We have enjoyed many of Russia's finest composers through their classical symphonies, ballets, concertos, etc., but it is only in the last three years that God has revealed to me these treasures of sacred music. Thank you for sharing them!
Now you need to discover the Faith behind this music. Find a good Russian Orthodox congregation near you and make an appointment with the priest and ask him about coming to services. I would suggest a parish in the ROCOR jurisdiction or the OCA. You won't regret it.

Le chant de la Création. Une sublime fenêtre sur le Royaume des cieux. Cette musique est simplement céleste, tout comme l'hymne des chérubins de Tchaïkovski. L'âme slave et la liturgie orthodoxe, intimement liées, nous montrent la voie vers le plus haut degré de l'élévation spirituelle.

This wonderful choir has managed to touch me on so many different levels at once... Instead of being emotionally burdening (like so many - otherwise beautiful - pieces) , it soothes and comforts me most wondrously and instills hope where there was very little; instead of putting me back in place, it invites me to open up and re-connect; instead of isolation, I feel an uplifting "joinedness" and an acute loss of cynicism. Thank you for this.
While listening to this I think about all the inhumanity to mankind, the starvation and the wars. I wonder when something so beautiful as The Lords Prayer that all this can be going on. Let's break this chain of cruelty, help those in need. One of my favourite music works.

Etant Organiste Titulaire de l'eglise de Notre Dame de France a londres, l'orgue magnifique me donne beacoup de joie, certes, mais le sens du sacree chante reste chez les Russes Orthodoxes. Je suis d'accord - en est transporte bien ailleurs de ce monde parfois tragique........

This composition shows that human consciousness is shrinking, only linguistic consciousness and mathematics/ computation (and stupidity) have evolved. But consciousness of being has eroded. High art has more being than we have being! The world is empty of being but for art. In the Novel "The Invention of Morel" (1925) people live eternally on celluloid in a scene they chose to exist in before they died. The fact that they chose to do it is astonishing, it's the way we live by taking pictures of ourselves and posting on Facebook, as if we lived in them.
