With great animation and cinematography of this game, this is one of the fighting games that deserve more attention if you like Street Fighter 2 and The King Of Fighter.
@@LlLnig Well, Fatal Fury and Street Fighter 2 were actually developed at the same time even though they were released at different times of 1991. I heard it said that both companies were influencing each other during development. Of course I see a lot of moves similar to that of SF2 and Fatal Fury. But the art style of the characters and environments, downright to the font style and coloring of the letters is right out of a Fatal Fury game!
Thanks for sharing this. I really like the destructible stages. Interesting how this comes off as kind of a parody of SF2. Kazuya's walking-away ending scene is clearly a play on Ryu's end scene from SF2. Many of the background scenes also seem to be mirroring those from SF2. I think this goes beyond simply ripping off SF2 and seems more tongue-in-cheek.
Power Instinct, World Heroes, and Fighters History all pretty much parody Street Fighter 2, and that is what makes them more well liked by people like myself.
This reminds me a lot of the controversial Fighters History. I was so burned out of the street fighter series after super street fighter 2 and preferred fighters history and world heroes. I would have definitely played this game if I knew about it then.
Some of these games were really nice to look at graphically they jus couldn’t trump sf2’s popularity …. Even now there are a few games that look better then sfv people won’t stop playing sf tho it’s too popular …. 😅😅🥲
Nice fighting game. The graphics are colorful and well animated and the destructible stages are a cool touch. It gives some more replay value as one might want to see how all the complete stages look like (as well as to try all the fighters and see all the endings, of course). Wish i could've played this in the arcade back then but i guess it was scarcely distributed.
Not really. Arcade games always had better graphics, mechanics and performance than console games, because arcade machines were purpose built to run only one game.
My guess is that one of the Taito staff members working on this game got their cultural and ethnic stereotypes mixed up when creating a Russian karate fighter with a coonskin cap named Gonzales, LOL.
To me Kaiser Knuckle looks like a mixup between Fatal Fury and Street Fighter. Too bad I never had the chance to play this game. Very good animations and beatiful sprites and details everywhere.
It feels like an early prototype based on Ryu, but Harada decided to take the character in another way. To be fair this game should have gotten a port in compilation or consoles
Looks like Street Fighter 2 with King of Fighters characters. He even says "Hadoken"! 🤔☺ The presentation looks fantastic though, dare I say, even better than SF2 in that regard. I've actually never even heard of this game to be honest. Its always a real treat to discover a new gem because it doesn't happen very often. I'll have to give this one a go so thanks for introducing me to it 👍 P.S. I know it's not much but I've never heard of your channel before so you've got another new subscriber 👍👍👍
08:57 should we be concerned that Cell seems to have escaped during the match? Nice game and gameplay, interesting character designs and I like how they jump right into the match from the character screen. Though as with all these tournament themed fighter games I'd like to see the official rules, since half the fighters always seem to bring what would clearly be a banned item in any other fight. A monkey and attack bird Liza? That's gotta be a wide open loophole.
I think its only fair when youre fighting a guy that can launch lion heads from his fist, frankenstein's monster, a ninja, and a guy that can beat you up by smacking you with his hair like whats his hair made of haha
The graphics are pretty nice. The game looks a bit more quirky than Street Fighter, and the Taito soundtrack has a different feel. It would be interesting to try out.
I saw this game in the arcade preview section of GamePro magazine back in the 90s and thought it was so cool! The screenshot showing the stylish vertical character select pane was very unique. But now that i looked at it, this game doesn't look at all impressive.
