I believe the FCC stipulates that with the mode in use a bandwidth no wider than required in order to communicate is to be used. In other words, no hi-fi. FCC Part 97 rules and regs 97.307: "(a) No amateur station transmission shall occupy more bandwidth than necessary for the information rate and emission type being transmitted, in accordance with good amateur practice."
I always regarded the old telephone bandwidth or 300 to 3400 as your basic voice bandwidth, but was surprised when I saw radio's that dropped it down to 2K, that seemed to be over doing it in my book.
Sometimes when I'm plugged into a dummy load I swear I can sometimes hear faint voices. 3 possibilities. 1) A strong radio signal of someone transmitting in the area. 2) I'm so used to hearing people taking on the band my ears are playing tricks on me and I'm loosing my mind😵💫 . 3) 👻 Interesting fact is that that a certain percentage white noise that is heard when tuned to a blank station is cosmic in nature from our Milky Way galaxy. Pretty cool!

I've heard of people tying to catch paranormal activity on the old school analog TV's tuned to a blank station. Creeeeeepy!

"In other words, no hi-fi" Absolutely false.

Ya, narrowing down to 2k is a bit narrow for my ears but to each their own.
Have you ever listen to anything weird before anything with spirit realm ?
