/manufactured home but owns the land. We need to talk more about what ownership means in practice because the entire idea that someone can own a home but never own the land, making a big part of ownership nonexistent is outrageous. This is renting when you look at it and they get off free and clear from maintenance on the homes because of this terrible set up.
Perfectly said! I see ads all the time for renting space to mobile home OWNERS. And the land rental is nearly the same as the cost to rent a small apartment. That's not "ownership." It's exploitation. I've lost so much faith in the US.
Slightly off-topic : it's so stupid to divide home ownership and land ownership, what's next, ownership of air above the land? If you don't pay then the owner can legally poison your air? It's the same stupid logic for me.
@@Atemar98 Absolutely! This is what happens when survival needs get commodified. Clean air, drinkable water, safe housing... You get them only if you have enough money to afford them TODAY. Because tomorrow, they'll cost more.

I see by your name perhaps you live in a freer country that the US and therefore you're not familiar with what can be done here. and of yes, if the GVT wants your land, they can dream up a reason to take it.
Americans just don't care until it happens to them. "You should have been smart & made better choices, like me." Then it happens to them, & they say "it's the system, not me". This IS the plan, a nation of renters, not home owners.
Sometimes even when it happens to them they don't care. There is something really wrong with baby boomers and older gen x (over 45). Like fundamentally the number of philistine assholes in that group is incredible.
I think what you say is true. Even if you can pay the monthly payment in one of the homes they are building you are still renting from the bank. One accident or layoff or divorce you lose your place and have to start all over. I just started over at 55 it’s scary.
The Elites at Davos WANT nations of renters. It is all part of the plan ofAgenda 2030. You know, “You will own nothing and be happy”. ☹️😑😒. Go take a look at the World Economic Forum’s website. This is all going as planned. Unfortunately.☹️
You can be a home owner on the cheap(fair) if you're young and willing to work for it. There's lots of videos on youtube on how to buy cheap parcels and construct your own home for sub 100k. If you're older and have some family members to help out you can save alot otherwise find cheap labor where possible.
I’m a teacher and can’t even afford my own place. I have to live with family despite having a college degree, especially given all the inflation. It’s ridiculous.
Canadian investment firms in my area are buying up starter houses (built for younger milennials maybe older folks looking to downsize) and selling them for rent. It's not even evil American companies.
Thanks for sharing this with us. Unfortunately, this is going to get MUCH worse. We have a "gray wave" of "young" senior citizens in the next decade. I'll be one of them. Many of us have very little saved b/c we've helped our kids through over-priced colleges, tried to pay off our OWN student loans and mortgages, taken care of our very elderly parents until death and, had to spend on our OWN health-related issues. I honestly don't know what we can do, especially with present gas prices. I really feel bad for the struggling folks in this video.
And as long as we have politicians who continue to stress this "Green Policy" which does NOT stress sustainable and fair wage employment, nor the idea of "build more" to house our poor and needy. If anything, it only stresses the continued ownership of land that could be reallocated for housing, to billionaires who do NOTHING with it. If anything, the current Democracy in America rewards the wealthy, and punishes the poor with higher rent, fees, and taxes. At this rate the government won't have to worry about a population problem because most of the poor and homeless will die off from lack of decent medical care, suicide, and hopelessness.
Aren't you the same ppl who believe in God, go to church,, pray, pay taxes and read the bible and vote. Fool. I don't feel sorry for you. Why don't you call on god to change it. He loves you.
I've been homeless two times before I was age 30. I have a college degree, was NEVER ON OR hooked on drugs or into bad unhealthy lifestyle. It really can happen to anyone! It's hard to find somewhere safe, affordable and healthy for you to live nowadays. People end up in terrible neighborhoods single moms raising their kids in awful environments bc of the fact they can't find safe housing, and I see all types of stuff up here in NY. Rooming houses have become very popular in wny. It's sad and awful. Luckily I found a home and have not had to manage thru the pandemic without one but I know plenty who are and who have I remember being homeless and it was the hardest thing I have ever been thru. Our homeless are our most vulnerable population. As a previously homeless female I fell victim to many injustices and harm while I was homeless . U really begin to see ppl for who they truly are when u are at their mercy or have to couch surf and u are vulnerable sleeping under a bridge especially if u r a female
There's your problem. "Up here in NY". That is a terrible place to try to live. I bought a 3 bedroom 2 bath house in a nice neighborhood for 154k. Pay 1100 a month for a nice place and that is affordable to me at least. California, the northeast and some other states are ass backwards I'd get out of there or just be helpless and homeless up to you.
Yup most people are 2 paychecks away from being homeless. Hell my income has tripled in the last 5 years and I still can't buy a house where I live because they keep outpacing my income.
This needs to be covered more often. People need to know. It’s completely impossible to buy a home nowadays. It’s really rough. I work so hard, but I’m stuck renting and paying too much for rent. Everyone i know is in the same spot
This is why I humbly and thankfully ride it out in my apartment that’s in a Delapitated Building. we the people are literally running out of options and it’s scary. My mom recently told me I should complain about not having hot water in my kitchen or bathroom sink and I said nope sorry mom I gotta pick and choose when I open a can of worms. I can’t afford to speak up cause I can’t afford nowhere else. Sending so much love to everyone hurting right now, I don’t know you but I love you and am praying for you
I recently had to go back to renting. I'm in shock about how bad it is. Most people that are struggling will often look into renting a trailer to save money. Well the trailers where the same price to rent as a house. They are even selling trailers for what a house sells for. I think that's disgusting.
I brought a unit in New Zealand about a year ago I looked into buying a tiny home it was going to cost me $150000 nzd for the tiny home then another $200000 nzd for land. The unit I brought only cost $200000 nzd. They are not cheap nothing is to be honest! So glad I get on the market though it's crazy times!
OMG, this is really disgusting and I can't imagine living like this, struggling every day. Here in EU is totally different situation...we live slower and calmer and there's no need to become homeless. Here is very common that person who doesn't have a lot of money, rent a room with use of bathroom and kitchen and monthly payment is around 300eur or less (electricity, water etc. already charged in 300eur) I am really sorry for you people 🙏

Yes, contemplating suicide due to what amounts to a "financial death sentence" in this capitalist rat race is not that unreasonable to me personally. The US needs to legalize assisted suicide more than ever for the middle class people tired of being on this hamster wheel going nowhere. Many elderly middle class people will opt for this service, it's the only way out for some.

This is what people exist with day by day moment by moment as a vast majority of this country at best is living pay check to pay check with many living in poverty despite it looking middle class even though that dream died long ago. Before covid that minimum on an national average was $54,000 a year before taxes and has to be well over $60,000 a year with how things are now.
I find this so frustrating. Like there is enough. There’s MORE than enough for every single person on this planet to be fed and housed and have their basic needs for dignity met. There’s so much more than enough. Every day we all sit around and watch greed and incompetence take people’s very lives. Shame on all of us
The problem is not everyone contributes equally. If everyone has everything fair. Than those of us who go above and beyond won't. And eventually nothing. We will all be in the same boat. Capitalism sucks the least out of any economy to ever exist. You have to spend less time looking for ways to save money. And obsess over making money. Profits compound. Before you realize what's happening your jumping wage gaps. There are ways for 15 year old kids in the projects to establish credit without spending hardly any money. Get a buss ticket at 18 and move on. Stop blaming and do something. But naturally not everyone can succeed. Therefore you must earn the privilege to not be a loser. I do however think owning multiple property's is unacceptable. As well as corps owning property's. Gov zoning land that cannot be used for housing. Foreigners buying our land etc. But capitalism doesn't need to go anywhere
Capitalism when left alone literally manages itself by the people in the most efficient way possible. only when government and big corporations swing there dicks around problems arise

My partner and I lived through housing crises in 2 states- Southern Utah and Oregon. We had housing issues due to extremely high numbers of vacation rentals making it impossible to rent complicated by family emergencies. We finally found a place to live by purposefully picking a high-crime area. Just prior to that we had to live in a 100 sq foot travel trailer for 2.5 years. Our space rent ranged from $700-$2000 per month to rent. We still had to make payments on the trailer. There were a few points where the situation was so horrible that death honestly seemed like a better option. It was so awful. We decided to move out of state, and I got an invite to apply for a job that would have changed our lives- in a place a few hours away from where we had been paying space rent. We had already left our paid parking space, and the rent crisis was so bad that there was no where left for us to stay. The hotels were full. There was a historic heat wave and we almost baked to death in the trailer in the middle of a parking lot. 96 people died during that heat wave. I got my job interview during the heat wave. I was able to get my family a hotel 3 hours away from where we had been parked so that I could attend the interview. We had to leave our travel trailer and everything we owned completely unattended while I did the interview. I was invited back for more interviews and ended up getting sexually harassed in one of the interviews and didn’t get the job after all. We are normal people who work full time. I speak 3 languages. We are both relatively high IQ people. We are responsible, we don’t do drugs, and drink an occasional glass of wine with dinner. I know of very few people who have lived through as many catastrophic things as we have in their entire lifetimes. If we are doing all the right things and still encountering these issues, there must be a bigger problem at hand.
I live in Portland, Oregon and have all my life. Rent started getting higher back in 2006 but it was nothing compared to the housing bubble burst of 2008-2009. As 2012 came around, the rent increases and prices of new homes begin to rise like I have never seen before and it just kept getting worse and worse while the wages stayed exactly the same. When 2017-2018 came around rent was and is now WAY OUT OF CONTROL! The fact that Oregon has basic apartments, with small square foot units, in dangerous area's, where drugs, crime and homelessness is everywhere. They literally want to charge tenants the same amount, if not more, for a mortgage on a brand new home in the rich areas of Oregon and it is beyond ridiculous. I feel your pain and so sorry that we are all going through this, because Greed, Corruption & crime is all that is left of the beloved City of Roses!.... I can't even imagine where any of us are going to be in the next 5-10yrs from now, most likely on the streets as well!...
@@_A4A I hope we don’t all end up on the streets. It’s so bad. Someone has got to get a hold of that vacation rental market as well as these extra investment properties. And then there’s changing zoning laws. There also needs to be some legislation limiting the ways that one can make the housing market their own personal stock market. There are so many things that could be done if they wanted to do them.
Best decision I ever made was buying this 2000 dollar high top van and converting it into a camper. I've got enough solar to run my gaming setup, fans, microwave, lights, and ac 6 hours a night. I've already saved 6 grand in 2 months, my only bill is the home Internet, my phone and gas, screw car insurance, like 60 percent of Detroiters I don't have it
We are literally in the middle of a great depression, because cost of living being so much higher than wages, and price gouging by landlords is a major cause, and they use BS excuses as to why.
As a young man I'm terrified for my future. Gas prices are thrusting people into poverty, monkeypox is back, we won't own anything anymore, and we are easily distracted from bigger problems by buzzword topics. What a sad state this country is in. The worst part is that we allow them to do every bit of it.
my best advice is study HISTORY from the Babylonians to the present, preferably from OLD references. You will detect the common threads thru history that the powers that be have kept as their secrets. They foster ignorance to keep mankind in a sort of slavery. People were way ahead for a while then they created the 'Dark Ages', complete with their own scamdemics. Study history REAL HISTORY to know the future.
Yup,..you voted for your wonderful democrat of a president. He changed everything good that Trump did for us,the people. Even if you dont like him,we need him back to fix what Biden has done Btw,Im not a republican or a dem,..just a citizen watching as our forefathers roll over in their graves. After all they gave to make this country great.
A basic place under roof should be a right, not a privilege. Here in L.A., a tiny one bedroom or studio can cost $2500-3000. This is a madness and something needs be done.
I really liked the guy’s comment at the end “if we want a society with affordable housing, we have to build it”. Unfortunately, I don’t see anyone really caring about this because our society has gotten to the point where people just want to get rich quick and not worry about what they’re doing affects other people. We’re all trying to make more money, but it’s turning people against each other in the sense that richer people are seeing investment opportunities in the vulnerabilities of poorer people. That mindset in itself needs to change.
You said it! Infact, a family living a consumer society with affordable rent will have more money to spend at your businesses and generate more taxes. When they don't have the money, they pay for rent, bills and food... or end up homeless. Not living sustainably, not spending, and not able to contribute to the local economy. It's deeper than just high rent and greed. Realeastate companies and landlords are robbing profits from both the people and the locals businesses in their cash grabs.
@ 23:40 when they asked "how do you get out of this situation?" And he responded that he contemplated suicide it was absolutely heart breaking. We can not let the greed of these corporations win. The amount of greed is disgusting.
We need to legalize assisted suicide in this country. For many financial death IS death. Why let these old people suffer being homeless in their old age?
We need to prevent the births in the first place; keep; abortion free, safe and legal. There are obviously too many people chasing too few resources. Plus there is too much environmental destruction.
Or may it be that hedge funds have become owners of a significant portion all the real estate companies and combined with other relative holdings and special interest lobbying are driving the push to increase profits regardless of how it is accomplished. They seem to own about 10 pct of damn near everything and that seems almost literal. Imagine how that can be used to exert influence in ways we cant even imagine but they have.
There are places in the USA with rent control too. There are also smaller towns that are much cheaper to live in here in the USA - you just need to research & go visit. It is hard for people to live the more expensive cities if that’s where their friends & family are. You CAN still find reasonably priced places if you try.
i worked hard, i went to school, i got a bachelor's degree in a good STEM field. and i cant afford to move out. there's less jobs available than ever, and last i checked a 350 square foot studio would cost almost 1800 a month in rent. my bedroom in my parent's HOUSE is bigger than that. i've watched several friends be pushed into homelessness by soaring costs in just the last 2 years, even as they work 70 hour weeks and skip meals to try and stay alive. at what point do we say this is not ok?
Totally understand you. I'm 31 I have a degree and a decent job and yet housing is extremely expensive in my area. The cheapest place is a 450 square foot studio that rents for $1,548 a month (Utilities not included) and they only do month to month leases.. so they can jack up the rent at any time..
being homeless is one of the hardest things im going through right now. i live in a motel with my parents and its hard to find anywhere to live. i really appreciate your work in this documentary. it really shows every aspect of homelessness. i just wish it was easier.
That means your not homeless. Homeless are the scum who rob gas stations and shoot heroin in the bathrooms. Homeless are those who are breaking into vacant warehouses and are setting up tents and trash structures all along rivers in cities. Homeless is the lazy drug addicted losers in ho gave up on themselves long ago. Sounds to me like your parents are trying their best and you need to cut them some slack. You have a roof over your head, that's as good a gone as any.
As someone who's actively experiencing homelessness RIGHT NOW, I can attest: this is the absolute worst catch-22, and it really destroys you as a person.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered." Thomas Jefferson
Being homeless is more manageable if you own a car and have a decent paying job, but without those 2 things it really gets rough (especially during the “Satan’s Armpit” weeks of summer and the “windy, wet, cold” weeks of winter.) But if you’ve got a car payment (which is almost always the case now because of how much vehicles cost, even broken down used ones) it’s still bad even with the car/van to help you. You’ll also need to be good about keeping your homeless status on the DL; you’ll have to either have a shower/locker room at the workplace, or get a gym/community center membership that will let you keep your hygiene and appearance up; if people are able to even *begin* to detect that you might be homeless, their attitudes toward you will turn on a *flash* and you’ll experience all kinds of hostilities.
You have to start building your own business before you can get your dreams house and leave the life you need, salary can't help with that so think twice.
The wages we received is not enough to settle our expenses, we keep killing our self on salary putting hope on pension to take care of our self at old age it's not fair.

I am a middle class white woman and I lost my husband in 2020. My rent was $1250 but when my husband died my landlord began harassing me. My rent went to $1750. Needless to say I couldn't afford it because I lost my job. My family would not help me, so I had to move in with a friend. There is no affordable housing everything is expensive. I have never seen anything like this in my life. I truly believe the super rich are doing this intentionally. They want to control where people live and what they have.
My landlord raises my rent in a apartment that needs fixing up bad extra $400 just because he could now I must leave and remodel would be higher costs even those apartment is falling apart
My air conditioning would run and not cool the house. The drain pan to the ac was in a closet in the hall. The drain pan would get full and overflow and it warped the door . The repair man told me the ac unit was from 1985. It needed to be replaced badly. I got huge light bills and was burning up in the house. The furnace was just as bad. In the winter I froze. That bad cold weather that hit in Texas a couple of years back I had to huddle with my animals under blankets to stay warm. The landlord did not want to even fix the busted pipes in the house. That house was falling apart.
True. In Croatia the government is silently seeling the coastline to the rich and powerful and even silently changing the laws just to favor the rich. And Im saying that, bcuz 90% of people are making money from tourism, and it has come to the point that they are forbiding people to even go to the beach, let alone earn something.
We all want the same thing, to live in peace and harmony, to have food in our bellies, access to affordable healthcare, a roof over our heads. Is that too much to ask? Apparently it is to all the corporations who have their fingers in our food supply, our healthcare and now our housing.
Here in LA, expensive, luxury apartments are being built everyday that few people can actually afford to live in. It's so atrocious here, you literally have people using the sidewalk as a toilet. Right in front of these high end apartment buildings. There's tents set up right in front of city hall too. It's appalling that the government employees work right in front of the homeless and they act like they don't see them. They just care about getting a check. The Golden State is now tarnished. California is a joke now.
Worse, I hear San Francisco's new major just won a bid to become very hard on the homeless pop. So first we create the problem by displacing people cost-wise, then we support companies' slave wages, finally we criminalize the poor for not having enough money for exorbitant rents.
@@garyjones3142 Putting aside the finger pointing (that group's bad, but my group's good), poverty in red-run states is statistically worse than in blue-run states. This happened to my mother in law 2 weeks ago in East Texas. An investor bought their complex and hired a local property management group a few months ago. A few weeks ago all tenants were told they have 60 to vacate and that they would be remodeling. In order to Come back they have to meet the new rental requirements. She is on SSDI for multiple chronic diseases and barely affords the current rent and the affordable housing in that area has 2+ years waiting lists…she takes care of an autistic 61 yr old cousin, a 13 year old that lost her mother one year ago and is expected to just up and leave with no realistic options. Not everyone accepts people in need into their home to get paid. I know some do but not this lady. She deserves the assistance too. Most selfless person ever…
I'll put it this way. The moment you started to have college educated people with full time jobs working in their career field struggling to pay for a studio apartment is the moment you have a national crisis. This has gone beyond that and it is caused exclusively by greed. However, in some ways, the system is emploding on itself. The average rent where I live went up 50% over the past 2 years. It's $1500/mo for a 1bdr. in a town where the average hourly wage employee makes $16.00/hr. Recently, I saw some apartment complexes offering a $400 reduction on rent for a limited time because the average person in my town cannot afford $1500/mo for rent.
@@antoinejackson4311 Wow. That was a very rude and ignorant thing to say. BTW, most school teachers in this country can't afford to pay $1500/mo for rent so you might want to educate yourself on payscale and economics before entering into this discussion.

In the USA, individuals living in cars due to partial homelessness result from a complex interplay of factors. High housing costs relative to income, stagnant wages, and income inequality drive this issue. Job loss, weak social support, medical expenses, evictions, and lack of affordable housing also contribute, while systemic problems and inadequate policies further perpetuate the phenomenon.
Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.
I've remained in touch with a financial analyst since the start of my business. Amid today's dynamic market, the key difficulty is pinpointing the right time to buy or sell when dealing with trending stocks - a seemingly simple task but challenging in reality. My portfolio has grown by more than $600k within just a year, and I've entrusted my advisor with the task of determining entry and exit points.
I'm guided by *Mary Onita Wier* , an experienced coach with extensive financial market knowledge. While you can consider other options, her strategy has yielded positive results for me. She offers valuable insights, including entry and exit points for the securities I concentrate on.
Thank you for the information. I conducted my own research and your advisor appears to be highly skilled and knowledgeable. I've sent her an email and arranged a phone call. Her expertise is impressive, and I'm eagerly anticipating our conversation.
The system is broken and corrupt, it benefits people who own apartment buildings, homes they rent out, etc. The owner class has made more money in the last 20 years while the average American has loss purchasing power due to inflation. The system just makes the rich, richer, the poor, poorer. The extreme rich keep "donating" aka bribing the powers in government for policies that benefit them. In the end, it's all so a bunch of rich egomanics can brag about numbers in their accounts to other rich egomanics, so they can buy more items for their collections to sit in garages or gallerys.
There’s a pattern . It’s giving the Fall of Western Society and Karmic Debt of the Saltines. Good riddance and don’t try to run to South America and Africa. I hope they build a wall on you ppl😂
I have a corporate America job, I went from being comfortable to living on the edge. My rent has gone up 300 a month, inflation is 8% and we know about gas. My first check of the month is nothing but rent. My next check is bills and if it wasn’t for my little savings account I wouldn’t be able to make it but that’s running low. In the last 2 years my company gave me a total of .59 cent hour raise. I’m looking for a new job but they all pay the same. I have health insurance but I can’t afford the deductible so I don’t even use it. As of right now I need to get a second job just to cover bills. Next year I wanted to buy a house but I’m using the money save to get by, I need a roommate because I can’t do this alone, my salary is stuck in 2019 but my bills are in 2022 and the first one keeps coming up short.
It’s not a hidden secret we’ve had a housing issue. However, what is surprising is the complicity and acceptance of people who thinks this fair until they hit the streets. Try talking with and studying the lives of the homeless. You’ll find some have eerily similar lives to our’s. All it takes is one too many bad turns - your choice or outside of it - then boom.
Its only fair because I'm willing to wager that many of the people this story included, voted for the very individuals that support the systems that have a much more direct and significant impact on them then they realize. "Trickle down" economics is a genuinely real thing, especially when its a negative outcome. Say you are a good and caring individual that has gotten themselves to a point where you were able to give to charity in the realm of $200 a month. No benefit for you, you just did it out of the goodness of your heart. That $200 didn't negatively impact your life in any significant way in, you lived in your life style happy and content and your monthly balance was near perfect. NOW... all of sudden you have a new bill on your plate. One you didnt elect to have and it was imposed on you by others. This new bill every month is $500. What do you do? If you are most, youll prioritize your savings, you and your childrens future, your health, your safety, your general well being and happiness, and then so what goes? I am willing to bet that at some point either that $200 stops being donated, or you start asking more for services that you render....

When you are evicted from a mobile home park according to your lease, they can take possession of the home AND everything in it, unlike apartment eviction. Tragic, and should be illegal.
Not really sure where you live, but out in California there's no way they can keep your mobile home....You're probably not telling the whole story...It will cost you money, but just take your mobile home with you when you get evicted. People get evicted because they are behind in their rent in most instances,in that case yes, they put a lien on your mobile home because you owe them money.Or you can spend 5 to 10 thousand to move your mobile home out of their park....which most people don't have,so in the mean time, while you are evicted, and the rent space keeps adding up,of course they get to keep your mobile home
That is exactly the truth here in Michigan. It almost happened to me. Owned my mobile home and rented from that park for ten years. Needed a series of surgeries and fell behind in lot rent. The park took me to court via eviction over 6 weeks late lot rent. I was able to pay the behind lot rent and avoid eviction, just barely. It was made clear to me i would lose my mobile home title and all my possessions within if that owner won the eviction case in court. Double checked my paperwork and it was true. Turned around and sold my mobile home to the park owner once court case was dropped and became homeless. That owner did a few things and resold my home for a 225% profit. I almost lost it all due to unforeseeable health issues. 6 years later i am still in essence homeless. Predatory practices in mobile home parks are very real

An effective option that was unfortunately not explored here is the forming of a Co-op so that MH renters actually purchase their park. I live in Vermont and when private park owners sell, by law they must provide the option of renters forming a Co-op and buying the park. We just completed the purchase of our MH park, and this will keep our lot rents from sky-rocketing. So far, so good! 😇
Yes, the co-op model for mobile home parks in Vermont has been a very successful win/win, keeping lot rents from unfairly rising! I remember when the program started, and I'm glad it's still going strong. Co-op's (not co-housing) are a good solution to ever increasing rent hikes.

There is no reason why a 75 year old person should be homeless in this country. This report is heartbreaking.
I know a person in her mid 80s living out of her car. Tried to help, but felt I was being used, she never offered up any help around my house, even though she was able bodied. She seemed to be proud of being lazy. She wasn't on drugs.
If someone offers a homeless person a hand up, the homeless person should show a little gratitude, by offering a helping hand towards the upkeep of the house. Maybe even offer to wash the dishes.

Praying for you Lord please help Carter Lord protect him from poverty in Jesus name I pray Amen
Ill send good thoughts your way. Im so sorry your are in that situation. It shouldnt be. ❤
The "National Grid" is only in the NE part of the US and Texas is part of the SW. You pay about 40% less for electric than the people who buy from the National Grid. Cell service is spotty in the US since we are so large. I own my own home in California and I only have 1 bar cell phone.

That’s actually an incentive for them to just stay where they are as long as they can make the payments. They’re stuck of they’re upside down.

America has not been for the people in a very very long time
So my question is if say a generous billionaire came and bought property and lowered rent cost around the areas would all rent prices be force to go down
The tax for owning housing that you're not living in should be very high after you own more than 10 private dwellings and the corporate structure in which companies own other companies to open up a loophole should also be fixed

There's greed in every system
@TeNot556 No, the affordable housing can only be priced so high, it's the gov't taking all the affordable housing which increases the prices of the rest of the affordable housing. If you want to get affordable housing and stop the rampant rise in homelessness, you need to close the borders and deport. You need to vote more wisely since you vote for everything that you're complaining about. Stop voting for clowns like Biden.
@TeNot556 If you voted for Biden, you voted to housing shortages, he promised it when he said he wanted open borders and that he would never put America first.

I’m happy you’re ok !
The only reason there are so many homeless in California is because Reagan closed all the insane asylums.
Money problems and stress causes mental illness and drug abuse.
Maybe it's time to break the power grid
This World makes me wanna 🤮
Did the director respond to you?
Bbbut someone's real-estate investment portfolio might lose value if too many building permits for housing are granted.
Gotta keep that supply tight.
Agreed
Cramped quarters aren't an issue compared to the housing crisis and the cost of living these days.

It's not always a choice. If property tax goes up, you gotta raise the rent. People are greedy though.

Shhh you are using logic, the bill of rights, and libertarian ideas in a vice video.

If anything, the current Democracy in America rewards the wealthy, and punishes the poor with higher rent, fees, and taxes.

You just described the PNW I feel for you. It’s insane

Cap
Totally understand you. I'm 31 I have a degree and a decent job and yet housing is extremely expensive in my area. The cheapest place is a 450 square foot studio that rents for $1,548 a month (Utilities not included) and they only do month to month leases.. so they can jack up the rent at any time..
being homeless is one of the hardest things im going through right now. i live in a motel with my parents and its hard to find anywhere to live. i really appreciate your work in this documentary. it really shows every aspect of homelessness. i just wish it was easier.
i was just in the same situation a few months ago. i stayed in a motel with my parents and my two other siblings for a couple of months
I was homeless from June 2017 - April 2020 so I personally know the feeling and struggle.

Being homeless is more manageable if you own a car and have a decent paying job, but without those 2 things it really gets rough (especially during the “Satan’s Armpit” weeks of summer and the “windy, wet, cold” weeks of winter.)
But if you’ve got a car payment (which is almost always the case now because of how much vehicles cost, even broken down used ones) it’s still bad even with the car/van to help you.
Salary earners can't leave up to the life plan by them, while earning try and put something to work where you are can earn second source of income.

Graduated into the pandemic, had to live with parents, and now still continue to live with parents while doing working remote. I'm blessed to have that opportunity and not have to worry about rent. Tough to know most of my generation won't be able to afford a house.
You’re being very smart. I hope that you’re appreciative of what your parents are doing for you & that you pay them back in spades (& love). It’s their duty to be good parents but it’s also your duty to be good to them & to take care of them once they need you to.
I'm an underemployed 29-year-old millennial with ADHD living with her parents. I don't know if my fiance or I will ever afford a home.

We also need to limit international firms buying up investment properties AND disincentivize people collecting vacation homes like pogs.
remember the 2020 - 2022 rent strike...remember the chant "landlord isn't a job". yeah well those small time landlords sold out to major investment firms that don't care, but can afford a rent strike cause they will use their staff lawyers to get you out vs the mom and pop that tries to call their cousin's nephew to help with a eviction

Not just rent, utilities are absolutely insane too.
I am heartbroken to read this. What do you mean by harassing? Like in a sexual way?
True. In Croatia the government is silently seeling the coastline to the rich and powerful and even silently changing the laws just to favor the rich. And Im saying that, bcuz 90% of people are making money from tourism, and it has come to the point that they are forbiding people to even go to the beach, let alone earn something.

The entire country is going to end up like this.

All these empty houses and buildings, too!
People are buying houses to store their money not to rent them out!
This is just one example. I can’t believe the crisis nationwide. I am technically homeless myself. My spouse died and I cannot afford anything by myself…thank you for exposing this crisis I hope help comes soon for everyone suffering.

That's not a natural crisis, irs a sign of bad life choices. Clearly that college degree wasn't worth it.

Exactly
I really feel for Americans, because we Australians are experiencing the same thing. We're all in it together I'm afraid.

OMG!😡
