I can't lie, the double d-ring helmets pissed me off because I had no idea how they worked, but now I realize I was making a big fuss out of an issue I could've solved in under 4 minutes...

Double d-ring helmets are safer, and I don't like the buckle of a ratchet strap helmet digging into my throat. There is a way of just loosening the double d-rings and removing your helmet, you don't need to slip the strap completely out of the rings.

Me too! I had to watch this video as I didn't have a clue how to get the tension on the D ring type. It's a bit fiddly, but I guess you get a feel for it over time.

Everyone complains about Ratchet digging into their throats, but for me it's opposite. Even with the Strap fully tightened and the Buckle Clicked all the way in, IT'S STILL SO FAR FROM MY CHIN!
It feels very...unsafe. I guess for my helmet size, they expect people with double or triple chins to wear them, so the straps are never even close to my chin or neck. The Helmet itself fits snug so I've always had to just convert to D-Rings. Really wish Manufacturers would stop with this Ratchet strap garbage...

The ratchet strap on my Nolan N40-5 doesn't slip out of the ladder lock as the one here in the video did as my strap end is too large, so I just had to finagle with the ladder lock amid much aggravation, but I did finally get it adjusted.

I also had the same issue. Wore the helmet for months like that, choked the life out of me, then i managed to find the other the other end of the strap.

@@a_lc_mlatikur2455 I found the end of the strap, but it wouldn't fit thru the slots in the ladder lock on the Nolan.

The rachet on my nearly new Nolan n80 something is agony. It's cutting into my lower jaw and I am a woman with a very small lower jaw! The rachet design is so hard to unclick. Can I sew a double d ring one instead? Or should I pad it around with cushioning around it at each end where the cushioning very not working much underneath. My other helmet is better but no Bluetooth and not as good a visor? It's very heavy too. I couldn't stand more than 2 minutes against my jaw both sides. It fits everywhere else an egg shape and great visor and added survivor integrated. Cocchum. But I will be in pain with that contraption! Why can't these helmet makers do a proper job for us? Always been a problem on the old helmets too but this one was 20 quid and almost brand new. I am on s budget. Cheers laddie for any help there please. I can sew quite deftly. Are helmets meant to be this heavy? Hood God! Surely there must be an alternative. Everyone's had 100 odd years to get it right. But there seems to be some brain damaged inventing! ❤
